I was a HUGE Jurassic Park Fan when I was a kid. And when this scene came up and I told it to my class mates, those who didn't see it including my teacher, they stared at me until my teacher broke the silence by asking: "They tore him in two?" Gotta love teachers.
@Dick Trickle psh barely. He had an obsession with raptors that got him killed. His death was unnecessary & the 1 person he was protecting almost died. Plus he let Samuel Jackson's character go off alone knowing everything's off. So he failed in the movies at least. In the book he was dope.
@@IMadeYouUpsetHuh a few things here. 1. He didn't have an obsession with the raptors, he feared the hell out of them and thought it would've been better if they were disposed of. 2. At the end of the day he did save Ellie. 3. He had no idea that the raptor enclosure was affected by the reboot.
the way sarah looked at the strangers hand. for a fleeting moment, she shed a tear. for she knew that the friend that saved her life, would never be seen again.
That scream was so unnatural. With Rourke, it made sense as his crystallization kind of warped him. For this guy, he may have been in so much agony as he was grabbed in the jaws of this T Rex, but no one can actually scream that way.
KALIMAindia It kinda is but they had to up the stakes in this sequel because the deaths in the first movie were a bit bloodless for the most part given the fact it was able massive rampaging carnivores
Every time I watch this scene, I turn my head away from the screen. I don't mind the other deaths in other JP movies, but this one is just *shudders* the most disturbing for me.
Eddie died because that dumb tree-hugging eco-terrorist had to play hero and bring the Tyrannosaur infant into the camp. Funny thing is, all the horrible carnage could´ve been avoided if it wasn´t for the heroes trashing the InGen camp. The greenpeace dipshit even emptied Roland´s gun, which caused even more people to end up in Rex´s belly. Considering that Ludlow didn´t even originally plan on bringing carnivors to the mainland, it kinda raises the question who are the actual bad guys here?
Oh, God, do I have to deal with this again... IT WASN'T ENVIRONMENTALISM. THEY WERE AGAINST DINOSAURS BEING TAKEN OFF THE ISLAND BECAUSE THEY'S WREAK HAVOC.
Weeellll... if you really want to go all the way back to who actually started the whole situation, it's Ludlow and Roland. If they hadn't decided to try to pillage dinos from the island just to make a buck in the first place, nobody would have even been there. Then NOBODY would have died and the dinos would have been living their lives as usual. Everybody would be happy. Kinda puts the question of who the actual bad guys are right back down.
Personally, I think Julianne Moore's character should've been eaten. One, because I didn't like her, and two, it would've given the movie more emotional depth.
This scene is repeated multiple times as a child, it is simply beautiful how the tension feels, how the music stays with each movement, and how the Trexes devour the guy in two.
Christian Mendez You obviously haven't watched it, Hoskins gets eaten by a raptor and blood splatters on a window, a raptor gets blown up by a launcher, a raptor gets grilled to death, a raptor gets tossed into a wall, many people get thrown, a person gets stepped on, a mosasaurus swallows a woman whole while she gets carried by a pteranodon, a T-Rex almost gets it's head bitten off, and the main antagonist gets dragged underwater by a mosasaurus, most likely torn to bits. JW was the goriest one, but whatever floats your boat.
This man was doing everything he possibly could and then some to save his friends, and he gets ripped apart and is easily forgotten, wish it could have been Sara instead. Seriously its her fault the T-Rex's attacked and she fell from the rope making them lose all progress. dear lord i was really hoping she would fall through the glass
flynikes12 I agree. I hated not only Sarah, but Nick too.He was the one who decided to bring the baby Rex to the RV. He was also too submissive to Sarah, He should've answered the Damn phone! seriously lol. You have LESS than a handful of people who can possibly call the RV, all of which are on an Island that contains viscous murderous carnivores that could be at any corner. You better damn well prioritize to answer that phone! It could save your life.
A violent, great and gritty sequel. Spielberg, Williams, and Kaminski captured the soul of Isla Sorna perfectly. It's exactly as I remember when reading Crichton's novel. Fascinating island.
People are saying that Eddie's death was unfair and unjustified. But I think he had the most hard core death in the whole franchise. All the other people who died were killed pathetically. But here we have two full grown t-rexes trying to eat him. He was also had his foot on the gas the whole time which made him even more heroic.
Eddie was the only guy I felt sorry for. This scene is the best from the entire film. Especially at the end when the hunters find them and help them. Those evil nasty human beings. The music and the shot was really great. When the first time I saw that hand helping Sarah, I really hoped for a moment that that was Eddie's hand. It would have made him even cooler if the T-Rex couple left his upper body behind, allowing him to use the last of strenght and minutes of his life to help his friends. Well Eddie is a hero anyway in my eyes. Ian and Sarah might not give a shit about you, but we do.
Kacumoto .Kacu Meeeeh. Come on. Eddie is more a side character and a red shirt from the start. Stating to love him is exaggerated. If he didn't die this way or didn't die at all no one would even remember him. He is a nice dude and hero. But in the end just some guy
Believe it or not, this was one of the first sequels I remember seeing and I love it to this day. I stand by my opinion when I say that this is one of the best sequels I've seen. Yeah nostalgia could be a factor but scenes like tho make the film unforgettable.
Agree, that it is a great sequel -- better than the first movie, IMHO. What do you mean by "scenes like 'tho' make the film"? What the the hell is "tho"? Making up words or abbreviations? Or is that a typo, when "this" would fit? Regardless, should be followed by a comma, along with the first word of that sentence. Try proper grammar! Go back to grade school!
Randall Hayden Well, not for me. Did you read the novel? There is only one scene from the book that made it into the movie and that was the trailer scene.
Who cares about a novel being different from the film? That's often true. So what? It's nothing that I touched on. Why did you even mention it? I'm guessing that you have ADD, as do I, but way worse -- not focusing & going on irrelevant tangents. Do you have any relevant thoughts to my previous comments on the movie? We (readers) don't care about the novel!
The sad thing about this scene is that even if Eddie had been able to use the gun, he would have only been able to use it on only one of the parents and probably just would have pissed the other one off even more and still eat him.
Jonathan Gonzales Remember it's a dart gun that's loaded with a toxin said to be powerful enough to bring an animal down before it even "feels the prick of the dart"
It really is magnificent. Even after all the heartache and problems Sarah and her crew caused them, they still did the right thing. Made the characters more interesting.
This scene alone is better than anything in World or those sequels.....the "bro nod" between the trex and raptor at the end of the fight in World made me roll my eyes so hard
Bro nod? Have you ever heard of mutual respect between animals and just because animals are carnivores Doesn’t mean they have to fight all the time? how dense are you?
You know the scariest thing to me about Jurassic Park deaths to me? The humans are screaming their heads off, out of sheer terror and then with a quick movement their scilenced. I mean thats just errie to me. The humans are so entitled in a way almost in denile that there about to die and then the dio silences them in such a casual way. Like it meant literally nothing to them. It's humbling in todays day and age. Nature can be boutiful, but also damn merciless. The humans suddenly go from alpha predator to a snack. It's almost insulting to see how easily they dispose of the humans...but also scarry accurate.
I really liked that Eddie's skills as a field equipment expert were seen at the time of his death. He's more heroic than all of the paleontologists and hunters in the movie combined.
Supposedly, Steven Spielberg actually wanted Eddie live, because he grew to love his character a lot. It was the actor that played Eddie, Richard Schiff, that convinced him Eddie needed to die. In order to make it clear that nobody was safe on the island, and that anyone could go at any time.
I get the impression that the T-rex was overpowered as an animal in its own respect lol. That's probably why it had little ass arms: they probably didn't serve a crucial purpose in survival, so evolution was like "*slams hands on desk* ok guys we're gonna have to shrivel up T-rex's arms to give the other guys a chance."
Chris Archie The process of evolution does not give everything involved a chance, "animals are how they are because they need to be in order to remain where they are". It is does not try to balance out the predator-prey arms races. If they do not adapt they die out. If an animal has a new trick that lets it win, then it will go on winning even if doing so will eventually kill it, or everything else. Actually there is some interesting new evidence that infant and sub-adult tyrannosaurids (the entire family not just T.Rex) actually started out with well developed arms and comparatively small skulls but as they matured the arms just developed less as the skull "over-grew". As babies they could and did use their arms, but once they hit "puberty" (for lack of a better word) the skull development went into overdrive, while the arms remained small to counterbalance the huge skull. Their success as predators lay in the bite, and T.Rex took this to the best adapted level giving it one of if not the most powerful bite of any animal on earth. An interesting fact is that most other big theropods that hunted really big prey (like Acrocanthrosaurus which is now believed to have been a specialist sauropod hunter) had a comparatively small skull and moderate bite force. T.Rex apparently evolved to hunt prey smaller than itself although most prey would have been either numerous (hadrosaurs), armored (ankylosaurs), or armed (ceratopians i.e Triceratops), driving the development of a really powerful jaw to remain effective hunters.
Chris Archie They were also very top-heavy. Their tails played a larger role in their balance than scientists previously thought. Because their skulls were one of the heaviest known to ever exist, if they had large arms then they literally just would have toppled nose first lol of course they could have just used this to walk on all fours, but the T-rex wasnt built for that. It didnt need arms to help rip apart prey (cough_spino_cough)because its jaws could do it easier. So that combined with its build and having large arms making it top heavy, nature just felt that little arms were better. This leads the question on why they even had little arms to begin with, why did evolution not just do away with them totally. Well, why do male humans still have nipples? Why do certain fish (gar and carp) still have lungs even tho they primarily use gills? Leftovers...Or, and I find this theory fascinating, I read that T-rex was amidst an evolution change when they went extinct, and they were actually growing arms, not shrinking. Yet we havent found evidence from before that they or their older counterparts had no arms.
The whole bit in the long grass, Dieter getting mauled up close by the compies, Carter getting stepped on and mangled, the sequence in the waterfall, the Rex eating the dog, the Rex feeding Ludlow to the baby and this scene to top it all off, they really stretched the PG-13 rating a good few extra sizes in this movie lol
I know people hate this scene because a good guy/hero gets eaten but I think it’s very well done. Dinosaurs/animals don’t care about your character lol I wish Jurassic world had the guts to kill heros or main characters it makes it more real and intense to watch you don’t know who’s going to live or die.
this scene was really dark and shady.. He was just trying to save his friends for there stupid mistake and ends up paying for it with a horrible painful death! Eddie was brave and smart, poor guy. Like if they wanted to kill him off so bad they should have just made him fall of the cliff while trying to save his friends. At least that wouldn't have been so Dark..
Sean_athankills To be fair, I don't think a T-Rex would really care if your were a good person or not. You're just another meal to them. It just adds another layer of realism to the dinosaurs in these movies, even if it just seems uncalled for when people are killed like this.
I think the "unjustifiable death" comments don't really stem from Eddie being a good guy/competent guy, but rather that the other characters in the group were idiots. Ian Malcolm was the only other one who respected the danger they were in and had a hint of common sense (Because of his experience in the first movie.) A lot of of the other other characters were complete idiots, and not that likable. Sarah- Goes to the island completely alone. Even in general going to a remote island yourself is not that smart. One with large dinos? Idiotic. Nick- Yes, let's let loose a bunch of rampaging dinos inside this camp so all communications get destroyed and lives are lost because THINK OF THE DINOSAURS. The Ingen team were equally stupid for wanting to bring dinosaurs to the mainland, but Nick's actions were dumb. Then he takes a wounded T-Rex baby and moves it to his camp. Yes, they wanted to fix it up but HELLO. Mommy and daddy did not like that. No animal likes it's young being taken, whatever your intentions. A good character being killed off is good for emotional shock and story tension, but it's best done when the other characters are still interesting and not annoying.
Completely agree. Whole movie was plagued by dumb asses. I know she's only a kid, but you left out Malcolm's daughter. A totally unbelievable, idiotic, unnecessary, useless and unwatchable character.
He was. Earlier in the movie he shows Nick a gun which has a dart that kills the animal before it even knows it's dead. But his gun got caught on the netting in the Jeep.
It's easily one of the best moments of the movie when we see Roland and the InGen team help them. Even after the actions of Hammond's team almost got them all killed, they were still able to be persuaded to help the perpetrators. I wonder if Sarah and Nick would have been willing to do the same for them.

@Dick Trickle psh barely. He had an obsession with raptors that got him killed. His death was unnecessary & the 1 person he was protecting almost died. Plus he let Samuel Jackson's character go off alone knowing everything's off. So he failed in the movies at least. In the book he was dope.

Eddie is a legend, instead of running for his life he stepped on that peddle to help his friends! What a guy.
He had no way out anyway
1:02 Eddie's scream was used in Atlantis: The Lost Empire during the final battle when Tiberius Rourke turns into a magma creature.
Glad I'm not the only one to notice this.
That scream was so unnatural. With Rourke, it made sense as his crystallization kind of warped him. For this guy, he may have been in so much agony as he was grabbed in the jaws of this T Rex, but no one can actually scream that way.
That's why I came here to see if it was true.

Respect to Eddie. Such a brave character. Sacrificed to save his friends.
This scene traumatized me as a kid, it was such a horrible way to go.
Have you seen Jurassic World yet? All I'm gonna say is that one character gets it so bad I thought it was a bit too much
I saw it today, did you mean death of the babysitter?
***** Yep
I liked it bc it went against the usual quick death. Did you not feel more dread for the people being attacked? I sure did.
Exactly. Peter Stormare is way cooler than Vince Vaughn in this movie.
Oh, God, do I have to deal with this again... IT WASN'T ENVIRONMENTALISM. THEY WERE AGAINST DINOSAURS BEING TAKEN OFF THE ISLAND BECAUSE THEY'S WREAK HAVOC.
I just watched the trailer for "Earthlings", and I don't see good in either the actions of the InGen camp or that of the greenies.
Weeellll... if you really want to go all the way back to who actually started the whole situation, it's Ludlow and Roland.
This movie was the darkest of the 3
dark indeed,
I know that your comment was 3 years ago but have you seen Jurassic World? That movie was darker than this.
BorrowedAngels Jurassic World was not darker than The Lost World what are you talking about
BorrowedAngels Shit JP3 was darker than JW
You better damn well prioritize to answer that phone! It could save your life.
Actually, it was Nick who found the baby T-Rex in the first place.
flynikes12 In the book it's Eddie who brings it back to the trailer. He gets killed later on by the raptors though.

This is the real world. There are prey. And prey that think there predators

I'm fed up with this world!!!
Chris Archie completely not how it works but i want someone to make a cartoon of this right now :)
^ I agree. I was being half-serious btw lol
Chris Archie they have strong jaws to make up
Chris Archie They were also very top-heavy.
You will always be remembered Eddie...
Seriously, this is easily one of the most gruesome deaths in the series period.
Actually it is THE most gruesome death of this series
Zara in Jurassic World or this one
Dude deserved better. R.I.P. the true homie Eddie ✊🏽
I actually felt sad when Eddie died because of the character development and the determination before he died.
You do see that these days do you.
I agree

What makes falling off a cliff less dark?
Joshua Willis Because this was pure terror. The final seconds before getting eaten by those 2 giant beasts are terrifying.
Sean_athankills To be fair, I don't think a T-Rex would really care if your were a good person or not. You're just another meal to them. It just adds another layer of realism to the dinosaurs in these movies, even if it just seems uncalled for when people are killed like this.

Out of the current 6 films, Eddie's was the best death. And also the saddest

It's easily one of the best moments of the movie when we see Roland and the InGen team help them. Even after the actions of Hammond's team almost got them all killed, they were still able to be persuaded to help the perpetrators. I wonder if Sarah and Nick would have been willing to do the same for them.
