Have you tried 12’s on this guitar? I think most reviews I’ve seen have had 12’a on them. This one with 13’s feels like it adds a nice roundness to the bass which I like.
Yes, in fact it had 12’s as stock. I have another video comparing three Slope Shoulder acoustics (Epiphone Slash, Sigma All solid and this). Thats how it sounded with 12’s. I changed to 13’s the minute I got home and I like it this guitar better with 13’s however, I think it’s a bit too much as I’m losing headroom if I strum hard. I know that sound when it’s no longer sounding like wood, but more like strings and plinky sound.
Hi ! By any chance, if you still own this guitar : could you please measure the low E to high E string spacing, both at the saddle and the nut? It would be great info for us fingerpickers who love that sound :) Thanks
Yes. i still have it. Its a very nice guitar for the cash - besides, I’m not mainly an acoustic player in my band, so this does the job nicely for the acoustic gigs I have, which doesnt require me to get a 5000 dollar J-45. Lol. If you can give me a day or two, I can give you this info.
@@BardOfTheSixString thanks a lot! Yes it sounds so great!! But as I'll order online having these measure will certify I'm making a good fingerpicking guitar choice. No problem take your time (as long as it's not so long that you forget about it :)
Hey, I think I like to the point that I bought 3 more sets.. the Monels sound great.. although I'm finding it a bit too metallic when it's new.. a fair bit of time with the strings on, settled and warmed up, its great.. I can hit the acoustic tones I have in my head.. I'm still experimenting though, but after I finish off the 3 sets I bought.. LOL
@@BardOfTheSixString h Thanks for sharing....I will try them on mine as well. I am with you I don't like metallic sound...warm and woody tone is the best!
@@kentlawson9182 All good.. maybe I just got used to the sound of the Monels when its fully broken in. so when newly strung, I instantly heard the new-ness of the strings.. put it on, play it regulary and wait for a week or so and it will mellow down and sound amazing. it certainly amplifies the Sigman JM-SG45's woody, dry sound that a real vintage Gibson J-45 has.
