Everyone's got so many special tools.Right now I can't afford any of them. You made me feel like it's possible to start practicing jewelry making without a shop full of expensive looking tools. Plus, the finished product is really awesome!!! Thank you!!!❤️

I use Star Bond in my shop - something Star Bond recommends if you have problems with your glue curing inside it's applicator bottle, they said to store it in the freezer - it will keep about 7 years versus a 5 year shelf life or 6 months depending on the temp extremes in your shop location. This is a tip I did not know and I've found a lot of crafters don't know it either. Just thought I'd pass it on.
Very nice! The results are beautiful! I’ve done metal on metal inlays, gold on silver, but never crushed stone. You’ve inspired me to give this a shot. Thanks for sharing.
Good job! Great sharp, clear camera work! Easy to see what you are doing! Ironically when I was cleaning and organizing my studio last week I found a box tucked away of different stone chips/mica/fine dust compounds that I used to use when filling voids in my wood turning work! So I realized hey I can use these in my jewlery designs! And tada you produced a video with exactly this technique! 👍👏😂
Thanks for sharing, I'm going to have to find that black glue for use in my rings. I might try the black as the base layer to help make the colors pop and then fill in the cracks with clear.
thank you for sharing this genius idea! I'll try this way to inlay different stones with lacquer instead of the black glue, because of temperature resistance.
I will use black lacquer (the thing used in kintsugi). Because i will try to use your cool technique to make a silver teapot cover(i am a silver teapot maker). I was wondering if the glue you used in video may melt down when hot water in the teapot, because the hit transfer really quick in silver. Thank you for your responding :)
In a similar video, you create a similar ring but you use UV resin. Do you currently have a preference between CA glue or UV resin? BTW, I have been sitting watching your videos for weeks during the shutdown. My skill levels is dramatically better due to you and these videos. Thank you
It really depends on what you are doing and what tools you have. CA is very easy to polish with basically whatever polish I want to use. UV resin is a little harder to get a nice high polish on it but you can get it to that point.
Just so you know, you spelled your Starbond coupon code incorrectly in the description AND your pinned comment! (forgot the "e" in "Creations"). Copy & Paste didn't work, but I was able to figure out pretty easy why it didn't work at first! I just used your code to purchase a pack! Thank you!!
After watching your videos I decided to go on Amazon and buy the same ca glues you suggested . The Bob Smith ca glue ? Now I see you are suggesting another brand . Is there a spray accelerator that I can buy/use without my Bob Smith ca going to waste ? What spray accelerator would you suggest ?
I will have to check that out later today seeing that I has some older Bob glue so I will try it with the accelerator with it and see what happens. I will let you know 😁👍
@@GomeowCreations Never mind . I went onAmazon this morning and bought a 2 ounce spray bottle of activator from Bob Smiths for. $7 ...The 8 ounce refil is only $10. with free shipping as well . Wondering your reasoning for using a file instead of a diamond blade on a rotary tool for grinding stones down. I know more control when closer to the ring but for the bulk. Is it just a preference or is a file that much superior? Nice work. Thanks for the video.
Excellent video. My friend and me made several of these inlaid rings. Two with Mother of pearl and abalone and one with welo opals. Just one question .... what did you use for polishing? Fabulustre?
weird question but do you think using butterfly scales would work instead of silver dust? I want to make a ring that uses insect fossils as an inlay and wondered if I could use butterfly scales as a kind of powder
I know nothing about butterfly scales but technically anything would work to fill the ring as along as it could be cut. I wouldn't mind trying this out 😊👍 but I have to get my hands on some scales.
@@GomeowCreations Wow thank you for your quick response! The idea is, that butterfly scales often have a very shimmery look because of their surface structure (they look a lot like opal but of course really really small). It sounds a little morbid but to get your hands on butterfly scales, I would recommend buying whole dead butterflies from a specialized website for butterfly collectors (I don't know any american websites unfortunately, as I live in Germany). Just scrub the scales off the wing with a paper or something. The best butterfly kinds for this would probably be Chrysiridia Rhipheus (very vibrant holographic metallic like colors) and the blue morpho (really nice metallic looking blue). Both kinds are relatively cheap to get your hands on and aren't endangered species or something like that. I would really love to see you using this awesome material combined with your experience! Maybe you could also use whole wing fragments in an inlay ring combined with resin, that would look awesome! Have a nice day and thanks for your answer :) I will try it out myself in a few days

0.6 to 0.8mm for the sheet metal but you can go thicker if you like but I wouldn't go any thinner. The square wire is 1.3mm

It's basically super glue 😁👍 it will stick to your metal if you make sure it is rough so it has something to grab onto.
