Scarlet Sprites does the original comparison in his review, but I am actually comparing the Neo Geo mini controller (which was released recently & flawed in design) to the 8BitDo so people can see the differences, since the 8BitDo can be used with the NG mini. Sorry if I didn't make that clearer, hope my reply makes sense. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
That neo geo Japanese commercial was very interesting. It was slightly risque and it was marketed to a more upscale customer. Also the woman was much younger than the guy. It had a lot going on lol. The controller is the future because now you can blur the lines between emulation and real hardware by playing with proper controllers that are pretty close to the original.
RIGHT?! Everything you said about that commercial I felt was also true, lol! Culture at that time especially. I agree, 8BitDo is doing the "lords work" for us.
Another thing worth pointing out is that this controller also works in wired mode. Most 8bitdo controllers will have very little latency when using it over a USB cable. This is specially neat for people who live in places with lots of interference that may make wireless controllers less reliable.
Thanks for your review 🙂 I'm using my 8BitDo Neo Geo controller on a Raspberry Pi 4 running Recalbox. It's connected via Bluetooth and it works flawless. On-the-fly turbo (hold the Star button and press a face button) is a convenient feature I use quite often. I suspect they labeled the Start/Select buttons with the +/- labels because they intended on having Switch compatibility. I have a Switch and plan on connecting the controller to it eventually but going by what others have said it does requires a separate dongle. Fortunately I have this dongle so it won't be an issue for me but it'd be nice if they release a firmware update with official Switch compatibility. Have a great weekend!
I was thinking the same thing, I could use this for mame for my SNK games. And the rest of the arcade collection since the controller have a 6 button layout!
Neo geo sw emulation is probably the best and most accurate sw emulation there is. (fb Neo) I guess the NG mini uses fb Neo bc it's an excellent emulation and device I even think the not clicky NG mini controller is a decent controller but the 8bitdo Version is of course more interesting. Mine arrived today and I dig it. Put a silicone grip on the dpad but it's not fitting perfect. I saw a video from" Der Bär bastelt" on yt and he printed a grip. ☮️
I get this geared towards emulation on PC. As an owner of the mini and the arcade stick pro, it bugs me they only made it compatible with the mini and not asp too. They are both official snk products. Wanted to mess around with 2p on the asp with the new clicky pad. 😔 Great review as always.
I thought it worked on the Neo Geo mini. It was actually made for that. Which came with the non chicky controller. It is the ASP that it doesn't work on. Which has better emulation and the silent one works on it as well. Which is why it's mind blowing why these clicky ones don't work for it.
The plus / minus butons are probably for people who have become adapted to the nintendo switch plus minus icons. it's kinda dumb but that's where it seems to have started. No other explanation I could come up with.
They probably planned Switch compatibility as well if I'm not mistaken it already works with beta firmware, but not with the dongle that comes with it, but the 8bitdo bluetooth adapter 2. On the MiSTer those extra buttons work just fine and are great for things like bringing the OSD menu, reading/writing savestates on cores that support it and so on.
It's a bummer, but for me using emulation it's a godsend. Knowing 8BitDo unless they are limited by licensing, they will find a way to make it work on original hardware, hopefully.
Great review, needed that info before I purchase it.
One of the few reviews that actually compares the original controller side by side, thank you

@@NEONBattleGlitch cual es mejor el neo geo o el M30 de 8bitdo??
@@jesusrolandohernandezperez4381 personal preference, but I like the thumbstick on NeoGeo controller instead of the m30 d-pad.
I love this controller! It's so epic! 💥💥🙏

Been breaking mine in on fightcade 🔥🔥🔥 Great controller!

Yea I prefer wired too
Thank you! Your opinion means a lot to me. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 keep up the awesome work

It’s really fantastic!
I have two 8bitdo controllers the SN30 Pro and SN30 Pro plus it felt good in fighting games or classic arcade games.
I wish modern consoles would use this type of joystick in analog mode
I want this soo bad but they don't have it here in the UK great video x
Oh that’s terrible! Are you going to try eBay? I wonder why 8BD doesn’t sell their products in the UK?
AliExpress doesn’t ship to the UK?
I don't use that website bad experience

Will this work on the ps4/ps5 with its huge list of shmups?
I just wish the analogue pocket was supported without an adapter 😥

I feel like a lot of people will have this sentiment as well, and for the original hardware. Hopefully they are working on something in the background

@@syn.n8110 Correct, it does work on the NGmini & doesn't work on ASP. They were saying that's what bothers them.
@@NEONBattleGlitchThanks, I miss read.
I think the plus and minus is for potential future Switch compatibility.
I think I heard it already kinda works by using the 8bitdo bluetooth adapter 2 and beta firmware.

Once I found out they don't work on the Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro. I cancel all my orders. It to bad.

Nice video. would buy, but the button A B layout is in awkward place. not like original. can they be swapped out?
The 8BitDo version has the correct button layout. It was rearranged for the mini controller :)
