She is the ultimate comedic actor! Absolute self-humiliation without sacrificing even a shred of dignity. Joan Rivers was wrong, beautiful people can be clever AND funny. Joanna also oozes loving kindness and warmth in interviews and documentaries too.... like yes, she is a classy, posh lady but so polite and not at all pretentious. Ugh. She is so beloved 😆
Virginia Fry. she was fantastic. Loved her in the early radio show (take it from here) The glums the way she would say. Oh Ron. Puts a big Smile on my face now just thinking about it. A lady that had so much talent. . 🇬🇧 30/9/20
One of the reasons the show itself is so funny is that it's ALWAYS walking the tightrope above everyone losing it. I think the performers keep each other in that crazy, dangerous place just an inch shy of chaos.
Bubble always had her moments and kept me in stitches. The whole cast is on one terrific level of comedy and then Bubble comes in and takes it all to a whole new level. Brilliant all the way around. What I would give to have been in that audience.
lekkki1 right Jen is so intelligent and talented I wish she would do something now I also love Viv Vyle which did not last long but the writing was so Jen but I think she is pigeon holed into comedic sitcoms that are held to the Ab Fab standard shame really she also did Jam and Jerusalem that did not last either it stopped airing in 2009 which was when she got her breast cancer diagnosis. I love these out takes where we see how much fun they have I think Jen sets the tone for everybody just love and adore her!
This clip is them making mistakes, and they are just as brilliantly funny. I guess this comes naturally to them, lekkki1. It looks as if they had a lot of fun making this show.
I'm so glad they had this show! Watching these two Geniuses and laughing so hard I was in tears... got me through one of the roughest times of my life (My Mother and best friend died within a few months of each other)... I couldn't have done it without them! Their "laughter therapy" helped so much!
Sorry for your losses and glad you had the laughter to get through it. I lost my uncle during this I remember he and I in tears watching this together because we were laughing so hard. That's why I say bravo to all those women for making us laugh. 2 years ago I went to see the ab fab movie that was hysterical as well.
Ms Saunders is a true gem. I have only seen "bits and pieces" of Ab Fab over the years, but she truly was the fuse that ignited this duo. Not to take too much away from Ms Lumley. But when the outtakes are as hilarious as what really makes it to the small screen.....
I feel so badly for Julia during the "trim and tight" section, because she's summoning up the emotion to burst into real tears in that scene and every time she's willing herself to that point they fuck it up again and she has to dial it back. Bless her heart.

I really enjoyed this series but the outtakes are even better because they show the actors' real (and wonderful) personalities and those of their characters - in the same take.
It's amazing how actors do what they do. It's so fascinating how Joanna is the nicest, funniest and sweetest person in real life but could seem so aggressive, terse, and "mannish" as Patsy!
Watching these bloopers makes me wonder how they ever got through one show. These bloopers are absolutely hilarious! Poor Julia always trying her hardest to stay in character. Joanna is priceless. I love when a sexy woman curses! LOL

Seems kinda bittersweet like it adds to the stress factor and remembering lines but I think it added to the comedic atmosphere which helped the actors. Julia said the audience was like a cast member in a way.
I have just laughed myself breathless at this! It took minutes of thinking serious thoughts just to regain my composure. Definitely watching this again when I'm in need of a good, side-splitting laugh :-)
Saffy deserved more. The fact that they made it out that she was OK with the multiple wives thing will always piss me off. She deserved a better life than what her mother offered, but the plot only seemed to plunge her deeper and deeper. Never liked how it turned out, but seeing her again after all these years really made me smile. She's absolutely brilliant.

The only time you will hear Julia Sawalha (Saffy) laugh in this entire series is in the outtakes and it's infectious.
I love seeing Julia break character- she's so good at playing it straight all the time- the laughs are so cute/human.
