If we're gonna be anal about terminology, it's Force in this game, not Wind. That's why the spell is "Zan" instead of "Garu," too. It's more like "the force of nature" in general rather than wind in particular, which is why Nuwa's clay attack is labelled as Force despite not having basically anything to do with Wind.
What’s interesting is that the only time a mainline SMT game uses the wind element is SMT: Strange Journey (idk if that is count as mainline, but considered as one though).
Hah, you said anal, hah. This very miniscule detail has me bursting out laughing, anal, hah.
@heyyodude8637 it's as close to mainline as you can get given it was originally supposed to be smt 4. But yeah the whole clay move confusion wouldn't be a problem if they actually brought back the earth element they used to have for some of their games like digital devil saga, it's so weird they don't use it anymore despite the fact there are a ton of earth themed mythical figures.
Bruh watching you go through that fight with Nuwa without once using a force dampener when she was charging up was anxiety enducing holy shit. Congrats on that victory, you damn well earned it!
Now I think you guys might be ready to take on that menorah challenge, it is very much recommended to do it to get more optional but very useful story+ demon content
OH yeah, they can't do the guys in the second zone unless they knock out the one in the first zone.
53:13 I mean, i genuinely don't think anyone would mind if we could just get some sorta bonus episode here and there of just reading the demon backgrounds, especially knowing that some of them might be some sorta weird quiz. (Which might be new to vengeance, i don't recall that quiz being in the original.) Mythology knowledge *does* help a lot of demon interactions, for lack of a better word, hit better after all.
It's new to Vengeance. They're putting a lot of emphasis on the demons themselves this time around, so they really seem like they're trying to reward people for reading more about them and getting to know them. They drop genuinely interesting lore in the demon haunts and they often like to reward players for paying attention to their demons
22:27 The Jack O Lantern with the clutch dodge. Congrats on the first try with Nuwa!
32:10 Holy moly, the protagonist actually de-morphed. (Outside of those moments he sits on a bench with Aogami).
Fun fact: Nuwa is voiced by the same voice actor (Laura Post) who voiced Yoshizawa from Persona 5 Royal!
By the way, force dampeners make this fight a joke if you notice her pattern. Though kudos to one-trying her. She's a bit of a tough one going in blind.
Also, fusing Angel into a High Pixie would've made him usable in that fight. Don't forget those special fusions. There are some great demons in there.
Fun voice actor fact: Aogami has the same VA as Revolver Jesus from P3R. Let that sink in.
49:30 Oh hey, I just noticed they brought back the alignment indicator. You're currently Chaotic, because your world map icon is spinning counterclockwise. If you were lawful it'd be going clockwise, and if you were neutral, it'd be wiggling back and forth.
That demon quiz is all from the lore in the demon compendium. Or, for the second one, just knowing Greek.
56:03 AYAKASHI MONTHLY SPOTTED! Nocturne people know.
One of my favorite moments in the game! Now you know the truth!
I’m just relieved that we’re out of that wasteland of a place, even if it’s for the time being.
Variety should be welcome in the netherworld, though I don’t know whether or not it actually is.
The other areas of the Netherworld coming up are a lot more visually distinct, so I think you will be satisfied in that regard.
On account of this series almost always being post apocalyptic, there shall always be *some* version of a wasteland, although, if memory serves, future areas do enough to get a different vibe from each other, while still, you know, being an apocalyptic wasteland.
10:38 we all know why you asked for a picture... Evan trying to find a good excuse like always 😂
I'm curious about the truth as well! Story has caught me interested!
Oh, finally! We get to know what's going on in the plot.
i see you were panicking that you forgot about dampeners. the bosses useally use there strongest skill after using the magi for criting. and love to see you block to not get criticaled was smart when you do run out of dampeners. btw i dont remember if its a full moon or a new moon when you fuse monsters you might get a random monster instead of what you were fusing for, so be carful and use it to get random demons maybe ya can get lucky.
Time for the bombshell reveal
But can we handle the truth?
3:00 Ippon datara- I don't like the diet building putting chemicals in the water that turn the effin frogs gay!
3:40 Jaki Turdak
Nuwa in default form
Gawr Gura- I have a foot fetish
Nuwa in battle form
Darwin Watterson- AHHHHHHH! ABORT! ABORT!
10:12 Those aren't nails
10:46 You just want to keep looking at her nasty feet! Don't you, Evan!?
11:48 Angel is non binary in this game. They just made a new model for weird reasons. I miss Persona's angel.
23:38 Please play Fire Emblem Three Houses
I like how Yoko tore into Yakum
45:02 Better to info dump now rather than later. A lot of villans info dump at the end lately and it ruins game immersion.
8:52 Young man count
Young man total- 35
This Yakumo guy looks like such a try-hard. I love it
Well well well
TLDR;Spoilers for SMT III: Nocturne below....
18 years ago, the events of SMT III occurred. Specifically the True Demon Ending. God used the last of his strength to perform 1 final miracle: resurrecting Tokyo and all it's people who died as the result of SMT III's inciting incident. That is all.
The "True Demon Ending" is officially called the "destruction ending" according to both the English and Japanese guide books. We also know that this CAN'T be the same Tokyo as Nocturne, because there are multiple confirmations that this world works differently and the Demi-fiend subquest directly states, frequently, that the fiends are all coming from "another world." This game is clearly a *spiritual* successor to Nocturne but in-universe, I am almost certain that it's not a story sequel to Nocturne. This world just is incredibly similar to Nocturne's world.
