Hi Jan!! Thanks for joining our #sailawaycrew!! We cruise in 19 days, so we'll have new vlogs out soon. Until then, we try to fill in with edutainment and our LIVEs every Sunday at 4 pm where we share cruise news and do Q&A. Thanks again for watching!
The bidding worked for me and it only took a few days. Maybe a bit too soon as my credit card is charged I didnt set my bid for the lowest but it was in the lower range for some of the upgrades. I am wondering if they base bids on how much you've spent on all the prepurchases too.
My understanding from people in the know is it’s completely random, or potentially based on simply the highest bid. They are a for-profit company, after all. I have also read that it’s run by a third-party contractor, not RCI itself. Bottom line, bid as high as your budget allows, because there are no known hacks. Glad it worked for you!!!
Hey! Thanks for all the information! My husband and I are traveling our first RC cruise in May so we are new to the Royal Up program. Something I don’t understand is the cost. How much do people usually bid? So essentially, we would be paying for our original room PLUS whatever we bid for an upgrade (if it gets accepted)? Do we get to reject the room if we decide we want to stick with our original? Thanks for your help!
The bid is totally up to your budget and the gamble (lol) you're willing to take. Don't forget to check how much an upgrade outright will cost you. It might be less than the bid you're making. You can NOT reject the new cabin if you win the bid... so bid carefully if you have a cabin and location you really love! Thanks for watching.
@@ashleybertich2342 we have not ever received a free upgrade, and with how they are overfilling ships now, I can’t imagine it happening now, unless someone’s cabin had a serious problem (ie, flooding toilets broken shower). We’ve never purchased the key simply because of our needs and/or the ship we were on. It’s not very beneficial on smaller ships because the lines aren’t as long. You can always purchase now, and if the price drops later, you can cancel and re-purchase at the lower price! That’s true for any cruise planner purchase.
If you are upgraded on the day but already had tags with a room number on aren’t you bags taken before you reach the terminal & potentially find out if you’re upgraded? Meaning that your bags might have disappeared off to the original cabin number assigned?
Theoretically, it could happen. However, disappeared is probably the wrong word. 😉Head to guest services on board and share the issue. The crew will locate the bags and get them to your new cabin! 👍🏼
I got a email the week of saying I was still in consideration. I’m hoping I win there’s no current rooms so I’m hoping i have a chance if someone doesn’t come
Not necessarily, but probably. Now that we’re back to 100% capacity, there is a lot of competition, and it’s unlikely you would win a bid if it’s considered “weak”.

Cruising to Cozumel soon?! Check out this video to help you navigate the port and decide on an excursion! ruclips.net/video/Z4OE_29w_V8/видео.html
Great video! I like that you mentioned you may end up also paying higher gratuities. Other places often don’t mention this extra expense.
Thanks so much!
Hello from Georgia! New subscribers. Glad I found your channel. My husband and I are cruisers. And I love to watch cruise content.

Great video! We have Royal Up bids on our Independence of the Seas cruise and excited to see if we win!
Thank you. I received an offer from RC.

Two more questions: 1) Have you ever received a FREE upgrade? 2) What’s the lowest you’ve paid for The Key and when did you purchase it?

And you can only view your upgrade options 30 days before sailing

That's how it works, Alan! Good luck on that upgrade.
If your bidding says weak, does that mean you won't be upgraded? Anyone with experience doing this.

Where does it say weak or strong? I guess that was an old thing.
@TripBloggers on a computer, when the user would put a bid in, it would show up on a gauge as a week or strong bid. They may have changed that.👍🏼

weird, it's charging me for all 4.
You can only win one of your bids. If you win, you’ll then be charged.
