So like in civ putting people in right slots is necessary to win ? In situation when you have many cities you change it after every new constuction , research etc. It can be stressful to know when and where put them all the time. I read that production, science and food overproduction add to next project so it not big problem if you don't change them.
    Now litle begginer question.
Only difference between in your military between ages is only weapons and armor you discover or they really change and get better stats.I can beat minor faction units but when it comes to other players they are better at everything. It's hard to tech up quickly enough when AI is far ahead in tech and it may kill heroes without any problems.
I see often people sugesting food as best choice because it gives new people and district can benefit more. But how you see it. How long it shoould take to make newcitizen and at what point it ceases to be worthwhile to focus on them. I see AI to have massive district expansion

+TerrusIce hey! I would not say necessary to win, you can automate it in the game or leave it a bit where you like. But I really like to micromanage in the early game.
Indeed science food and prod are buffered to the next one.
To answer your questions, if you reach a new era, your new units will get extra levels when built (era 4 = unit level 4 when recruited) and of course better gear.
I think food is important but important to importantes really depending on the faction. Wild walkers have good production so food is a good focus for them. AI goes crazy sometimes but I don't think they have specialised cities, so it's not always efficient.
      Hope that helps!

So better specialize every city in one thing or balancing them all. I see that produtcion is more important because you should always have someting to build and science benefit after you build it. Or it should be other way around as every new research last longer and in mid game you can produce faster.
When I can build someting in same lenght that I can produce enouch dust to buy it , it mean it have low or high production and it worth to buy it.

+TerrusIce I usually make sure I pick production city early game. By mid game, you can buyout the era 1 buildings so production from nearby terrain is less important, better find a sweet spot with a lot of science or dust tiles and some room to expand.
Buying out everything with dust is a strategy that works but I think needs to be planned in advance. If you have the cost reduction tech + empire plan + legendary deed you can get great results.
