Thanks so much for this tutorial, I was stuck on this part of my project, not wanting to pay for a texture and do an attribution. Now I can make my own and it's not that hard. I appreciate this content so much thank you!
MAN!! you have no idea how LONG I was looking to learn how to use the Magic Wand in Illustrator.!! after seeing this video, I can see how powerful and useful it is. You learn something new each day! Luv it.
Thanks! 🍻
Awesome tutorial! I was looking for a "non destructive" way to do that. Thanks!
So cool!! Thank you. Been using illustrator since 1988 and NOW learn this - HUGE!!

Been using illustrator for entirely too long to not know this method lol. Can't thank you enough for filling this massive gap in my workflow! Massively appreciated.
If you kept it going till now you have all the respect that I can give
Yes love this vid...very helpful for a newbee like me.
Hey man great tutorial, one thing I noticed that made me get this technique correct was that it had to be a "pure black" color. When I imported the vector file from Illustrator to Photoshop, I was still getting weird spots - your tip on making sure it's pure black is the advice that I needed. The other tutorials online didn't have this tip.
Bro it’s very intimidating! I’ve been slacking on it for a month now. The symbols are very confusing. You have to train your mind to
Hey, thanks for the quick response! I fixed it! I had previously tried to drag and drop the file into Illustrator which sort of locked all the textures together into one box that I could not (to save my life) successfully ungroup. This time i went to the file and selected "Open with>> illustrator and voila! all vectors are now selectable! I am new to AI and i am flailing my way through the learning curve. Thanks again for the awesome vids!
I really enjoy your channel and you are a good teacher. I might have missed sotNice tutorialng and I don't get friends with the setuper. I worked

THANK YOU! Been having some problems mastering the textures for screen printing images and your video has been the best one I have seen. After about a dozen video's and each one has generally created more questions than answers, you covered and explained the process clearly! Thanks for the video and happy to subscribe. Now on to your video list to find some more gems!
Perfect, exactly what I was looking for
Not an illustrator fan or maven - but tutorials as good as this one motivate me to become one. Thanks, man!
+R Garlin thank you so much!
you could click ''ignore white'' in advanced options in tracing panel. Much easier.
Awesome thank you for the info
Amazing tutorial! These textures made my work look soo much better. I am grateful that you actually showed how to make textures from pictures to start with, and also offered us free textures. Shows you really care about your audience. Thanks for the video man!

Great tutorial. What do you think about selecting "Ignore White" from the Advanced dropdown in the Image Trace dialogue box?
+Pixel & Bracket I was just looking for any excuse to show off the magic wand in Illustrator 😂
I expanded the specks in my file, i tried to make them white as needed but i ended up with specks that had a white fill and black outlines, could you help please, any suggestions if i need to make them white?
THANK YOU!!! I am struggling by making things more simple and fast. I'm a painter. This is allllll new to me. XD

Hi, tutvid, thanks so much for a high-quality tutorial and for providing the free texture pack for beginning-level designers such as myself.
Quick question: Are the texture included free for commercial use? Or are they only for personal use?
Great Vid, Helped tremendously!
Loved this tutorial! Really straight forward and helpful. Thanks so much!
EXACTLY WHAT I was looking for! Thank you man!
+Kyle W. Knapp Glad to hear that, Kyle!

Thanks mate! For the first time now I understand on how to use the transparency
Very useful information, thank you very much for your effort
Thank you! This was so helpful for me!
Thanks! With downloads it always helps to know what versions it will work on. Looks like the grunge vector pack will not work with CS2. I'll try it on CS6 when I have access to that version. I think it's great that you showed us how to make our own textures!
this is really helpful!
Appreciate it!❤👌
Awesome, thank you very much for your great effort, your almost videos help me alot in my previous projects. right place to get something good , thank you.
+Faheem Baig Sounds great!
thanks for the file! I needed it quick and so glad to find this!
wow - thanks for the free download! Can we use these for both commercial and personal projects? Cheers for this vid - very informative!
Thanks a lot! Great tutorial, great textures :)
Excellent video mate! Super informative, and very clear.
You did a tut using AI/PS to make an avengers style text, i love that tut and it is a powerful learning tool. it would be cool see you use these vector grunge textures to make some crazy cool text like you did in the avengers tut but using only AI and vector. Im sure there are some powerful methods in AI that would make the scratches, cracks, and scrapes look amazing and best of all, Vector! I remember doing the avengers tut follow along, i can't tell you how many times i deleted and started over on the edge cracks, i used several words not the 'Avengers' so after trying to work the cracks, rotating, changing, sizing, the brushes it was either not enough, too much , or a combination that made me not satisfied. i can remember wanting vector cracks so i could have more control over the shapes, sizes, and clarity. if you do, it would be a long video, although likely to be one of the best AI tuts out there. oh! and thanks for todays tut!
+Gravitytubes this is a great idea. Dually noted!
Thanks a lot Nat
Great Tutorial - now how do you confirm that mask/expand once you're happy with it (I can't drag this into an InDesign file for example)?
finally found thanks to the author
Do you have a video explaining how you created the file you used to apply the effects in this video. Such as how you created it, font used etc.
Thanks for all you do!!!
Thank you so much! I've been having problems with this!
awesome tutorial dude. better than anything that ive seen!
Thank you, this is a helpful video for me
Thank you very much, mate. Thumbs up!
Nice one, i enjoy the video..... its time to make fun with cracks
Very good
Thank you! Very helpful video and I love the textures. :D
Fucking amazing. Never had a clue what that transparency option did.
Awesome tutorial, top quality stuff here.
What font is that?
Man i love your tutorials. Really helping me out in my work
great video ! thank you !
I really liked this tutorial
Any hint which typeface you used for the logo? :) Thanks so much for your tutorials always sooo helpful!
Great tutorial. Thank you!
This was a great tutorial! But How do you save the file to keep the distressed transparency? I'm mocking stuff up in photoshop, and when I launch the EPS file, my distressed fragments are now a part of my design as white splotches. Any ideas?
GREAT TUTORIAL!
Great tutorial.
thank you, very helpful
thx the tutorial & the vector textures.
Great tutorial Thanks. However... when I export I ether get the image without texture, or the texture only if that is selected. Any help would be appreciated.
Obrigado, sigo os seus tutoriais!
Amazing guide
Great tutorial!
Excellent Tutorial. Just 1 question. If i used this effect and wanted to minus this from the actual font, what would be the best way to do this. im creating a logo and needing to remove the specks so that they are removed from the actual text.
I cannot find a tutorial how to exclude the mask in the negative spaces ugh!
@tutvid how do you remove the opacity map if you want to revert back?
this is all great but i dont want a black background. my background needs to be transparent. my design is not going on the internet but on a shirt. it needs to be on many different colors. and i dont want the texture being printed anywhere other than over the text. itneeds to knockout completely. how do you do this??
Great work, great tutorial, thanks so much. may i know what is the font in the logo?
Is this custom lettering or a font? Love your vids man, they're helping me every day!!
This is cool and all, but how do you actually delete all of those little shapes out of the artwork for print? I am creating screens for screen printing and need the pieces of the transparency mask actually removed from the vector itself. How do you do that?
awesome thx a lot!
Great. Did you create your intro logo in After effects? Could you do a tutorial to show us?
