    I was just looking for a knack to remove the wipers. I don't have one of those pullers but a vice grips will just about get in there too. Thanks for pointing my brain in the right direction!

    If your car is Left Hand Drive the filter is on the opposite side. It can be replaced with just removing the plastic clips that are holding the plastic cover and bend it upwards. Make sure it's on warm day so you won't break the cover.

      Doing that will cause water to infiltrate in to the cabin, very bad advice, ask me how I know.

    Why are you removing the wipers ? Just remove the screws from the plastic cover and bend it up to access the pollen filter. 5 minute job.

    Did you put adhesive in the channel where the black plastic housing and the windshield meet ??

    Question, where that cowl meets the windshield on my '03 X, seems it's secured with double faced tape?? Was hard to remove and I see no way now rain can't get down into the workings and perhaps the cabin. From your video, i couldn't see if there is a factory weather strip or something similar to keep it water tight or am I concerned about nothing? I appreciate you input.

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  2 года назад

      Hi Tom - it's unlikely that the cowl would be factory 'fixed' to the windshield. Perhaps in a previous life someone attempted to stop a perceived point of water leaks and fitted double sided tape - I've come across this before.

    what year x type jaguar has this filter

  • @hotmasked1

    Update You just need to the remove the 3 left cowl fasteners and lift the cowl up a bit. I can pull the old cabin air filter out and replace. I used a shop Vacuum with a thin long nose nozzle to suck up all the leaves and gunk from the housing. I did not have to remove the wipers at all.

      That breaks the clips and the plastic doesn’t sit right after , then water gets behind the plastic

    Is it the same in the S-type 2003?

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  4 года назад

      Hi - Yes it's very similar. Remove wipers and plastic cowling and the filter is just underneath.

    I like these practical videos but there is no need to remove the wiper arms. I found the background 'music' really annoying , just my opinion.

    Hardly a big job, your making a meal of that job.
    No need to remove the wipers just remove the fasteners and lift up tray, fit the pollen filter, refit tray making sure the tray is pushed back into the slot on the screen, I've changed 100s working in a jag dealership.
    Dear O Dear.

      Hi Jeffrey thanks for your comment, although I must admit I was a little disappointed to hear from a Jaguar dealership employee that they did not follow the procedure outlined in the Jaguar Workshop manual, which I'm sure you'll understand we use as our guide when performing maintenance on our cars.
      For your interest page 1,961 of the Jaguar X-Type workshop manual describes the procedure for replacing the cabin filter. I've included an excerpt below for your reference.
      Thanks again, and all the best.
      (Page 1,961)
      Air Distribution and Filtering - Pollen Filter
      Removal and Installation:
      1. Remove the cowl vent screen.
      For additional information refer to "Cowl vent screen" (501-02 Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).
      (Page 2,369)
      Front End Body Panels - Cowl Vent Screen.
      Removal:
      1. Remove the wiper arms and blades.

    What a stupid design. Taking half of the car apart just for something this basic.
