    Are The Plugholes of Ladybower Reservoir Overflowing already in 2023?
    Join me as i revisit Ladybower Reservoir in the Peak District to see if my prediction of the Ladybower Plugholes overflowing by mid January 2023 was correct or incorrect.
    We also revisit a few locations to see how much difference the high water makes to the surrounding areas compared to when water is very low.
    We also visit Derwent Dam to see the water thundering over the Dam wall.

    I don't know what it is about your videos but I have to admit to sitting almost breathless as I watch them,. The music, those parts of the video which play in silence other than the natural sounds of water flowing, your photography and drone footage - unbelievable. Thank-you again for giving this to us.

    What a journey this series has been for you, thank you for taking us all along with you. Its like a living history lesson. You know this wouldn't look out of place on Nat Geo. I feel sad that those once beautiful villages have gone back to their deep dark place, but happy to see these dams doing what they were built for. I feel exhilarated by the thundering wall of water and the atmospheric music. Well done Ant and thank you.

    Can i just thank you for your excellent video's especially The Ladybower ones. I used to live and work in Bamford around the corner and down the main road where the old Marquis Of Granby Hotel was, i worked there (and lived in) for a short period of time and it's the place I met my first Wife, a lass from down the road in Hathersage. Sadly we divorced after only a few years and i went back to Sheffield to live. Your video's have taken me back in time to those days in 1977, i used to frequent a few of the pubs back then, The Anglers Rest, the ones in Hathersage and we used to walk and enjoy the company of our friends around the reservoir too. Thanks for bringing on back my good times, i was only 18 then, I'm now 64 and live in Skegness with my Wife of 34 years..... So sadly without your videos we'd never be able to go to this lovely part of Derbyshire. Keep up the good work, i have subscribed to your group and i look forward to many more of your jaunts around Ladybower and surrounding areas.... thanks my friend :)

    I find the old gate at 3:21 really interesting, just think of all the people from years that passed by or through the gate --- If we could only hear some of their stories. The water flowing over the top of the dam really shows the power of water and gravity. Great story, great narration and great music.

    That was an amazing video, coupled with your earlier ones as a comparison from empty to full, great job! Those plug holes are scary and look so powerful when overflowing and such a waste of energy and considering the scale of the whole thing a few months ago when the water level was so low it’s an awesome sight to see. Thanks 🙌

    • @Neil070
      @Neil070 Год назад

      Your phrase "waste of energy" reminds me of the hydro power facility inside a Welsh mountain. Imagine if we could harness the power of the water flow down the plughole or over the dam.
      We have the engineering skills, we just need imagination and courage from the government

    • @iancooper2338
      @iancooper2338 Год назад +1

    Another great video Ant Great to see this when the water is at high level and to see the vast contrast from the previous videos!
    My Norfolk Suggestions as you mentioned you will be going back are:
    1. Bengate towards Stalham Disused Railway Line. Honing Station is a must see!
    2. Covehithe Church Ruins and Beach it's stunning there.
    3. Swaffham Disused Line well worth a visit for somewhere in a town it feels incredibly remote and forgotten. There's a few Bridges (one is really remote at the end) and a surviving signal! Access off of the end of Turbine Way, really easy access just off of the A47.
    4. Pingo Trail following part of disused Watton to Thetford line. theres a ruined gatehouse on route and scenery is also stunning (Pingos are ancient ponds) it's also borders the Stanta (Stanford) the military training zone in places. Here there are some abandoned villages the MOD took up during the 40s. I believe you can or could do tours by writing to the MOD but I guess even if you could get on the odds of you being allowed to take any footage is probably very small.
    5. Wolferton Station which you can access at certain times of the day so check their website. Lot of Royal history being closest to Sandringham it's well preservered, looks amazing as is the countryside you might be able to walk some of the line nearby to.
    Thanks for all the continued content. Mark.

It was great in the summer when it wasn't full and I loved watching your exploration of the old village. Marvellous video and commentary - really impressive stuff. Thank you for putting this together for us all to watch. I’m due to visit the reservoir for the first time this year too.

    That was ace. Now I found you I can binge watch the rest. Plenty of reservoirs in Leicestershire were I live. Cropston, Swithland, Blackbrook. Swithland is lovely with a long winding drive to the pump house and steam trains crossing close by in the summer. Used to have huge gardens which appear to be a run down state these days.

    As a Derbyshire lad its great to see Ladybower full again and most of our other dams are pretty much full as well. Nature is an amazing lady.

    Hi there, I stumbled upon your video and it’s fantastic! Wow!! Your filming is incredible!! The music you chose actually brought me to tears😢! Thank you for an enormously well done film. I’m subscribing straight away and will pass it on…you are very talented, the mix of old film and the non speaking parts perfectly timed. I learnt a whole lot, and can’t tell you enough “Thank you, for all your hard work and for your enthusiasm, it really comes across on camera.” 😘 Just BRILLIANT!

    Absolutely loved these vids. I am lucky enough to live in Sheffield and have all these places on my door step. Ladybower, Howden, Dam Flask, Redmires and many more. We up here really do supply the country with our thirst. It is not just their practical features. Their aesthetic beauty is something of a masterpiece of engineering with beauty.
