  • In this video, I am taking you to the secret tent shack. This place is still going strong after being up for 5 years straight. There's a little wear and tear, but for the most part, it's in very good condition. I'm spending the day warming up, eating a massive burger, and shutting it down for the season.

I think a lot of us have to correct you on one point. We were watching when you put up that tent, when you put in the floors and the walls and all your struggles with different stoves and even cringed a bit when you'd go out and try to start that snowmobile in bitter cold. But it wasn't just about the tent and don't get me wrong, we love the tent but I was one of many who told you that getting the cabin was a good thing and it'll keep you safer and busier than just the tent alone. It was more about you than the tent....the time you brought Crystal up, the time that the propane wouldn't flow and the many times that you said "amazing" to some of the great food that you've prepared. Wherever you spend you're time, the cabin or tent, we'll be watching because it's not about the structure....it's the individual. Cheers.

I love the tent because that’s where it all started and you sit and talk to us but the cabin is also great! There’s so much for you to do there and it’s nice to watch you complete things and check them off the list. Also I know you like the sawdust with old oil for starting fires but I saw another one last week where they used the cotton face pads, the little circle ones, and rubbed them in Vaseline stored them in a little circle tin pulled one out when they needed tossed it on top of the wood lit the lighter and it started immediately.

Jay, I have to say that I was sad to see the tent be shut down. It felt like an end of an era has come. Many good memories and growth have occurred within the tapestry of this little tent. She is worn now but she is trying to stay strong but the cabin is taking her place. My hope is that she will be incorporated into the cabin once she can’t stand anymore. Use her wood to make your cabin better. Take her along with you. I’m glad you explained where you’re at with the transition. Your faithful subscribers will follow you.

I am obsessed with these camping out in freezing snow videos, but I like yours the best. You explain what’s going on and some of the others are ridiculous tome. They go into the forest, spend hours setting up the tent and stove, then getting wood., spending the night then the next day packing up and leaving. I’m thinking, stay a couple of days. Enjoy the view.

What matters is the joy that you bring to yourself, and that translates through your camera to us. I’ve been consuming your content since you had 25k subscribers. Your personality drew me in and I found that the tear down of the former tent fascinating. The build of your shack tent with the metal frame that you put up all by yourself still amazes me. What I’m saying in a very, very long way is wherever you hang your hat and take us along, I’m with you. I love watching your wheels turn in your head when you’re excited about the projects that you’re working on at the moment. About the tent / cabin debate well my two cents worth is simply this; there’s a lot of folks in cabins. There’s sure as hell not many folks out in boonies in a tent at -40 bud. I see your perspective on the cabin keeping you moving forward and truth is I’ll watch wherever you are but please don’t forsake the tent. In the cold it’s special. Cheers.

Jay, my friend, that tent will be a part of you for life. All the memories and the experiences that you've had over the years I have enjoyed along with you. The scenery and the beautiful sky at night is most memorable to me and I guess that's because I love nature. You have taught me so much by what you did with the tent. Till my dying day, when I think of you, I'll always think of you in the tent, standing at the doorway, drinking your hot beverage while looking out at the snow-covered beauty of your little piece of Paradise. On your new quest in the cabin in the woods, I am looking forward to new and just as memorable times ahead of you and us, your viewers. If at all possible, always keep the tent and revisit often. It's like being torn between two lovers...one is tried and true while the other is new and exciting. Thank you for giving this 67-year-old woman something to look forward to in her old age. The best is yet to come for you, Crystal and the "Pup".

Jay. I’ve been watching this channel for likely close to 3-4 years. I’ll keep watching even if you get rid of the tent. Progressing to a cabin is normal. Jay,
I will miss the winter YOU had ! 😂 We, here in NYC, we did not get snow 😢
I just told my dormmates that I can't wait for five feet of snow. They all looked at me as if they saw a creature from out of space. 😂😂😂
I look forward to any contents you may provide because you're easy going dude, very intelligent & appears humble. I like that a lot. You love your mommie and your doggie. That speaks volumes.
(And of course your girlfriend). ❤
I've been a fan from the start of your building the tent to renting the cabin and adding more height.
Also, that's good to know... That cabins are rentable at five or thirty year contract. Cool. But you can only build upward not horizontal.😮 It would have been nice to add rooms to the left or right of the cabin. Afterall, there is a lot of landspace surrounding the cabin.
Enjoy your nonpeak hours away. 🤗🥰👍💯🙏🌅

Everyone else has said it. The channel is based on YOU. I’d watch even if you were building a sunglass hut on the beach in Barbados.
It’s totally fair to be a bit emotional about the tent. It got you where you are today. But don’t let it get in the way of your dreams for tomorrow.
    I’m with you 100%

Gosh Jay I sure love the tent and your adventures there. While I get it, the cabin is ok but my heart leans more towards the tent then the cabin. I know you love the tent but with time things do change. I'm only one voice in the crowd so it really doesn't matter much. You have to follow your heart. Best wishes in your journey forward.

We went to the old tent. Where we went had so many great memories. Friends and family were there . Seen the sky lights all aglow and glorious. Mother came to enjoy the views. The snow was deep and crusty. We missed the times we had there. Now it’s time we leave and begin a new adventure. We will miss the old times of life in the tent.

I love all your videos Jay. I really do miss the tent ones though. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing the cabin coming along but the tent videos seem more special to me. They're kind of a look at what "anyone" could do. The cabin is more of a fun DIY look, which is fun but more exclusive, if that makes sense. But at the end of the day, do what makes you happy and I will continue to enjoy the journey. Take care and be safe

I understand the cabin being your new baby Jay but don't forget the older offspring, the tent. I enjoy any and all of your brilliant videos so I'm never disappointed.

Jay, just remember - we’re watching YOU, not necessarily your location. I remember watching you struggle with getting the roof rafters at the right angle and height. It was great watching you overcome all these obstacles and challenges. You! Not the place. YOU! Now get out there and keep being you!

Hey Jay! Man I really enjoy watching your channel! It's fun and educational watching you work on the place. I love the idea that you would rather hear from us your subscribers when it comes to needing advice on how to do some things. Rather than Google or youtubing it. Like you said, what's the fun in that. I hate to see that winter is over. Like you I love the winter time. It's my time of year. So until next winter, I'm happy to watch you work on the cabin. Which is looking superb! Especially the interior. Like the way you have done the loft. Makes me wish I had one 😂. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us and appreciate all the hard work you do for your channel! Until next time, looking forward to the next one! Hope yall have a great week!
