Agreed. I am not a fan of the original Traveller but this looked so good. It would have been wow to have shifted a Moggie onto a V8 Landie back in the day!
Well, You've got the countryside for it over there. Mind you, there's also some pretty kick arse drivers roads in mid Wales too...... Unfortunately, you also have the Welsh traffic police hiding in every other layby and friggin' hedgerow with their speed guns. Even a lot of the regular police think that the local traffic cops are bastards !
This is real nice. Some hybrids turn out very well, I remember seeing an MG two seater on a range rover chassis and running gear ........ looked great and with a low centre of gravity, it was very good off road..
This little Morris Minor 4x4 would have some tremendous advantages over larger 4x4 vehicles, as it would be able to get into areas that it's larger counterparts couldn't get into
I thought I was seeing things when I passed it on the way home, fantastic Kiwi thinking outside the box and well executed tranformation. Glad I know the story behind it now.
Absolutely brilliant. I love what you created. I built a woody beetle a few years back. I love to drive it. So I know the amazing feeling you get behind the wheel. 👍😍
I really hope he washed that thing pretty good after going through that saltwater cuz all I can see in my head is him 6 months from now patching up rust
@@smkh2890 On the original travellers the roof and rear and side panels are aluminum: at the rear the weight is in the wood (and rear axle, diff springs etc.)
Wowowowow! Wow! Wow! I just love the Morris Minor Traveller!! (1958 model). It was my first car and would have been with me today, if I could have restored it myself…. I also had one of the first Suzuki SJ 10 off road vehicles. Gosh!!! 😮. Imagine if I could have done what you have 😱❤️❤️❤️ Have fun and enjoy. (An enthusiastic from South Africa)
I seen one today here in Egypt looking to see one that was off road based. Well, it seems I'll definitely build it and lift this rare find because I thought it was the most beautiful chunk of metal I've ever seen. Half ton solid axel swap with a custom 6inch lift on a new stronger chassis running on leaf spring and shocks. Your build inspired me to take this and run with it. To top it off, your paint job on this beast is effin brilliant. Cheers from Egypt man
Here in Aussie I meet up with a English bloke who did a conversion with a Landrover and old Anglia body, -- that would have been back in the 1980's, he had it on with beach and it went really well, he did say he had done a couple of conversion's back in England as well.
My dad had a Moggie Traveller when I was a kid. I used to stand in the passenger footwell so I could see over the dash. Long before seat belts. This one is awesome 👌
I see what my old man says now about fast changing shots which don't let you focus on the car, and I'm young. Stop with the clever editing and show us it in nice and steady shots.
That is fantastic I thought, if only he had made it out of plastic when I saw the salt water use, but hey, he did make it out of plastic, well as near as you can get! Well done sir, congratulations, wonderfully conceived.
Awesome little car, when I first saw it I thought it must have had a Harry Firth running gear from Oz , if you remember the Holden HQ to WB in limited 4WD numbers. However, youve cleared that one up with the Vitara running gear given the shorter wheelbase, hope it gives you years of satisfaction! Thanks for the video clip! 😄👍👌
Some 30 years ago in a classic car mag I saw something advertised as 'Strange Rover'. It was a Rover P5b body on a Range Rover chassis, kinda the big luxurious brother of this. I didn't have the money.
Love this,my brother has an Austin mini van, always thought it would be great on a vitara platform. Only improvement I would make to this one is to have it in pickup truck body. 👌
A guy in the uk made one in the late 80’s lived in mansfield Nottinghamshire. He used the moggy two door body plus a Range Rover chassis cut down and still used the V8 rover engine. it was for sale and I wanted to buy it unfortunately the mileage I traveled to work and the V8 thirst and the wife stopped me from getting I do regret not buying it.
Very nice. I've a 52 Hillman minx californian convertible. I'ld like to try this. Wonder if the wheel base would work. Can't find a hood ornament here in Canada. Anywhere. Cool.looking vehicles
Fabulously well concieved and executed, it simply looks right.
Agreed. I am not a fan of the original Traveller but this looked so good. It would have been wow to have shifted a Moggie onto a V8 Landie back in the day!
Yes, all the proportions are right, he didn't overdo it like most people would
The best part is its daily driver. I love it. He is a cool dude
"It's a mean as woka bro!" 🤣
You just have to love Kiwis, and this awesome Morrie 👍
Waka, the Maori word for boat or vessel. Now used to talk about cars and stuff too hahaha
I absolutely f*cking LOVE it!!!!! I would totally daily drive that here in Wales.
I concur

Someone built a very similar Moggie on a Vitara chassis in Swansea some years ago which is still running around.
This is real nice. Some hybrids turn out very well, I remember seeing an MG two seater on a range rover chassis and running gear ........ looked great and with a low centre of gravity, it was very good off road..
Love it!
Both the Vitara and the Minor are great cars
But not a vitara body on Morris running gear.....
This little Morris Minor 4x4 would have some tremendous advantages over larger 4x4 vehicles, as it would be able to get into areas that it's larger counterparts couldn't get into
Very nicely engineered!
Meticulously precise, superb attention to detail, a clever combination!
I thought I was seeing things when I passed it on the way home, fantastic Kiwi thinking outside the box and well executed tranformation. Glad I know the story behind it now.

👍😍
"I always wanted one of those big American Woodies, but I could never afford one..."
Makes the entire box out of carbon fiber
My grandma would have absolutely loved this. She had the original version!
lovely job. My father had a Moggie when I was a child, so have a lot of fondness for them. This is a cool conversion you've done.
Ultimate Morris minor custom car... seen many and had one in my younger years... this is a beauty!
The proportions look perfect - much better than many modern SUVs!
Best conversion I have ever seen excellent n very well done
I really hope he washed that thing pretty good after going through that saltwater cuz all I can see in my head is him 6 months from now patching up rust
Those are freshwater streams running down the beach to the sea, but yeah still not great.
And it seemed as if a fair bit of it was carbon fibre anyway...
Also half of it is wood & carbon fiber
Hate to see cars going into the sea, it wrecks them, no matter how much you wash them down afterwards.
He looks like the sort of guy that probably knows what he’s doing....👍😊
That is just the coolest 4x4 ever. Nice done.
Well done mate, you've made a cracking machine there !
Wow..I wasnt expecting the carbon fiber. Very cool suv
In fact. I was thinking about the weight of the original Morris body.

Awesome job and beautiful car!!
Now that is a truly inspired concept...and a stunning build! 😎👍🏼
By rights, this should offend me, but I love it - maybe I'm not the car puritan I pretend to be

That's one variant of the Minor that BMC didn't think of
So different, and so beautiful!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
My dad had a Moggie Traveller when I was a kid. I used to stand in the passenger footwell so I could see over the dash. Long before seat belts. This one is awesome 👌
Always loved morries but this is amazing!
Wow old surfer dude..nice ride! ;)
Wow! This is a awesome conversion!! Good job!
What year and model Suzuki did you use for the running gear?
Can do with this in my life right now - pure magic !!!
I see what my old man says now about fast changing shots which don't let you focus on the car, and I'm young. Stop with the clever editing and show us it in nice and steady shots.

Pls feature this again! Pls talk about this some more! Really nice ride!!!
Thats so cool. I'm now inspired to have a go at something similar, maybe with a big old Humber and old Range Rover. Good job.
Love it I think it's fantastic 👏
He did a great job on this car/truck!
This is a RIDICULOUSLY entertaining channel.
A brilliant build. Hats off to you sir!
Congratulations on a stunning vehicle.
Just shows how good the Suzuki Vitara is! My first car was a Morris Minor!
Now I've seen everything. What a great way to enjoy your day.
Looks GREAT, Love the Morris Minor.

I had a pick up, standard except wheels. Everybody loved it. Once you have had one, your smitten!
This is bloody marvelous! Why would you want any other vehicle?
A reliable Morris that won't overheat. I love it.
So cool a car!!!! I'd love one of these for the beach in Puerto Rico!!!
Such a perfect vehicle, I always fancied doing this with a modified range rover chassis. Thanks ;)
