      Whats the reason for the change? Just curious so I know when I attempt it :)

    • @Blacksheepmeet
      @Blacksheepmeet  4 года назад +1

      Fullhouserocks23 I realized afterward that the fabric strips were way to much fabric width wise for the smaller sizes and not enough fabric width for the large sizes.

      I love this design because you can adjust the neck and the waist to fit quite a bit so it helps accommodate different shapes of dogs so I hope it does help! I know how annoying/ scary it can be when you dog randomly gets off the leash😅🤞🏼

    Hi, if I make this harness for my big dog that's also pretty strong, should I strengthen it a bit more or does it do okay? Also with like the plastic buckle should I worry if it breaks?

    • @miraculouslover9786
      @miraculouslover9786 2 года назад +1

      My dog also pulls and I wanna have more control over her so is it also okay for pulling dogs

    • @Blacksheepmeet
      @Blacksheepmeet  2 года назад

      If anything I would make sure you go over your stitches well to reinforce them. Although, I do know for a fact, harnesses are not going to give you control for a pulling dog because harnesses were made for dogs to pull. People use them in dogs like husky’s when they pull sleds so actually it’s going to help your dog pull more because it lefts them bare down into the ground easier. To help with a pulling dog you will need a slip lead and you want to make sure it sits high on their neck near the head for the best control and so it doesn’t hurt any of the throat.

    • @miraculouslover9786
      @miraculouslover9786 2 года назад

      @@Blacksheepmeet Thanks, I'll reinforce the stitches when I have things to make them, and yes I know harnesses make a dog pull even more. Thanks for your answer!

    Can this harness be used for a mini pig also

    • @Blacksheepmeet
      @Blacksheepmeet  3 года назад +1

      I haven’t personally put any harnesses on a mini pig so with that being said, they are so similar with small dogs and this pattern is so customizable with sizing that I don’t see why not. Should still fit perfectly If measurements are accurate.

    How do I know how wide to cut the fabric if I’m using 1 inch hardware?

    • @Blacksheepmeet
      @Blacksheepmeet  4 года назад

      You can follow the chart in the beginning of the video for the size to cut fabric strips for 1”width straps or medium size. Hardware and finished strap widths will be the same size no matter what.

    • @Blacksheepmeet
      @Blacksheepmeet  4 года назад

      Sorry, just realized I did update these measurements. I have it pinned in the top comments and description. The size your doing hasn't changed but this in just in case for future reference.

    • @Blacksheepmeet
      @Blacksheepmeet  4 года назад

      @@stellarawakening9734 Following the pattern from the measurements adding .75" each size , I assume it would be 6.75 width strips. You would need 2 inch wide cotton webbing as well.

  • @morganmccallum6067

    I am just attempting this for the first time and I am confused why are are adding on inches? If we measure, yes we times bu 2 for the other side but why are we adding more on again? Is it because it’s adjustable or?

    • @Blacksheepmeet
      @Blacksheepmeet  3 года назад

      I’m not totally sure what part you mean but each measurement is only calculated once. Once you have calculated your measurements, you aren’t adding more to it again later. You should have lengths for 4 different straps (collar, top connecting strap, bottom connecting strap and belly strap.)

    I've been looking for a tutorial since its hard to find the correct size for my dog. thank you. Instead of doing material can I just use the webbing to create this harness?

    • @Blacksheepmeet
      @Blacksheepmeet  5 лет назад

      Exactly! Dogs are just like people and come in all shapes and sizes yet they only make 3-5 generic sizes. 🤷🏼‍♀️ you can definitely just make it without the fabric, that’s a really great idea too. The webbing is also made in different colors too so you can still personalize it. My only concern would be the edges after cutting. I’m not sure what would work exactly but you can just play around with a scrap piece to see what works best.

    Thank you for replying to my last comment, also had another question. How do you pre-wash? Is there any specific way you do this? Thank you

    • @Blacksheepmeet
      @Blacksheepmeet  5 лет назад

      No problem, I’m happy to help when I can!! Pretty much you just want to wash the fabric the way you would normally wash whatever your making when it’s done. I usually do just a basic light wash with a little detergent. (Assuming it’s not a fabric that you normally wouldn’t put in the washer and may need to be dry cleaned, then you don’t have to do that step.) cottons and knits are good to do especially since they shrink and to help get extra dye out of the fabric. Make sure to wash it alone or with like colors!! I’ve learned the hard way and lost fabric cause the darker fabric stained my lighter ones. Think red sock in your whites 😂

    • @madusonkeeper
      @madusonkeeper 11 месяцев назад

      You can also just boil the fabric and webbing. It is what we used to do in the 70s will definitely do the job.

    What size or kind of needle did u use? 🥺

    • @Blacksheepmeet
      @Blacksheepmeet  4 года назад

      Hello! I actually used my basic universal needle, but a brand new one so it was sharp. I did have to sew super slowly though, but it was possible. I would recommend using a needle for thicker fabrics though like for jeans or leather, I just didn’t have any on hand at the time. 😊
