One of the best mechs in MW2: Mercenaries. I remember dying to an AI flashman after taking a severe beating from its lasers, only to have it finish me off with a flamer that, at the time, I was not expecting.
Hello Grim. Ah, the Flashman. A Mech that many over look for some reason. What that reason or reasons may be confounds me, since this is a very balanced Mech design. Even the downgraded version is well worth taking onto the field of battle against other downgraded Mechs. The later upgraded version returns the Flashman to it's Star League Era glory. Post 3055, with the addition of even more advanced Technologies, the Flashman becomes even more lethal as it's price increases due to that same tech. Now, having said all that, I find the Flashman's weapons mix to be pretty good for most battlefield missions. The only real thing that disappoints me about the Mech's design is the lack of hand actuators. Not for Punching purposes, but for missions like resource raids and cargo snatching. When Experimental Technologies were added to the rules, I played with a Flashman that had hand actuators that folded flat against the undersides of the arms. Think of the hands like a Praying Mantis' claws, that only extend to grab it's prey. In this case, the hands fold back against the lower arms and are only deployed when needed to grasp things. Taking out my Flashman's lower arms actuators also takes out it's hand in that location as well. This, along with 'Experimental Tech', and 'Hard to Maintain' were it's set backs. I hope to get someone out there with a printer to design and make my old Flashman redesign someday. I think it would be a good surprise to an opponent during a Raid mission, to find out it has deploy-able hands for grasping things. Keep on making videos my friend. I enjoy them a lot, and look forwards to each one's release each week.
@@franksmedley8619 You must like the Kell hounds. When I was a kid and booted up DOS to play Mechwarrior 2 and listened to both wolf and jade falcon intros I liked Jade Falcons the most. It was passionate. I went to a local comic shop and picked up a fasa jade falcon manual and loved them. If the neck beards want a strong female character then none better than Hazen who makes the female GW creations look like girl scouts. In my eyes jade falcon are the black watch successors. Aiden Pryde really broke the mold of what those think of the clans.
When I seen this mech in my buddies 3250 tro I was thinking that it was inspired by R2-D2 they wyvern was inspired by C3P0 and the black knight was inspired by Boba Fet
Flashman is that guy who got bullied in high school for being a little Urbie, started lifting in college, had a crazy late growth spurt, and comes back fully capable of folding you up. But he doesn't because he is humble and forgiving.
My very first Battletech RPG campaign had me piloting an -8K. I had no idea what to think about that goofy looking mech at first, but quickly fell in love with its high speed and potent short-mid ranged capabilities. Shine on you glorious Flashbulb.
The Flashman is one of my favorite designs ever since I played it in Mechwarriors 2 Mercenaries. That game didnt program Heat Sinks right so it would overheat no matter what but it still stuck with me. Similar mechs like the Crab, Black Knight, and Awesome also became well liked despite the Mechwarrior games never doing heat sinks right.
The only main line game Iv'e seen one is was MechWarrior 2; Mercenaries. I think I was still in my Commando, or Trebuchete at the time. All I remember is that I won the fight, but was missing most of my Mech when it was over.
I really liked this mech we stretched our campaign story to get one. I was a DC comics fan so I named it Funky Flashman. Never had the actual mini we used the cardstock that used to be printed when fasa did a new box so it never had the color scheme I wanted
The Flashman teaches us not to judge a book by its cover. It may look like an overgrown Urbanmech, but unlike its trash can brethren, it can actually move around a bit.
It did look like it had an urbie quality to it, I'm surprised it is a Star League era design. Here are some sugestions for future videos, The Goliath quad Mech The Imp The Exterminator The Rampage
Several of these went with Kerenski on the Exodus. The only other known origian versions known to exist is in the service of Comstar. This is a sweet mech. One mech I would like to see back on the MWO field. But MWO isn't putting out any new mech 😞 Wierd leg protrusions though. Seems useless.

All energy weapon Heavies are my favorite Battlemech type so I have a soft spot for the Flashman,
Their is a Harvey Flashman joke in here somewhere, I can just feel it.

thanks for sharing, Frank!
The one thing I don't like about most Flashman builds is I like Dakka, but thats a me problem.
There are so many obscure mech designs that I have never seen or heard of, feels like discovering a pirate's treasure!
Glad you do battletech. I enjoy your channel and critical rocket's battletech content. Jade Falcon is the bestest ever. Good day
Jade Falcon's gene banks need to have a couple of TSAR bombs blown up next to them. The best Clanner is a dead one.

thanks for the kind words.
This design looks like it was inspired by the urbie, and that makes me like it more! GJ on the vid.

It's the biggest brother in the Urbie, Flashman, Imp family...
Flashman: Who you callin an urbie?!?!

The only thing that can take this down officially is Megaman. No arguments.
MegaMan 2, right?
@@DMDMDM01 correct!

What you see: Flashman
What I see: King UrbanMech
Anyone else roles their eyes when they hear word of Blake or jihad mentioned or it just me.
It's not just you
So say we all.
As a kid, for some reason, in MW2 mercs I hated going against the flashman in the earlier campaigns.
One of my favorite mechs.
My favorite heavy battlemech.

This has always been one of my favorite mechs!
Mine as well.

One of my favorites of all time!
I’m glad you did this one. I have that picture if the one painted up like a Panda, and I never knew what it was!
it does kinda look like a panda.
Could never find the miniature when I was younger. I use a sad paper cut out with a drawing on it
good enough :D
Urbanmech, Flashman and Imp probably came from the same designer lol
At least this Mech is no Flash In The Pan...
Oof 😬
Thank u.
I prefer the newer art versions versus the old ones. I do have one in my HBS Battletech game
thank you ! I have always liked the Flashman but there is very little on it :)

Exterminator and Goliath are already in this playlist :)
@@GrimDarkNarrator good to know, will look for them
A zippo brand anti infantry flamer. Well they sure did branch out after 1000 years
laughed out loud at that. i didn't make the connection while reading this :D
the teenage version of the urbanmech before it grew up to become the IMP
hahaha flashman thinks its gonna nom nom atlas lol. oh flashman, your adorable when your angry.
WHAT??? Your Urbanmech is evolving!!!
Dun duh dun duh dun duh
Your Urbanmech evolved into Flashman!
'TRING' Congratulations!
1:08, the Mad Panda seems quite arrogant and condescending. You don't just eat an Atlas.
sorta looks like an imp great video GDN

The urban mech all grown up
i agree.
Never heard of it!
one might say it wasn't flashy enough.
It may be a good mech but the Flashman and the Imp were always goofy looking to me.
I asked for this one. XD
My favorate Trash-can mech other then the Urban Mech.
The Freshman has some decent firepower, even the downgraded variant.
"nom nom nom"? Jeesus, these illustrators/kids need to think about how embarrassing that is to put on a mech from 3050.
Uribe: Daddy?
Son!
