This is my preferred Assault Mech in MWO, I have it fitted with an ATM 30 combo in the shoulders + CT, and Clan ER-MPL's 3x3 arm configuration. This gives the Clan ER-MPLs the same exact OPTIMAL range as the ATM's for their x3 damage bonus. So you look at your optimals and the tgt distance and once they are within 360 meters, its bye bye 100+ tons of armor. I am not joking that ATM 30 in optimal is gonna strip 90 tons of armor plus the 15 tons per arm burst 2x because of each arm for another 30 tons of armor removed, which means in just a few seconds that's 120 tons of armor deleted in a single volley. Heat management is required but its fairly easy on nominal planets where you get about 3 "alpha strikes" before overheat kicks in. On volcanic or high heat planets its about 2 "alpha strikes", maybe slightly less depending on heat conditions. with this build you also run MAX ARMOR plating as well, and keep the 64.8 KPH speed. People constantly underestimate the Blood Asp in this exact config as they see missiles and think LRM's, not ATM's, and since they don't see Gauss Rifles on the shoulders they think they are safe.... they are not, and they learn a very painful lesson very quickly.
first exposure i had to the blood asp was through mech assault 2 though i preferred it's star adder configuration more, my only grievance was that i didn't get a lot of play time with it. Never the less the more I got to researching it the more it became my favorite clan mech coming just ahead of the timberwolf.
Star Adder 1: Oooh, I hate those Blood Spirits! We need to do something that will really insult them! Something that will REALLY get under their skin! Star Adder 2: How about we name a big, badass assault Mech after them? Star Adder 1: Haha! Sick burn, bro!
One of my favorite mechs and of course it is clan tech! I didn't even think of it resembling a mini Warlord Titan, but it's sexy nonetheless! I love the Prime (I believe) as I love some Clan LRM for range & nothing but lasers for getting dirty! Battletech could definitely use a bit of Chaos influence to jazz up some mechs....Now that I think about it that would make for an amazing pirate or even merc faction. I'm no mini painter, but it is awfully tempting!
Back in my college days one of my old Lance mates had a Dell custom PC and he used this for one of the old mech warrior games, it's a fast mech, really hard to line up a shot in close combat with a heavy or assault mech I used (the war hammer and or gunslinger) so it was quite difficult to beat him one on one, he still has one of these on his mech warrior online account but he mostly uses a centurion.
Hello Grim. Ah, the Blood Asp... How I hated this Mech when it first was used by Clan Players. The Prime's configuration with the dual Gauss Rifles was a real pain in the posterior for Inner Sphere Players, like myself. Invariably, Clan Players chalked up their wins to superior tactics, rather than the Clan's unfair advantages in Technology. So, every time I could take one down, I would rub their faces in their demise just to get a bit of my own back at them. The one time that Several Clan Players actually stopped playing and quit the game rather than face me, was when I fielded an opposing force made entirely out of my LCT-5M(GL) Locusts. Yes, I lost a few locusts during the first few turns of game play, but by that time I had maneuvered, and was maneuvering, to keep at least a few in their rear arcs at all times. The ER Lrg Lasers of the Locusts, firing at medium range, allowed me to hit more often than their 'Thunderfoot' Mechs, and they saw the writing on the wall... that I would pretty much out-run, and out-gun their superior machines and win in the end. That, I call a victory. Otherwise, I have disliked the Blood Asp Mech for the most part. Never playing Clans myself. I just don't like the lack of 'challenge' in fielding such superior tech against 'normal' Mechs. I much prefer a game where I can use my Tactical Skills and the Terrain to my advantage. I am sorry for not posting a positive review on this Mech, but after facing it so often, and having the players of such Mechs crow at me every time they win, claiming they are such great Mechwarriors, well... you see how I would feel about it. I hope you understand.
@Grimdark narrator, what about the Clan Shadowcat? It is my Favorite Medium Mech from the Vanilla Mechwarrior 4: Vengeance. Well, it was the main mech you get for the tutorial and the first few missions. In particular that it is capable for coring a few lamed Spherical Dropships, after your Lance blows the APU trucks.
I have a request that would probably be quick since it doesn't have much lore. Do you think you could potentially do a quick video on the Bull Shark sometime in the future? It would be cool to see you talk about it!
oh do not get me started on thew atrocity that was Mech Assault ... a direct fire energy weapon that tracked a target after being fired? the hell sorcery is this
Original art work was meh I like the upper torso the legs were atrocious. The first Original metal miniature was to small for an assault mech. I actually replaced the legs with that of the light WOB omni mech Malak.(sad when the legs of a light mech fit on a assault and still look a little big) one of these days I'll brake down and get the newer sculpts. Ok I need to change what I said. The Malak legs are a good height but the hip is a bit to small many the legs of the Preta would be a closer fit. But all and all the Malaks legs are still a better improvement than the originals.

I think I am slowly getting addicted to these battletech videos.
Usually I would say addiction is a bad thing, but in this case I would say get your self a mech or get hired by mercs if you can't effort your own
Well, there's over 70 of them here. Enjoy.
He also narrates most if not all of the Grey Death Saga (Grey Death Legion) definitely worth a listen!

Only GDN could dare tell a Clanner "Here's your Daddy..."
Nice work!
The star adder from MW mech assault 2 was so cool.

@@GrimDarkNarrator you're welcome brother, fucking clan mechs lol
This mech was a beast in mech commander 2, with a Ace pilot with gauss rifle marksman skill it was an instant kill when aiming at the cockpit
Loved that extra 'pedigree' part at the end. Really neat, hope you do it again!
It's funny that the MWO meme of just having all your hard points above your shoulders is a real mech.
Ahhh yes, the Basp. The peekaboo sniper of the Clanners. Good video as always
Thanks for watching.
I would get indecisive when playing mechassault when they'd let you choose between the blood asp and star atter

I'll get to the shadow cat some day, probably.
Anybody else think the Kingfisher was adapted into the Kodiak? The angular look and speed just give me that feeling.
You make a good point.
It's one of the mechs in mech warrior living legends. I'm suprized theirs not more pics.

I'll add it to the possible topics list and include it with some other mech one day :)
@@GrimDarkNarrator Thanks!
When I see these on my roguetech drops, I know imma take a repair bill
Kingfishers are a hoss too. Shew.
haha
Kinda sad this isnt in the new mechwarrior clans game.

Smart lasers :D
@@GrimDarkNarrator the plasma PPCs lol slthough my Clan is known for its sorcery creating the Omnimech, ATM, and adding Streaks to LRMs
I am a big fan of the Blood Asp, it just looks plain mean.
Look at that line art, mmm.
Mine online rocks 95 LRMS....thats right 95
