    Devastator was always nice to see. This is the Decepticon version. I always had them in my memory as an Autobot... Am I totally wrong with that ?
    Furthermore; maybe you know this. I once saw a huge Autobot in a small toy-store which was in his disguise form a building crane. And once flipped to robot-mode it would be just as huge, if not bigger, then this one... Do you know the name of that bot ? And is there a newer version from it ?

    Devastator is so big that he cant be contained by conventional Optibotimus displays.
    I'm in the minority, but if I get him, I will display Mixmaster's vehicle mode back as the front. IMO with the smokestacks and the "toes", it looks cooler to me. Anyone else feel that way?
    I find it funny that Scavenger, the most insecure of the Constructicons has the best figure IMO.

    Great review Optibotimus.
    Man devastator looks awesome but im sad that Hasbro went and cut corners with it in some areas instead of blowing out of the park. but what annoys me a bit more is that randomly they decided to make Devastator the biggest of the group of combiners yet everyone will just be taller than a leader class figure which means i will not be able to make Bruticus vs Devastator in reference to one of the G1 episodes. But my real question is will Hasbro do titan class Omega Supreme to go with this guy or will he remain forever alone with no one to rival him?
    I might skip the Hasbro version and go for the Takara version for the improvements that its offering or maybe ill skip them entirely. Its a nice looking figure, but with no proper place to go with its CW set as well there is no figure to rival him it makes him an off one to place and i really doubt either Hasbro or Takara will do a Titan class Omega Supreme to go with this guy.

  • @OldDirtyCollector
    @OldDirtyCollector 5 лет назад +2

    while this is a redesign for mixmaster. Some Concrete mixer trucks do unload from the front. I would know, I used to drive one. So he’s technically NOT backward by this design. It’s just happens to be a new design. Speaking on the set though... I don’t think this is really worth the super high price he goes for. Sure you get a bunch of voyager figures that turn into a titan sized figure, but, they are super limited. Separately they aren’t all that appealing. So you just have to keep him in his combined mode. Still a cool design though. Great review! Very detailed!

  • @RCCrawlerz209
    @RCCrawlerz209 9 лет назад +9

    1. I actually watched the full hour!!! Lol & Nothing's wrong with having a long review Paul, unlike some people that criticize you over that, which I won't criticize you for, so...keep at it Paul! :)
    2. As far as I know (I hate to be a G1-er here...), but I remember with the toys (not the show) that Devastator was just as tall as Menasor, Defensor, & Superion, if any of the combiners that were the tallest, it was Predaking, & that's how I remember it back in the G1 toy line...wish they could've done that & make Predaking the tallest instead of Devastator, which should've been 6 deluxes, which wouldn't of bothered me...ugh....oh well...
    3. Awesome figure to review Paul, anyways, I've been thinking about getting the figure, but seeing more & more reviews from Titan Devastator makes me want it more & more! Lol Maybe I'll get him soon this year since back in the 90s when I was a kid, never did complete nor did I really combine Devastator because I broke the pieces off from that figure, which was a real bummer...:/
    4. Gotta admit though, in every individual alt mode, it honest does work with the other Combiner Wars figures.
    I'm surprised though on leader of the team, whereas his legs kinda transform like the aerialbots do, which really stunned me & surprised me. o.o Which I kinda liked how that worked.
    5. As for Takara's version, I know they fixed the bots & gave them elbows, which I appreciate, who knows when they'll release theirs...but I can go with Hasbro's & probably wouldn't bother me at all, regardless if he doesn't have elbows, #heckit, even the G1 versions didn't have elbows, which is actually fine with me, in all honesty.
    All in all, great hour long review of Combiner Wars Titan Class Devastator Paul, really enjoyed the video, was really informative, inspires me to pick one up when I get the money, perhaps after I get a PS4. Haha
    Keep up the good work on your reviews my good sir! ;)

    They went with a realistic, modern day design that's commonly used for cement trucks (it has to do with efficiency and ease of use for one man operations or something), so that's why the position of the barrel is different.

    one thing i notice is that the combiner wars series seems to be a little less complex and use less quality plastic than someother say, G1 toys. i'm no expert, but i'd say it's because of the engineering of the combiner port.

  • @AzikiraFoxclaw
    @AzikiraFoxclaw 9 лет назад +1

    Honestly, Scrapper is the only Constructicon I like, and while it would be cool to have such a massive figure I could never justify the price. The Perfect Effects add on kit PC-07 will add some pretty decent arm/elbow replacements and have G1 guns too so you don't have to get the Takara version for some added poseability.

  • @Blitzjoans
    @Blitzjoans 9 лет назад +1

    Scrapper doesnt need more stability, Hercules and Giant are very stable with elbow joints...
    Just for saving money, but the look of all of them is great, Hasbro really did a good job with the cartoon/toy accuracy of the G1 Devs

    • @ltranc
      @ltranc 9 лет назад

      Scrapper's arms don't bend in to form the heels.
      They stand straight, having only a straight, slightly thin(compared to the combiner) for a heel.
      Herc has a friggin block.
      Devy has this arm thing.

  • @skullheart3939
    @skullheart3939 9 лет назад +1

    This is why I'm sticking with the smaller combiners. Yeah, they don't look exactly G1, but that's what makes them great. That and smaller figures usually have more care put into them when it comes to marketing. Bigger toys have fewer joints and articulation. That's true for any line of toys.
    Yeah, the smaller lines has a bunch of remolds, but so far those remolds have been really well done. Cyclonus, Motormaster, and soon Prowl, Swindle, and Hound.

    • @eldruggedmonkey
      @eldruggedmonkey 9 лет назад

      +Skullheart still not a fan of the choice of car they are using for Smokescreen...yes he is a brother to Prowl...but Smokescreen wasn't a cop car and they are still using the Streetwise/Prowl mold instead of the original Dead End/Brake-Neck mold. atleast for the roof section...they could still use the rest of the figure just revert it back to the original mold for the roof to get rid of the light bar...i am sure if they did a Bluestreak figure they would still use the Prowl mold also due to them being brothers (or atleast the fact they used the same figures for G1...and most toylines).

    • @skullheart3939
      @skullheart3939 9 лет назад

      ***** Actually did. Watched the entire video as well as others reviews on it. Tell me how I'm wrong by stating that the Devastator set, the single figures, have more articulation than the deluxes released in the Combiner Wars so far.

I agree the individual figures are lacking in some respects but the whole reason for the set Devastator is amazing. This is the update I've wanted for years. As a G1 fan I am thoroughly satisfied. I may splurge and also get the Takara version but if I don't I'm very happy with what Hasbro did. AWESOME detailed review! You get this figure for Devastator. The issues you brought up with each robot have to do with the price point Hasbro had to get it to for the U.S. release. As we know, Japan has more of a collector's market so they are not as limited but again for the price we get an AMAZING Transformer! The big question is how does Devastator scale next to MP Grimlock and Fanstoys Scoria? Can we finally recreate the attack on Autobot City from Transformers the Animated Movie? If so, to me, that is worth the price alone. Thanks again for this great review!

    Thanks for the fantastic review! It sounds like people are waiting for Takara, or comparing this to Hercules, but for the price point, I do think they did a great job. I'd love to have something like Hercules. As a single dad with two kids though who can't justify spending the money for that, Hasbro's Devastator really just made the kid in me who could only look at the G1 box in the store and dream very happy. Ah, my poor co-workers... they get to watch the transformer collection on my desk grow just a bit more on Monday :D

    Assuming I don't get enough for a PS4, I may pick up Devastator over the holidays if I can get my hands on him. Looks pretty good... the only issue will be where to put him once I've got him combined :P

    I noticed that scavenger is a forward transformer and not a backwards transformer like the original him and his toy.

  • @TheArfdog
    @TheArfdog 7 лет назад +1

    Those that think Mixmaster is backwards, don't know modern concrete mixers. The barrel slopes front to back because concrete gets poured out the back. It was a redesign from older concrete mixers.

      Actually, Mixmaster here is a Front-Discharge mixer.The concrete is poured out the front because it is easier to drive up to a construction site that way.

    I think that being that Superion is a robot totally formed by jet planes on the helicopter they should have equaled in size as Devastator especially being that the main body was a Concorde passenger plane but then again I'm a scale nut

    Botimus, the reason behind it is that Scrapper's elbows would be really delicate, and if a kid smashed one, the arms cannot work as heelspurs and it isn't like you can replace anything in the set easily, given the price. Takara can put elbows in as their main market are adult collectors, and won't be smushing about Scrapper's elbows in the way only a kid can. Make sense?

    Mixmaster is not backwards there basing it on a MODERN cement hauler/pumper where as the g1 is based on a late 70's model cement mixer, there based on 2 totally different vehicles.

    Devastator SHOULD be the most tallest, but not THAT tall! Maybe a head taller then the other combiners would serve Devastator well, also the most badass combiner goes to Bruticus :3 but that's personal preference.

    Quick question but how does cw devastator compare with Hercules or cw menasor (with motor masters fixes) and cw defensor?
    Also what does everyone think about wave 4 being the optimus maximus wave even though the figures are repaints and head retools of the stunticons?
    Great review optibotimus can't can't wait for more!

    As I like this version of Devastator, I would like to have SDCC GCW Devastator. I even kinda have perfect display place to it. But alas, it would take lion's half of my house budget. Say, did you sold your TFC Hercules? I was expecting comparisons between that and GCW Devastator. Personal view: GCW Long Haul is Constructicon Juggernaut X3.

    awesome review as always Paul. but after watching your review, I have decided to stay with my TFC Hercules as my definitive Devastator. Somehow I feel, TFC Combiners like Hercules, Ares and Prometheus compliment Hasbro's Combiner Wars figures perfectly. This Devastator is HUGE, not doubt about that, but he looks too toyish to me.

    hey there was wondering about something dealing with the size of this figure set. i was wondering was the scale between Devistator and other combiner teams this big of a difference? was he actually this massive compared to the others? or was this one actually supposed to be scaled more for MP purposes but released as a CW character due to the fact that that is the most recent toyline and he is a combiner?

    I think they were thinking about kids in all honesty when they designed Scrappers elbows. Takara Don't really have to worry about that as they do cater to the fans, as that is the majority of their sales, Not so much for Hasbro.
    Its the same for a few of them, If Takara could do it, so can Hasbro, they just have to have young kids in mind, and lets be fair, all of Devastators weight is being put onto Scrappers arms. Mixmaster doesn't have to worry to much as he has a nice flat foot, Scrapper? Not so much, only 3 points hold Devy up on his Right leg , The arms and the Scoop of Scrapper. It wouldn't take much for a kid to snap them off while playing with this guy if he had Elbows, they would brake easily at the joints, but as one solid piece it's a lot safer.
    Its a bummer sure, but i can see why they did it, and lets face it a 3rd party company is going to come along and give us new arms for a lot for these guys at some point xD
