I worked on a restored WW2 PT Boat. We would run the boat in the summers in Oregon. I cannot imagine these guys doing patrols in the North Atlantic in the winter. It is beyond cold in that part of the world. Being in the military armoring business some years ago I was appauld at the fact that there was no armor on the old PT Boats and apparently they have not learned from those lessons even today.
It's a matter of mission parameters, the Norwegian version of this boat is rather different than the Swedish version and its primary mission is rapid insertion and extraction of marine special forces where speed and the ability to operate in shallow waters are key requirements. Armor and heavy weaponry would be counteractive to these mission parameters.
@@KjetilBalstad That maybe so, But putting some LIGHTWEIGHT UHMPE PANELS ON THESE CRAFT WOULD CERTAINLY BE BETTER. THE Israelis had these types of interdiction and insertion CRAFT as well. They used self sealing diesel fuel tanks along the side of the craft that could stop .50 cal rounds.

Didn’t the US Marines do away with their Small Craft units back before or during the second Iraq war? Hope they bring it back but this is definitely Norwegian troops and also US Marines are cutting forces like tanks and mp’s and reducing their artillery while raising their rocket launcher numbers…they say they are getting back to their island hopping roots but it looks to me as if they are gonna be backup air defense for other forces to an extent!!

CB90H, this variant might be hard to get a hold of, but You can get an old CB90e, the 12m, single engined equivalent (performs quite similarly, it’s the medical evacuation and commanders version. The SSRS uses a few for SAR but they are being phased out and sold to the highest bidder.
