He is the main character of this entire musical and this is the musical version of his story as depicted in the Odyssey (this is like the sequel to the Iliad the story of the greek vs troy war ). In case it wasnt clear the voice in the clouds was a god. A quick definition of Animatics is that it's the rough draft stage used to plan an animation, and use low-resolution images to convey timing. This is an unwinnable situation for Odysseus. I've heard others say that there is no guarantee the boy would grow up and do those things, but given the gods' involvement, it's basically a prophecy. In Greek mythology, if someone predicts it's going to happen, then it's going to happen, period. He can spare the life of a now innocent child but the caveat is that in doing so, he dooms himself, his family and his kingdom. Or he kills the boy, and he has to live with that for the rest of his life, affecting his future choices. I don't know what the culture of the time would have felt about doing it, but I doubt it would be seen as 'good' or 'honorable.' So there would be consequences to how he is seen too. I 100% blame the gods for giving out such terrible prophecies in the first place. If the baby is such a big problem for the gods, why don't THEY take care of it? But nooo. Gotta blackmail a mortal to do it himself. Because he doesn't have enough trauma already lol.
@blueteller Right? Unfortunately, the gods are just as tied up in the war as the humans are by familial bonds. For example, Apollo had a son who was a Trojan prince, and he was murdered by Achilles. Apollo guided the arrow that would kill Achilles in retaliation. The gods have a funny relationship with fate, and I'm not qualified or knowledgeable in that field of study, but from what I've seen, they can't normally fight it either. They have an idea of what's going to happen, and they may not like it, but tough cookies. There are exceptions, such as Athena's 'birth,' but as for who makes these decisions, and why, I have no idea.
Zeus say in the song, "The Gods will make him know." Meaning the God will make sure he becomes an Avenger by influencing him. Mortal lives are just a game to them anyways.
Just to clarify (hopefully, this my understanding of it, correct me if I’m wrong) this is an animatic not animation. The difference is animation is fully finished, characters are fully/properly coloured in and you won’t see those sketch lines. Animatic is between story boarding and animated. It’s a bit more simplistic, especially in colour, and you’ll see drawn arrows showing movement instead a bunch of frames to create movement. I might wrong, but that’s been my understanding.
It can be helpful to listen to the music first and then watch the animatics after, like you have done here. I would personally recommend to continue watching gigi's (the creator of this animatic) channel for these songs as they tend to be very well done and show the whole story, she doesn't have an animatic for every single song but she has a lot of the main ones. There is one animatic called" just a man" that takes place after this and shows the rest of what happens sort of like how the songs connect to each other. Great reactions though would love if you could keep doing these, the creator of the music also released a new album sort of recently and its really good so I recommend to stick with it as we see Odysseus's story.
