i just got one for Christmas and mine has a warming tray opposite the grease tray that runs the length of the back side. Gonna try it out in the morning for breakfast. 👍🏻
Hello Becky: Thank you for doing this video! Cooking up a big weekend breakfast immediately took me back to my youth, when our Mom would cook the family's breakfast, especially on Sunday mornings, and so it was fun to reminisce while watching you cook. I, too, have an electric griddle. It's a smaller version, a Christmas gift from a sister. While I enjoy it, I primarily use it when making my traditional New Year's Eggs Benedict breakfast. An electric griddle is ideal for toasting the English muffins while frying the Canadian bacon, as the eggs gently poach to perfection. And to answer your curiosity why the cord is so short, it's likely due to two reasons. Most modern kitchens will tend to have GFI (ground fault interrupt) outlets next to the counter top, and so a longer cord would only clutter things up. Secondly, because of the amount of current an electric griddle consumes (yours is 1500 watts at full blast, which at 110 volts is almost 14 amps and approaching the 20 amp limit your standard 12-gauge kitchen wiring is rated for -- exceed that and you'll pop your circuit breaker), the longer the cord the heavier the gauge of wire it must be in order not to heat up and possibly become a fire hazard. So, those are likely the two reasons heavy current items like hair driers and electric griddles have shorter cords.
You’re killin me with the bacon tasting!! I could smel it from here! I’m so hungry now, even being super full. I will always be hungry for bacon. I can’t have nitrates, but look forward to the future when I own a hog and make my own bacon without the nitrates. Delicious breakfast Becky.
I use my Presto electric griddle on the weekends! I take it out to my back patio and cook bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and flour tortillas for those who want breakfast burritos. I love the fact that I can cook outdoors with it and don't have to clean bacon grease from all over my stove top😁
Thanks for the tutorial. Love the bowl of huge lemons. I live in Texas. They say everything is bigger in Texas but Tx lemons have nothing over those huge Florida lemons. lol
Had a passel o'kids.... my mother gave me her large griddle and I used it for 25 more years until it finally died. That thing had lasted about 50 years. I cooked EVERYTHING on that thing. It was wonderful. It wasn't coated. Grilled cheese sandwiches are perfect on the griddle.
Hi Becky, You make my Sundays so much better, I look forward to seeing you and all your creators. I call you "mom Becky" when I'm telling my kids n friends about you and your video's, I just love you!
I know I’m like 10+years to late but I guess the student was ready to meet the teacher!! I’m so happy to have been led to your channel you are such an inspiration and I’m looking forward to my own homestead!!😀 Your great Becky😊❤️
Used to have one of those, but it was given away in the move to AZ. THAT was a bad idea. I've missed it, especially watching you using it! Love your life!
I know you said you wouldn't cook hamburgers on yours, but I do! You should try it! Just keep it on low and keep flipping. I love how when you add cheese, it melts slow and doesn't burn. Turns into a cheesy masterpiece. Good for a nice cheat day!
Looks awesome but I don't like the exotic coating they have these days. Teflon is toxic and who knows what this stiff will do to us over the years. Do they make a cast iron griddle?
Lodge does. I own one and love it! Please note, however, that you have to provide your own heating source. Typically this is the top of your stove, or if camping, a bed of coals. shop.lodgemfg.com/griddles-and-grill-pans/pro-grid-iron-reversible-grill-griddle.asp
I wish I could order this from amazon but they don’t deliver this where I live. Guess I’ll be making a trip to Kmart. It’s the closest place I have for kitchen supplies.
The main reason appliances like these come with short cords is because long, low quality cords have a voltage drop and start a fire if it draws too much current. These griddles might trip a breaker, or worse, burn your house down.
Hey Becky you are the number one site I go to to learn homesteading. At the present I'm obese and doing what I need to loose the weight in also learning and wanna grow some container garden things on my deck. And yard. How do you know when and what to plant situation? Do you use the almanac? Or just looked up websites?
That is really one nice electric grill Becky. Wow, did you make me hungry lol. Was it really cheaper at Amazon with the free shipping at WalMart? This would make one nice gift for someone. I will check it out. Thanks for the video. I just checked, and it is Free shipping at Amazon also. $28,77 is cheap for a 22 inch skill. Take care.
looks like a great griddle. I don't blame the company for having the shorter cord; it's because idiot people get lawsuit happy and then get gobs of money. Lawyers and judges should throw out cases like this, but they get money too. =/
+Suni B Lot's of state parks have electric and water at each site. It's one plug outlet and a water spigot. Just bring a little light weight table and your all set.
Hello Becky: For camping, you may also want to purchase a "power inverter." These convert your car's 12VDC battery power to 110VAC. For this much current, DON'T use the cigarette lighter! Instead, connect it to your car battery like you would a pair of jumper cables. Attached is an Amazon link to a 2000-watt inverter, which is powerful enough to run your 1500-watt griddle. (I would also be running the engine while cooking breakfast, so that you don't inadvertently discharge your battery so completely that it no longer has enough power to start your car!) www.amazon.com/BESTEK-2000W-Power-Inverter-Outlets/dp/B00T93K9KU/?ie=UTF8&qid=1498400837&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=inverter&psc=1
The game "they" play is actually being played on them. Yeah, if someone's going to sue you for their incompetence because they tripped over a long cord, you have two choices... get sued until you go out of business, or make a short cord and force people to be responsible for their own mistakes. It's not a game played by some big evil monolithic corporation, but a game played by thousands of individuals looking to make a quick buck via a lawsuit.
l am houaria from algeria how are you ,lhave many questions about saop please give me the composition with grames and can lput another thing in without essentiel oil tank you l like your activities

I love them for doing grilled cheese sandwiches...when you have to make for a few people it's easy to do all at once!
I will definitely try that!!
