Sad thing is knox is still unaware of how incredible their rapline is. He hasn't reacted to any of their b sides. How much I wish he could do that and break down the lyrics.
I think that he reacted to Oddinary album on a live stream, should be able to find it on yt. But yea definitely got a lot more golden ones that he hasn't found.
@@Fou080 for sure. Think the thing is they've just got so much great content and its kinda hard thinking about how he hasn't heard or gotten into the vast majority of their best raps/music in general yet😅. I get his channel is mostly western rap but I do hope he decided to dive deeper into stray kids at some point (I know he would freak over how experimental yet hard hitting they can be lmao)
I think he don't want to sell himself to the views or the genre like other reactors do and keep the variety. I wish also he would react to some Bsides because his reactions are really good and make some educative comments that I love.
The "District 325" on the side of the bus is another Easter egg (which they often hide throughout some of their M/Vs). Stray Kids debuted on March 25 (aka 3/25), 2018. And their debut song was "District 9".
Those giants are called "Umibozu". They are renowned as the most terrifying sea monsters in Japanese folk legends, believed to be the souls of drowned monks or unfortunate individuals who perished at sea. Over time, fueled by resentment, they transform into these bald-headed, big black-eyed sea giants, some of them smaller in size. They emerge on peaceful nights to instill fear by smashing boats and drowning sailors who venture into their territory. Essentially, these monsters symbolize children's fears while performing, with Stray Kids encouraging them to enjoy the stage and overcome their fears. That's my interpretation, anyway
Also the fact that Stray Kids is seen dancing underwater with the bubbles effect gives this Japanese legend a whole new meaning. It's like they were the monks or unfortunate ones who were once drowned or who perished at sea, which is why they are indeed "Stray". The fact that they are represented as pirates here becomes representative of the "Kids" aspect because they claim back what's theirs by force as if rebelling against the world like the true delinquent kids they are. So technically, this whole song can be encapsulated in two words- "Stray Kids".
The giant thingy is represent the kids fear so in the beginning when lee know swing his hand the kids start to play the drum stray kids is pushing them to overcome their stage fear you can notice it when the giant thingy got closer to the mariachi kids they closed their eyes and just started playing harder and the beat start to go heavier so the giant disappeared the concept is so beautifully done I love it
The 4 Chinese characters that shows on the first "lalalala lalalala" means joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure and in the end of it, it will be only "pleasure" remains.
3:50 to 4:00 the characters represent the emotions of Happiness, Anger, Sadness and Pleasure. All of the characters disappear except for Pleasure. These are emotions felt when performing. In the end all emotions disappear and they only feel the pleasure of performing. It fits well within the video and the concept. Don't think just let it Rock. at 7:14 Felix Does say "OH 쉿 (shis)" which translates to Shoosh. Bang Chan wanted to see how many times he could pull this in this album. If you react to the full album you'll find more of these since the company doesn't allow them to swear for real. Loved the reaction! Take care of yourself and hope you'll feel better!!
The wordplay in this song is masterful. The Chinese symbol for pleasure, -the one that is in the name of the album is pronounced approximately like "Rak", which sounds a lot like "Rock". So everytime they sing Rock, they kind of also sing "pleasure". Combine that with the other symbols for anger, sadness and joy disappearing and only pleasure being left... It's about the pleasure if the music. The pleasure of performing. Of singing and playing to all fear, anger, sadness etc evaporates, and only the pleasure of the music is left! And there's a lot more of clever wordplay... Rhyming words, and using the fact that in Korean "R" and "L" are the same letter and is pronounced as a sound that is halfway between the two, so "la la la la" can be made to sound very close to "rak rak rak rak" (and "lock, lock, unlock" as they use one time") they also use a lot of words that has "rak" as a syllable ... It's a whole thing! Brilliant! ❤
Agree!!! Their wordplay is second to none!! The level of their wordplay adds so many layers of meaning to the lyrics-- just one of the many, many reasons I love them. Bangin', but also thoughtful and intelligent. I'll STAY forever ❤❤❤
this is probably the first reaction video i've seen for this where the pirate reference is NOT related to one piece + the bank heist IS compared to the dark knight. i was really hoping someone was gonna point out the joker reference; i really am chuffed to see the references to different movies, past skz concepts, and even natural elements combining together to portray these different emotions the kids are feeling, but what's just as cool is seeing people's own takes on it, so thank you!
thanks for reaction! Felix actually says smth like "oh, shwit" and not "oh, sh*t" - he uses a Korean word but we all know what he meant :) Korean broadcasting (radio, TV) ban songs with swearing words, that's why most groups avoid those.
This is one of the reasons I enjoy Stray Kids. I don't enjoy all the swear words and raunchy lyrics in the western music. So I haven't listened to music like this in forever. Now my daughter and I can both enjoy it.
@@shellic5166 same for me. I don't mind when swear words are used to enhance a moment and a feeling, but I hate the way western music overuses them thinking it sounds cool I suppose. So I am glad Asian music has censorship for swear words.
@polyanagula totally agree. I can't even watch music videos. They are very disgusting most of the time now. So to fully enjoy not only the music but the music videos as well....I am loving it!
So happy to see you react, was hoping you would. The falsetto was Bang Chan but understandable mixing the names up. Thanks for the breakdown as always and hope you feel better soon.
A little bit of context… This is a story about the kids facing and overcoming their giants of fear and insecurity while preforming in a live show. You see this when the camera zooms into the boy’s eye and into what is going on inside his mind. The kanji characters on the pirate map are (which, btw, if you look closely is the map of a brain); the white flag is sorrow, black is anger, the green is happiness/joy, the red is pleasure. The anger character is the one that dissolves/disappears.
you have to watch the prologue video by them to understand the meaning of the mv. basically there are four sets representing four primal emotions: joy(the clowns), anger(the pirates), sorrow (the white sets), pleasure(the mad max one). all these emotions is what inside the child’s while facing the stage fright (aka the monster). so all these crazy things you see is what’s inside the child’s head.
A little bit of explaining so the title of the song is rockstar: lalalala - “rock” being the Chinese character 乐 (yue) meaning music (I’m pretty sure Koreans use the traditional Chinese one but point still sticks) - this Chinese character is one that has multiple pronunciations another being 乐 (le) meaning pleasure which is what straykids intended the message of the song to be so it is a clever play on word. As for the four characters 喜怒哀乐 (xinuaile) which is a let’s say Chinese idiom in a sense that literally mean joy, anger, sorrow, pleasure and in the mv the first 3 emotions disappear one by one leaving finally just pleasure as the final emotion when everything of the music video goes to it’s peak in energy near the end. To add a little thing both the first and last emotion could be translated as joy or happiness difference being 喜(xi) should be long term for example in ancient times wedding should be 喜(xi) and not 乐(le), whereas 乐(le) described as a sudden burst of happiness which is why I think straykids translated the character into pleasure. Ps: falsetto at 8:42 is bangchan.
@zizifang4679 thank you for this excellent breakdown of the Chinese characters used in the video and the more in depth lesson on what they mean/represent 🫶🫶🫶
It's a word play, In Chinese, Japanese, anf Korean, they say people have 4 emotions throughout their lives, 喜怒哀樂 (read: ki-do-ai-raku; means: joy, anger, sorrow, pleasure), the first character missing is 怒 (anger). And 喜(joy) and 哀 (sorrow) is missing later. Leaving only 樂 (pleasure), the raku (which really have close pronunciation with "rock" and "luck"). That's why they named the song 락 (樂)
They have a rock version of this song on their new album that you should check out. Its pretty sick. The whole album is fire as usual. Definitely check it out.
thank you for reacting to stray kids again, love your lyric breakdowns :) can you also check out their album called rockstar please? i think you’ll really vibe with the songs

Knox Hill is one of the Genius Reactors I knew here in You Tube Channel.. Your Explanations really made me understand more whenever you react the Music Videos from Lyrics ,how they use the metaphor ... and many more.. Your truly A genius. Seriously.
The felix line where he says "oh 쉿" it sounds like OH SHIT. 쉿 is pronounced like shit so it's wordplay. 쉿 basically translates to "SHHH" or Shush". So in a way felix is saying "oh shhh" like oh be quiet 🤫. Its very clever wordplay and something SKZ is known for doing. The video is like a depiction of a battle between emotions(happiness, anger, sadness and pleasure). And the Chinese characters are just that 喜 means Happy (bank set), 怒 means Angry (pirate set), 哀 means Sad (sandy/domino set), and 樂 means Joyful / Pleasure (mad max esque set that they end on). The big giant monsters are like the personification of these emotions and also stage fright for the kids. And the monsters 1 by 1 disappear throughout the MV as PLEASURE wins in the end. Some also speculate the kids represent the stray kids members of the past coz there is 8 of them. And all of this(the MV) is happening inside the children's heads like the movie Inside Out! So SKZ is inside the kids's heads dancing and fighting off the negative emotions till only pleasure is left and the kids can truly enjoy their performance on stage without any fear or negative emotions holding them back!
There can be other singers with deep voices but he nailed it here. Felix is an angel with the deep voice so he has that uniqueness that duality and it makes him one of a kind cant be beat or compared to others!! 🔥🔥🔥

Happy to see you doing SKZ react content. I'm a huge hip hop fan and only in the last few years have branched into Kpop and SKZ are definitely one of the standout groups for me. Definitely recommend checking out some of their 'older' b-sides. They are extremely clever and put a ton of work into their production.
I'm dying of laughter at you calling Bang Chan Changbin🤣 in all seriousness I deeply enjoy your takes on their songs and I really appreciate your insights/the connections you make because they're always so interesting.
Great reaction and picking up on the deeper meaning of the video!! You’re seriously missing out on stray kids rap heavy b side tracks though! They have wayyyyyy more music than just title tracks and music videos and you would go crazy for their heavy rap
Appreciate your reactions. You dive into all kinds of music and get into the behind the scenes details of what makes a record, from production to lyrics. keep em coming. Sound a little groggy compared to normal....if so, feel better Knox
Not so much a Dark Knight reference, but the 4 words in the sky have meaning, Joy, Anger, Sadness and Pleasure. Each set of them in costumes is one of those words, that fade out one at a time until pleasure is all that's left. All of this is happening in the child's head. There are 8 children on the stage and 8 of them. This is them from the future looking back on their younger selves and encouraging them. Pirates are Anger, the Clown masks are Joy with no controlling factor, so unbridled joy. I hope this helps :D I think the emotional response is the fan base picking up on the fact that this entire album sounds and feels like Stray Kids are healing their inner children.
Knox, you have to react to all the b sides of their albums, like Taste, 3Racha, FNF, The View, I Like It, Deep End, Red Lights, ITEM, Super Bowl and DOMINO etc There are sooo many more but you'll get into them as you listen to more of their discography
You should watch the video of them watching the M/V. They explain the characters despairing and what they mean. (btw you should definitely listen to their other song 'megaverse').
I think Knox would love MEGAVERSE. I keep waiting for him to find HeyDay, 3Ratcha, Tortoise and the Hare and so many other rap heavy songs of theirs. I would eat it up! Please Knox!
Hey please react to their two most recent albums Rockstar and 5 Star. I think you’ll be blown away, especially by 5 Star because it’s their best one yet so far imo!
Thank you for your breakdown/theories of the M/V. I Loved it. Stray Kids are just that group that say we dont give F^&^% and I am here for it. Looking forward to more of your content. I like your channel.

I'm dying of laughter at you calling Bang Chan Changbin🤣 in all seriousness I deeply enjoy your takes on their songs and I really appreciate your insights/the connections you make because they're always so interesting.
I love this. I love your reaction, thanks.
Stray Kids never disappoint!
They are amazing!
Great reaction and picking up on the deeper meaning of the video!! You’re seriously missing out on stray kids rap heavy b side tracks though! They have wayyyyyy more music than just title tracks and music videos and you would go crazy for their heavy rap
When I say I was WAITING for this reaction, I was 👏W A I T I N G 👏 I love your reactions, Knox!!!
Appreciate your reactions. You dive into all kinds of music and get into the behind the scenes details of what makes a record, from production to lyrics. keep em coming.
Sound a little groggy compared to normal....if so, feel better Knox
Yes!! I’m sooo glad you’re reacting to Stray Kids again!!
I feel it's an inner child reference. The drummer boys. They are releasing their inner children.
I hope this helps :D I think the emotional response is the fan base picking up on the fact that this entire album sounds and feels like Stray Kids are healing their inner children.
i loves how you interpret this song..even i don't understand this mv completely..but thanks knoxhill
MEGAVERSE By them just came out too i’m really curious about your reaction ❤️
I love your Stray kids reactions!
Thank you!
Please go on!
100% an angel
The album has a rock version of this song, and it's fire!!
Knox, you have to react to all the b sides of their albums, like Taste, 3Racha, FNF, The View, I Like It, Deep End, Red Lights, ITEM, Super Bowl and DOMINO etc
There are sooo many more but you'll get into them as you listen to more of their discography
Loved your reaction! It’s one of the most insightful I’ve seen showing up new parts of the MV storyline though I’ve seen it so many times. Amazing!
8:42 i believe the "24/7 we'll keep going on" falsetto was Bang Chan, not Changbin
Always love your reactions Knox. Looking forward to your new release 👊
You should watch the video of them watching the M/V. They explain the characters despairing and what they mean. (btw you should definitely listen to their other song 'megaverse').
they also have a rock version of this song; I recommend you listen.
Was waiting for your reaction. Thanks! It's always interesting
Actually the falsetto in the end is the leader bang chan..our multitalented leader❤
I also used to mix up the names “changbin” and “Bangchan” constantlyyyyy. I mean, they are quite similar.
I'd recommend you the whole album 5-STAR by them, it's a masterpiece, please
❤.....great breakdown
straight VIBES
Knox since rap is up ur alley, pls react to skz “rap heavy” songs. You won’t regret it I swear
INSANE M/V 🤯
LOVE IT ❤ Thanks for the reaction
Thank you for your breakdown/theories of the M/V. I Loved it. Stray Kids are just that group that say we dont give F^&^% and I am here for it. Looking forward to more of your content. I like your channel.
I hope you feel better Knox!!!
you still need to react to their other best songs, topline, and metaverse
