@John Smith I disagree. The point of overlanding is getting out there, meeting people, seeing incredible things and making the world a better place. Too many people sell themselves short, can't get off their damn couch, are too worried about the bullshit politics on both sides and think it takes $ to do stuff, when really it takes determination.
@John Smith I don’t know about one percenters. Mogs of this vintage go for around 30k. Then you do what you want or need to. There are plenty of people ( and I
Mean thousands) that buy stuff 100k and up. Look at sprinter vans right now. Crazy.
Wow, as a trucker, and someone into overlanding, that looks like so much fun. Almost like off roading a semi.
Ha, I suppose that probably isn't far from the truth. Thanks for watching.
Michael, here's a tip for some of your Uni Mog followers.
When I repowered my 89 Fleetwood Limited 37' RV from Gasoline to Diesel, and swapped out the C6 3 speed transmission for an Allison 5 speed 1000 World transmission, I didn't want to mess with a lot of speedo accuracy issues. So I called SpeedHut Gauges and had them custom builld me a GPS driven Speedometer. This way it didn't matter what my gear ratio in the rear end was, or what tires I wanted to run. Since the transmission is an electronic controlled transmission we built and programed a stand alone TCM computer that would operate separate from the manual (non electronic) P7100, 12 valve, Hot Rodded Cummins motor I hooked it to. They took the pictures of the Isspro Gauges that were in my RV and matched them perfectly. I also had them upgrade the speedo from 80 mph to 100 mph. And they sold me new custom faced tachometer, boot gauge, Pyro and fuel pressure gauges that look like the Isspro gauges, other than the tiny logo change placed in the same spot as the OEM gauges. Money well spent and it looks totally stock. I believe they have a big gauge that would work in the Uni Mog applcations too.
Thank you for the info. That sounds like a great solution. Makes a ton of sense. 💥
Your welcome! I'm a 70 YO Hot Rodder and don't want to pass on to the next life not sharing knowledge I've learned over the years to others who are like me.
The cool part is I'm still learning from the younger guys like you... Love that Military Camper. The bed on the back is a brilliant idea! And I love the slide out porch with the steps that go parallel to the body. Makes entry for old guys less of a challenge.
I never knew how much i wanted a Unimog until i watched this video! Great video!
Thank you! They are a ton of fun.
Aw man, so jealous. The old style mogs are beautiful 😍👌🏼
Thank you, they are great. Thanks for watching.
Great set up there. Although, for the people that will never end up with something like this: you can actually still explore the world in almost any vehicle, with no modifications. :D
Totally agree- it’s not the vehicle- it’s all about getting out there and seeing the world.
Nice job that things awsome.
Thank you!
it's so nice that you travel The World so inconspicuously.
Much safer to not be inconspicuous
Hhahahhahhahahahahahhahahahahhahaha
Slightly bigger than my Suzuki Jimny camper. 😁Very impressive! 🙌🏻
Ha ha. It is, both they both can do the job.
Was driving through St. Andrews state park yesterday and snapped a picture of this awesome rig! So cool to see it in person!
Awesome, thank you! Really enjoyed St Andrews.
This is the ultimate!! Good for you man!! So well done! Safe and happy traveling!!
Thanks man! Appreciate the support.
Absolutely legendary! Incredible build!
Thank you, appreciate it.

First thought what did i see
I rewatched the first 11 seconds twice before stopping and starting the whole vid to do a toilet break, rewind and grabs snacks
Mateee! You got yourself a you beaut wiz bang fukn awesome rig! I gotta start from scratch watchin the whole scratch!
Thank you, appreciate it!!
awesome. greetings from Germany! unimog in this kind out of germany makes me proud!
Unimogs are awesome! Thanks for watching
I have one somewhere - it's about 7cm long ;) It'll likely be with my other toy cars :)
Hope to see you around the Overland Expo again. Great rig and inspiration.
Thank you! I am hoping to be teaching at all three this year as my continued around the world journey is still being impacted by covid. Hoping they are a go but we will see.
Damn dude I wish I had millions of dollars. This is exactly what I would want. So sick!
Dont need millions. Buy an old truck and outfit it yourself. Pretty inexpensive actually- especially compared to the stuff that is sold on the market commercially.
Despite your rig being ever so slightly over built, your head does not seem to be overinflated.
Ha Ha, thanks! Thank you for watching too.
When things turn to cr@p “overbuild” or “overprepared” tend to become barely enough to survive…
Honestly that’s bloody good fuel economy for the size of the rig, & the weight of it.
Looking forward to watching the trailer video.
Thank you, it has been pretty good MPG- of course I also go pretty slow!
People don’t quite grasp that the motor is not a power house like a ford or chev with well over 300 horses. It’s smaller but geared to get it done. Not winning any races but certainly finishing them, little bit more turtle style!
This beast attracts a ton of attention. Exactly why I wouldn't want this.
Totally agree with you except.... from my experience, the more attention and the less you look stealth or like the military the better off you are from a security standpoint in most of the world.
@@drivetheglobe Interesting point and you have far more experience in these matters than I'll ever have. Thanks for the reply and all the best.
Absolutely brilliant - can’t wait to see inside. This vehicle is such a cutie!
Thanks for watching!
Hello, The very first UNIMOG in JAMAICA when it was BWI. the owner used it as a farm tractor, I was a teen mid 50s & did drive it ,
MB, no longer sells them in USA, poor sales, but if you CANT get there in a UNIMOG, then you are going no where Some models now you can switch from RHD, to LHD at will, too old to bother being on the road,in an RV ( 79 ) I really loved what you have done with your rig , I’ll watch the part 2 cheers 🇩🇪🇩🇪🏴🇬🇧🏴🏴🇺🇸
Thank you for the support. Too bad they stopped selling them in the states- but boy are the new ones super expensive anyway. Cheers!
Awesome. the modifications of Unimog is excellent & solid. lot of detail involved in building. the same vehicle is needed for all types of terrain. Best wishes. TC. Love from India. 🇮🇳
Thanks a lot! Appreciate the support.
Nice video
Thank you!
Mate that’s some nice rig 😍👌
Thank you! Love it.
Nice setup 👍 I love unimogs
Thank you, appreciate it & thanks for watching.
Love it .. Screams wild and awesome adventure !!
Thanks! We love it too!
thank you for your detail video on your overland transport as great setup
Thank you, appreciate it.
Gorgeous. I would love this lifestyle. Wow!!
Thank you!
Wow looks awesome😍 we are converting a mog at the moment. What a beast!
Awesome! They certainly are beasts and pretty reliable too. Thanks for watching. Casnt wait to see how yours turns out.
Nice truck! Its great to build a vehicle and modify it yourself overtime because the end result will be something that suits your needs and style of travel better than any off the shelf camper. Cheers!
Very true- and even then I manage to find things I would do different :) Building an all new truck now, maybe I will get it all right this time? Thanks for watching.
I saw this guy well camping
What is well camping?
You were in gloucester
Wow! I have a new fav 4x4 channel.
Thank you, really appreciate it.
Awesome vid Mike! If you're ever in NM, feel free to crash at our house!
Thanks Peter, I eventually will get there, look ya up when I do.
I saw a truck that looked just like this on 1700 south in slc while driving lyft this evening, the 30th of may, 2021.
It looks awesome!!!
New owner is in SLC so you probably saw it. Miss it already!
@@drivetheglobe that’s cool! I mean, it’s sad that you sold it, but that’s cool that I saw the actual one!
Nice car! Or nice truck! Here in Brazil, there is a guy called MK Expedition. He has Dodge RAM 2500 with a lot of resources. And he has a lot of travel and expeditions around the country.
Thanks for watching. Working on a new one now😀
Good luck on your journey!
Thank you! Appreciate it.
Congrats men!!!! Lovely!!!!
Thank you!
What a great overview Mike !
Thanks Jim, Doin any riding or is it too cold?
Hello from Fairbanks, Alaska. Awesome vehicle!
Hello! Thank you for watching!
Subbed immediately 💜💜💜
Thanks for the support.
Awesome build my friend! Kudos!!
Thank you!
@@drivetheglobe I always laugh when I look at a Mog. I think to myself: "Now, THAT'S a Big Boy truck!!" Lmao
Incredible rig, thank you for making this video!
Thank you for watching. Appreciate it.
I have a '78 425 u1300 on tractor tyres. I serious like the trailer concept of this expedition vehicle, not planning on getting stuck but I have an electric winch to put on the front.
Very nice! The trailer is a plus when you want to leave camp and explore without your whole house.
@@drivetheglobe definitely, did you ever consider a four wheel trolley trailer when you started spec'ing out what you wanted at the design stages?...
New sub nice rig
Thanks for the sub! Appreciate it.
Absolutely awesome setup, love it!
Thank you, I love it too!
Great video pal
Thank you! Appreciate it.
Excellent video and a very capable rig!! Keep the videos coming...please!
Thank you! Will be more videos :)
Come to Australia. Tons of off roading here. Be good to see how your rig handles the tracks.
Australia is on the route, just not sure of when yet. Thanks for watching.
And get killed by Emu? No way man...

Goodluck with the fuel prices
So dope!! Love the build and love what you're doing with it.

Cool ! 👍 😎
Thank you! Cheers!

Nice...
Thank you for watching.
Great job, super video.
Thank you!
Much respect for your build. I own a Earthroamer and plan to start heading west in mid to late March from Atlanta. Hopefully see you out on the road.
Thanks, Good luck on your travels, hope to meet somewhere on the road!
Fragile!
Impressive👍 🔥🐲
Thank you!
Good Recycle for merc .🙏🎉 🔥
Love the mogs!
Nice setup mate. I’m not quite there🤘🤘🤘
Thank you- it does take a lot of time!
Great job, Mike! Interesting and informative. ❤️ the Big Orange Puppy.
Thanks!
I feel like you could do a full expedition on Mars with this thing haha.
Ha Ha, that certainly would be interesting. Thanks for wtching.
This is not a vehicle, this is the whole house on wheels.
It is a little of both for sure.
Yes
I passed you on NYS Thruway near Junius Ponds Service Area. Good luck on your adventure. Oh I just saw your newer video about selling the Mog.
Too funny, you actually passed the new owner on their way to its new home in Utah.
Great Job
Thanks for watching!
he starts describing his setup at 4:53
Thanks for watching.
Wow looks great! Working on building out our van now!
Thank you, and good luck with the build. I am doing the same on a new truck too.
@@drivetheglobe Nice! Good luck with the truck build.
Really enjoyed this
Thank you! Appreciate it!
Great ! Congratulations !
Thanks for watching!
Not my vehicle of choice for off-roading but in the top 5.
There are alot of great choices, Thanks for watching.
@@drivetheglobe Vehicles of choice:
1. BV206/BV210
2. Sherp/Sherp 10 wheeler
3. DUKW
4. Unimog
then it gets a bit vague due to the range of choice:
Land Rover, Hummer, army vehicles
5. TATRA T813 - maybe this should be above Unimog !
I know you wanted to know ;)
Really cool crew, what design and equipment.
Wish you all the best on your journey.
Thank you very much!

Hello, des fois les sous-titres en français c’est très bien aussi, très belle vidéo et attelage 👍
Merci d'avoir regardé la vidéo !
it's like an airplane :)
Well... I wish it could fly too :)
12 mpg is awesome considering what you can do with it.
It is! There is better but there is also a lot worse. Thanks for watching.
UNIMOG=UNIversal MOtorGerät, DOKA=DOppel KAbine (double cabin)
Love my Doka❤️
If you plan to come to Quebec,Canada. Let us know 🤟
I do, and will. Hope things will get back to normal soon.
Why is this narrated by Vince Vaughn?
😂
You make me miss my old 404 ( see Unimog wall climb video here on RUclips ). I think I will build another.
Yes! Love the old ones too!
saw this in salt lake haha
You did! New owners are located there.
Wow
Thanks for watching.
Gotta be honest, not super interested in Unimogs, and the mountain bike on top is what made me click. Looked at titles and thumbnails of your other vids and sub’d. Look forward to checking em out. You look like you’re livin’ the life!! 🤙
Thanks for the support, cycling is one of my main focuses. Heading out tomorrow in Mississippi.
Hell......You're ready for the Zombie apocalypse!!!!LOL. Fantastic Rig!!!
Thank you- now lets hope we dont have any zombie apocalypses!! :)

Great vid Mike!
Thank you!!
Seen this truck in Pensacola
Awesome! Yep was there! Thanks for watching.
Good dam
Thanks for watching.
Great build , what country’s did he drive in this , ?
That truck was really only driven throughout North America.
This is only production car that the average guy can buy that can go from pole to pole.
Ha Ha, that might be true. May be a few others though. Thanks for watching.
Nice lots of fab and thought went into that rig, I used to have a 67 411, not near as tricked out (not tricked out at all bone stock wabi sabi bare bones mog) but hell i lived in the thing for 3 months and it would go anywhere easy to fix and just a cool rig. I recently bought a 96 F350 PSD 4x4 box truck currently using it too move from Florida to Ar its made several runs but I keep thinking about building it for this overlanding thing.
The mogs certainly go anywhere, just not that fast! The F350 is a great truck too and certainly a strong candidate for an overlanding rig.
What a great vehicle! Your life seems to be one long adventure. I hope im not overstepping but how do you manage to afford to stay on the road for such an extended period of time? The fuel alone is a tremendous expense. Anyway thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Thank you. I retired and sold everything. Actually a lot cheaper living on the road than having a fixed house expense.
Love almost eavery aspect of it if only it would curse at 60 when on the highway I guess you just have to learn patience
Yes indeed.. I’m never in a rush. 😂. Thanks for watching.
My buddy runs 406's ....50 mph....tractor.
Interesting.
The truck & trailer looks like 150-250k $ budget, depending on how much you outsourced the work. Fabrication, parts and suspension adds up exponentially fast. Do you have the numbers on this project?
Regards,
Don't have detailed numbers as Ive had the truck for 14 years and have done alot of work over the years. The trailer ball parks at $40k with almost all the work done in house except the frame and skin. Either way, as you know it always seems to add up to way more than you wanted to spend.
8:56 ....so how do you keep the electronics from getting damaged or shorted by water, and other elements from the environment 🤔
Electronics in that part of video are in the battery compartment so they are covered from the elements. The shutoff and battery tender are sealed, and the box is quita a bit off the ground so deep water is not an issue. Thanks for watching.
Congratulations !!! If you come to Chile do not hesitate to contact me, I will do my best to help you. Where did you buy the aircraft radio panel ?
Thank you! Will definitely look you up. Got it through sports pilot shop I believe.
Hi, I am Mack and I am from Greece. I love your truck a lot and I use to drive one the same as yours only with two doors. Why did you choose not to have a driver seat with air shock absorbers, it's way comfortable?
I put recaro seats in that are comfortable, tough to fit air seats with the low ceiling.
TOYOTA Style UNIMOG @

Thanks like your rig a lot. Ever since I saw one of these I’ve thought I’d like to get one... so cool, BUT! You can’t just say you have a horn and then not honk it! That’s just wrong. You should just have a video on that. Freaking people out! Ha! But may be your nicer than the garbage. Truck driver that did it to me as a youth. Huh, ever since that exchange I wanted to drive a garbage truck and scare small children.... may be I should join some sort of support group. ?
Ha. I treat the horn with a lot of respect. And. It scares the hell out of me 😂. It’s loud. Truck had a regular horn too, for all of the normal situations. Thanks for watching.
@@drivetheglobe My car horn is normal, but I have an electronic horn, sounds like a locomotive horn ! When it was in for service, a technician, wondered what that switch was & hit it indoors, I guy fainted , they thought he died! happy trails , cheers 🇩🇪🏴🇬🇧🏴🏴🇺🇸
Hi there. Does the WeBoost work outside US. I could not find a similar product where I am. Thanks in advance.
My understanding is that they do not work outside of the US carriers- although I know weboost makes antennas for S America and Malaysia I believe.
