Cameras. Previously if you hadn’t encountered police you didn’t believe the stories you heard. You assumed it was criminals lying. Nobody in the public wanted to know . Now it’s right in front of their eyes.
I believed because when I was young I went to them to report a cop was beating his girlfriend, I saw the bruises and the black eyes and everyone knew he was selling drugs he took from dealers. They told me to mind my own business. It went on for decades she couldn’t flee because he’d use police to track her and bring her back. Finally confined to a desk because he was addicted to the drugs he stole. Never fired. Nobody wanted to know.
All the officers, chief, and DA should be in jail! Have their credentials revoked, and be banned from all forms of government employment for life!

In my state if the cop is even wearing a body cam, you can't get the footage released. The Freedom of Access Act allows for requesting public records, but there are more than 300 exceptions to public disclosure. This almost happened to me on Tuesday. The cop pulled me over for no tag in the front. I work at an auction and transport cars to the Carlot and we use transit tags which is only one plate. When I tried to explain to him he told me to shut up I don’t know my rights. Still gave me the ticket with the plate in his hand. Tuesday I go to court for it.

They don't need a warrant, but they do need Probable Cause. If it's a PC search, they can search everything, if it's a Terry search, they can only search for locations accessible for the driver that could contain a weapon. Can't open the trunk, because the driver can't reach it. Can't open a wallet on the front seat because there's no way to hide a gun in a wallet.

$250,000??? It should be $250,000,000. There needs to be a precedent of large awards against these tyrannical enforcers; which will hopefully snowball to other municipalities and other lawsuits so that changes will be made. Even for Laurel, MS, $250K is easily absorbed. These awards needs to be so high that municipalities would need to consider cuts to employees and services which would mean an outcry from citizens. Furthermore, insurance companies would see them as uninsurable until changes are made. Institute of Justice please take the smaller cases as well as the larger ones.
Not a single law enforcement officer, in the video, should be free from prison for blatant violation of civil rights, multiple Constitutional Amendments, and criminal fraud/kidnapping, deprivation of basic rights, & lying on official reports.

$250K is not enough for the city to change policy regarding the police department. This is a cost of doing business for the city.

How is it that when a judge finds the charges are invalid and unconstitutional and throws them out, why do the officers not get immediately charged with false police reports and whatever else? They should be immediately ripped of their position and never be allowed to police again unless they pass an extremely vigorous knowledge based test of the constitution and law.
Not only that but they're lying On official police documents (which they have to swear to) when they bring charges. But they're also lying on the stand, Which is perjury AND it's CLEARLY a Brady list issue. Or at least it should be. How could they ever be trusted to testify under oath if they've already lied on the stand?
The prosecutor should be named as well. They either failed to review the video evidence or chose to push forward with a case that was clearly invalid. Until these complicit prosecutors and judges start facing repercussions, nothing will change.

These cops are so annoying. My husband was arrested for DWI when the cop did the field sobriety test and tipped over. I told my husband next time record that and refuse a field sobriety. I hate the cops here in Nixa, MO.

Cop asking for the keys demonstrated a consciousness of guilt when he lied about the "wrecker" coming for the car as opposed to the illegal search.

This kind of egregious behavior these cops displayed, is all about ego. They're looking for a reaction! They WANT to see someone upset, they want to tow someone's car, and they WANT ruin their day.
SO---- The more you laugh and smile, and show cops that none of this is bothersome, the more they HATE IT!
