Agree. I sold my copy of Shakespeare a few months ago. I accepted a low offer because I just wanted it to go to a buyer who would appreciate it. I can’t believe people are paying over $100 for it
Definitely prefer the more Mediterranean look of the older version to this ‘Disney’ cartoon one. Now this is out do you think people will be selling the older version a fair bit cheaper?
Glad to see Finca back. It is hard to tell, but the illustrations on the board look like they were done digitally, and looks much different than the cover. I wonder if they just had Vincent Dutrait just do the cover, since he always hand draws his work, and brought in Joan Guardiet to do the rest. I very well could be mistaken, but I also prefer the illustrations on the previous editions. The new cover is fantastic, but I do not really care about covers since I rarely see them once they are on my shelf. Still great it is back again.
Probably. For me, the cover is the best part - would prefer the original for the rest, or maybe if the cover artist followed through for all of it I would go for it.
I had a copy of the original game with those two mini-expansion tiles that are missing in this version. I’m not sure, but I think I got them as promos through BGG at the time. We always played with them. I hope they will let you do a promo of those windmill tiles for your Kickstarter next year. Eventually I sold it because we had other games we played more (i.e. Dominion), and because it was out of print, I was able to get a very good price for it. I am really tempted to bring it back into my collection, especially at such a reasonable price.
I hated the drought expansion. Just made The going of putting back resources happen more often which made the game longer. The wild and el zule expansion were great though
Pandasaurus just messaged me and The mini expansions that I mentioned that were missing from this version will be given as promos to those that pre-order on their site!
@@ThalmorIceTea Well I should state that they aren’t missing from the game. They weren’t originally in the game when it came out in 08. They were added in the 2018 version since it was a Kickstarter stretch goal. They didn’t put it in the base game because it does add more meat than the $30 price point would suggest for a mass market positioning. And you do get them for free.
Probably should have mentioned that all of the wooden goods tokens were almost 3 times as thick in the out of print version for those people that care about things like that and would actually pay more money for a better tactile feel. A similar thing happened with juicy fruits with the new version. I understand they were keeping the cost down so that’s a great thing making it more accessible and for that matter available. But there are people out there like me where silly things like that matter lol!
Yes I don’t think anyone would think when you take a $70 Game and make it a $30 Game that the pieces will be the same :). However I do like the molds of the pieces in this better. They look much more realistic even though they are thinner.
This looks very much like The Red Cathedral in a lot of ways. Or rather, The Red Cathedral looking very much like Finca would be more accurate. Seems cute, but it's a bit light for me.
Really cool game. However, there are two things about it that bother me: 1. tracking the number of symbols your opponents have is a real pain 2. if first player triggers the end of the game, the second player doesn't get to perform his move, i.e. takes one less turn. And this can decide the winner (it did in my game). There are many other designs that have this problem, but it doesn't always bother me. However, In Finca it takes time to prepare your deliveries so the fact that you are robbed of your last action leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I dust have a problem tracking the qtys of certain things since usually you’re focusing on one or two different ones and it’s not that bad to look around for 1 or two fruits. For the ends game, having the last finca setting the last round and playing to equal turns seems like a reasonable house rule.
When you’re trying to take a $70 game and make it a $30 game so more people can enjoy it, some concessions need to be made. Other than the wooden components not being as thick as the original, the molds fit them are better than the old version in my opinion.
Dutrait is one of my favorite artists but the art direction on this new one is garish and jarring. I don't think people new to this game will be put off because of it though. Hard to beat that price point though.
Love when they reprint and tank the market for out of print games that people are asking a king's random for.

Amazing game with a gorgeous face lift! Can't wait to get my hands on a copy.
It should be out mid Sept!
I love Finca, I was 5 minutes in the video and I said, where's the Olives?? Glad you mentionned it, it is a strange but understandable decision.
Ha!

great job, thanks for all that enthusiasm😁👏👏👏
You’re welcome!

That’s what i thought. Vincent for the cover and The other artist for everything else.

Demoed this at GenCon, it was fun! Didn't get to play a full game but I enjoyed it. And it was more interactive than I would have guessed.
Yes the interaction in this game is sneakily strong! Way more than most euro games of 2008!
Thanks for the video review
You’re welcome James!
Been back and forth on this one for years. Maybe I’ll finally get it.
Do it! Such a great classic!
$30 for Finca, insta Buy! I will get it as soon as budget allows, which at that price will be shortly after release.
So Pandasaurus just told me the extra expansions I mentioned in my review that they left it will be available for free with pre orders on their site!
@@TheGameBoyGeeks Do you have a pre-order link that may show Pandasaurus that you sent us? Like an affiliate link of sorts?
@@jamesbrazeal3847 i don’t have an affiliate link and It looks like their pre order link isn’t one yet but check back with their website soon

This is way better than Red Cathedral in my opinion. I didn’t really like that one. I thought it was way overhyped b
What did they replace for the fish? Played the original a few weeks back and i dont recall their being fish
Olive… I discussed this change in depth in the Review and showed pictures as to why they changed it in the final thoughts

So excited for this. However, the link doesn’t offer purchase options, says it’s not available. Thanks

Saw this at gencon. I think the reprint looks like ass. Every change component-wise is a downgrade. Completely dissapointed.
