@John Smith I disagree. The point of overlanding is getting out there, meeting people, seeing incredible things and making the world a better place. Too many people sell themselves short, can't get off their damn couch, are too worried about the bullshit politics on both sides and think it takes $ to do stuff, when really it takes determination.
@John Smith I don’t know about one percenters. Mogs of this vintage go for around 30k. Then you do what you want or need to. There are plenty of people ( and I Mean thousands) that buy stuff 100k and up. Look at sprinter vans right now. Crazy.
Michael, here's a tip for some of your Uni Mog followers. When I repowered my 89 Fleetwood Limited 37' RV from Gasoline to Diesel, and swapped out the C6 3 speed transmission for an Allison 5 speed 1000 World transmission, I didn't want to mess with a lot of speedo accuracy issues. So I called SpeedHut Gauges and had them custom builld me a GPS driven Speedometer. This way it didn't matter what my gear ratio in the rear end was, or what tires I wanted to run. Since the transmission is an electronic controlled transmission we built and programed a stand alone TCM computer that would operate separate from the manual (non electronic) P7100, 12 valve, Hot Rodded Cummins motor I hooked it to. They took the pictures of the Isspro Gauges that were in my RV and matched them perfectly. I also had them upgrade the speedo from 80 mph to 100 mph. And they sold me new custom faced tachometer, boot gauge, Pyro and fuel pressure gauges that look like the Isspro gauges, other than the tiny logo change placed in the same spot as the OEM gauges. Money well spent and it looks totally stock. I believe they have a big gauge that would work in the Uni Mog applcations too.
Your welcome! I'm a 70 YO Hot Rodder and don't want to pass on to the next life not sharing knowledge I've learned over the years to others who are like me. And I love the slide out porch with the steps that go parallel to the body. Makes entry for old guys less of a challenge.
