L-lysine works wonders. I also use an essential oil blend I made up. Just make sure you buy pure essential oils. I added equal amounts of peppermint, lemongrass, and tea tree (melaleuca), and dilute it with an oil, such as, almond, grapeseed, MCT, etc... It works great. At the first swelling and tingle...gently massage with rubbing alcohol.
After that instantly generously cover with WHITE toothpaste.
Not green or blue.

Acyclovir three times a day for six months. After that just take when needed. I suffered for years . Now I rarely get one and if I do it's very small and goes away quick.
Acyclovir is great at both treatment and prevention but it is a prescription and not everyone has health insurance and therefore can't get a prescription for it.

Hey, can u help me remove this? (I don't think it's a cold sore) A few weeks ago, i got a blister on the right corner of my lip. I went to a medical store and they gave me "smyle mouth ulcer gel" now, the blister has gone, and I have a huge black spot there, it hasn't gone and it's been a week. What is that and how can I remove it? Also my lips have become black on the edges because of the sun. I will buy an spf lip balm but will it heal or just protect it from further darkening?

I keep forgetting the ice thing. I did remember it one time and the cold sore did slow down.
Now when I was younger I did the opposite. I got a cold sore after getting a chill and so I thought that I better “warm it up” and warmed up a spoon and placed it hot over my lip. It was one of the two worst outbreaks I had in my life! Had them since I was a child. The second big one was after a big move. It was awful.
