    Great choices.
Those are two iconic performances of classic BABYMETAL songs.
The members were still pretty young.
At Budokan for 'Rondo of Nightmare', Su was sixteen years old.
    Yui and Moa were fourteen.
Su was still just sixteen at Sonisphere.
Both Yui and Moa celebrated their fifteenth birthdays earlier on that European tour by taking over lead vocals on 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!'.
Yui in Paris, and Moa in Cologne, Germany.
Unfortunately, there's only fancam footage of those two performances.

Good double reaction again👊🏽⚡️Rondo is haunting in every way. Sadly they haven’t played this live since 2016 or 17. The crazy time signatures are probably a big reason for its absence in live sets.
IJZ is classic quintessential Babymetal. For 16 yr old Su-metal and 15yr old Moametal and Yuimetal to slay a crowd half way across the world in their first big festival is unprecedented. (Maybe the Jackson 5) 🦊🤘🏾

    Welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🔥
Thanks for coming back with another great double reaction..
As you can see this is not the usual happy BM song. It's one of the many songs composed by YuppeMetal (aka Yuyoyuppe), he's also behind Karate, Kagerou, the arrangements of Megitsune, Headbanger!! Night Of The 15 Mix (only the mix) and more new songs from latest album such Monochrome and Believing.
_"Akumu No Rondo"_ (or Rondo Of Nightmare) combines not only heaviness with dark waltz and dope time signatures changes but also delicate and fragile elegance that makes you want to grab your inception kit and go to rescue this 16 yo queen from this nightmare.
Temporarily title song was "Kill The Alice" so it is like Alice but instead of Wonderland she's trapped in a nightmare trying to escape and avoid some evil entity.
Rondo is a musical form in which you can hear a repetitive pattern, an example of this could be the song "Blue Rondo a la Turk".
The Kami Band is doing their second magnificent intro of the night with their own set called "Mischiefs Of Metal Gods". They become regular after this special live at Budokan 2014 and leaving baby-bones, from early shows, behind, shout-out to them thou.
They're Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums, this time Leda Cygnus is the first guitar.
This was the day (night) after the first live premiere of this song and she's dancing and performing like she already did a dozen times before, like a pro. Also she's showing some fierceness here dancing on that high dangerous mini stage with no wire and that's how she keeps winning everyone's heart.
But not everything was perfect here despite their impeccable performance and sound, and the day before the girls face that dangerous challenge on the stage, taking their own revenge after coming back in 2021 to celebrate their 10 years and leaving those ghosts behind, fortunately.
Like i said, YuppeMetal is the one behind this song and he took inspiration from "Protest The Hero - Bloodmeat" song, of course i recommend you to hear that blaster song.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful SuMetal solo and my favorite along with "Akatsuki" (live at Budokan 2014 is another great choice) The other solos are great too and those are:
    - No Rain No Rainbow live at Legend S 2017, heavily blocked thou.
    - Amore live at Wembley Arena 2016.
And of course the rest of the girls under "Black Babymetal" are enjoyable too, they're taking a break here while SuMetal is performing to come back later, so don't miss out on their other 4 songs too such:
    - "Onedari Daisakusen" live at Legend 1997, Gans Tomas got that clip safe to react.
    - "Song 4" or "4 No Uta" live at Budokan 2014.
    - "GJ!" live at Wembley Arena 2016
    - "Sis Anger" live at Tokyo Dome 2016".
    About IDZ:
    _Kitsune tobe!_ 🦊🤘🙅‍♂️
Just like you sae in the lyrics, Ijime Dame Zettai means "No More Bullying Forever" and this is the ultimate anti-bullying song ever.
This was the moment 60k UK crowd felt in love with BM, they called it "the miracle of Sonisphere", after this UK become the second home for them.
So sad the organizers won't do this festival anymore due to financial troubles.
This time one of the guitarist is Mikio Fujioka instead of Takayoshi Ohmura, the rest are the same from previous live at Budokan 2014.
Thanks for sharing this amazing performance when next month is gonna be the 10th year anniversary of this turning point and special festival in their careers.
    See you next time..🦊🤘🔥

    Great double reaction, thanks!
These are THE two iconic performances for each song.
"Rondo of Nightmare" is one of their darkest songs lyrically. It's about Su being trapped into an endless nightmare, without any chance to escape, where she's chased by a dark entity as she tries to run away and hide. Finally she understands there is no way out and asks the entity to show its real nature before giving up.
Here is an excerpt from an interview with RollingStone (April 2014 issue):
Q: Concerning Su-metal's solo songs we see that 'Akumu no Rondo' has been released as a new single.
Su-metal: It seems my two solo songs are 'Akatsuki' and Akumu no Rondo'. 'Akatsuki' has the sense of being the 'redness of passion' (realize that Akatsuki means 'red moon') as is a song where I move around passionately. Compared with that, 'Akumu no Rondo' possesses the feeling of 'blackness'. The temporary title for this song was 'Kill The Alice' based on an image of Alice falling into a cave and being flaying around in the darkness. This is a story where it seems that something is chasing me (this girl) around in the darkness of the cave where I can see nothing at all. Most of the songs I have sung up to meeting this one have been passionate songs but this song has allowed me to try my hand at new ways of singing and I feel I approach this song with a new way of expression each time I sing it.
"Ijime, Dame Zettai" or "IDZ" is definitely one of my top favorites. I absolutely love that final key change you noticed, good job! 😊 The song has indeed an important message, being an anti-bullying song. The tittle literally translates as "Bullying, no, absolutely" (or "absolutely no more bullying" or "No more bullying forever" as they officially translated).
This performance is a very important piece in BABYMETAL's history. This was their first performance in the UK (actually their first "big" stage outside Japan) and that was a massive festival with 50.000+ metalheads most of which never heard about BABYMETAL before. That particular type of crowd can be very hostile if the band don't match their expectations. Also the organizers moved them to the main stage several weeks before due the online buzz. And they actually were worried that no one would show up. The result? walking off the stage while the crowd was chanting for more. They also sold more merch than any other band that weekend (including Iron Maiden, Metallica, Anthrax, Dream Theater, Slayer...). That is what I call an epic win.
    Until next time!
    🤘🦊

Thanks so much for the great information! Rondo of Nightmare certainly showed a different side of Su metals vocals expression. I did not expect the darker tonality and lyrics but it sounded so great!

"Rondo of Nightmare" is another reason (there are many!), why we call her "Queen". This was an outstanding performance she did being just 16 years old. I absolutely love it! And the Kamis "summoning" her is an outstanding performance, too! They shine, every single one of them. GREAT musicians!
"IDZ"... this performance was the cherry on top of their first festival performance in the West. They had already won over the crowd (there are several pits going. THAT is the sign that the crowd loves it!), but the ending was epic... "We want more!" chants is the greatest thing they, being a Japanese "curiosity" performing "cute metal", could get from a western crowd of metalheads. Most of the crowd didn´t know anything about them at the start of their performance...
Three young, smol 🤣Japanese girls, backed by world class musicians, achieved something nobody would have imagined even in wildest dreams.

Little fact rarely addressed about their Sonisphere appearance. Before their set began, the Kami band went out on stage to do their sound and instrument checks. Each did a brief de facto "solo." The audience, most of whom did not know who Babymetal was, were evidently impressed and I cannot help but think it sets things off to a good start.

Awesome dude! Loving these double features!
Rondo of Nightmare absolutely stands out to me. Majority of Babymetal's songs, even if somber, generally end in an uplifting and hopeful maner. However, Rondo of Nightmare is one of the only with a truly dark forboding feel that is purposely left unresolved.
IDZ is an early Babymetal classic, and an amazing song. You got the gist of the meanign with the lyrics. Sonisphere UK was an iconic and historic show for Babymetal, as it was Babymetal's very first major international appearance infront of a true metal festival. Iron Maiden was the headliner that day. Majority of the 50K+ UK crowd had no clue who Babymetal is, and they managed to win a big portion of them over with this 5-song set. This helped propel Babymetal onto the world stage, and the rest is history.
Looking forward to the next one! 🤘🦊

    • @JasonsSongStop
      @JasonsSongStop  5 месяцев назад +6

Yes Rondo of Nightmare really explored that darker vibe with an unresolved ending like you mentioned. It was very different for Babymetal but it sounded so great! I always admire how they handled Sonisphere. It's one thing to perform in front of your own fans who already love you but to travel to the other side of the globe and be just one of many bands in front of fans most who have never heard of you takes a lot of self belief and courage. They admitted to being nervous but they must have been terrified remember Su was only 16 & Yui and Moa 15 (just) at this performance.
But as always they totally crushed it and left the fans converted and shouting for more. Ok Yui managed to tear one of the layers off her skirt but never mind 😁

Nice reaction, this is the whole set from fan cams but the beginning is Su talking about the show 6 years later and the excitement on her face and in her voice say's what the Sonisphere show meant to them, remember they had been booked for a small side stage and promoted to the main stage when Gimme Chocolate went viral globally earlier in 2014 and there had been social media threats to boo them off. They had the biggest pits of the festival and sold the most merch and that year Iron Maiden and Metallica headlined so that gives an idea of the impact these 3 teenagers had on 60000 plus uk metalheads in just 5 songs. ruclips.net/video/zthGYiS5JNE/видео.html

Well done checking the lyrics for IDZ first, but you skimmed over them and missed some really powerful thoughts about how the bullies aren't necessarily the worst part of being bullied, it is how your friends stand by and do nothing or pretend not to even notice.
Sonisphere 2014, their very first time in the UK, their first major event outside of Japan and the biggest crowd they had seen up to that point. You heard the crowd at the end calling for one more song ... 25 minutes earlier probably 97% or more of that crowd didn't have a clue who or what BABYMETAL were - they had walked on stage to a sea of 50k+ puzzled faces, a sea of UK metalheads wondering why there were three little Japanese girls in red tutus on the main stage at one of the biggest metal festivals.

Lyrically, Rondo is easily Babymetal's darkest song. A song about a monster stalking a young girl in a recurring nightmare is a far cry from the normally upbeat themes that feature in Babymetal's lyrics, so it's got a very different feel to most of their other songs. If you want an in-depth analysis of the meaning of the song, Prof. AJ Hartley has done a lyric breakdown on his channel - ruclips.net/video/EG_Fl_LXbhg/видео.html Rondo one of my favourites because Su just gets to go all out on the vocals without needing to worry about doing much choreo. Sadly, it hasn't been performed live at all since 2017.
Sonisphere 2014 was Babymetal's first big western metal festival and their first chance to prove that they were more than a gimmick. The were originally slated to appear on a smaller side stage, but a few weeks prior Gimme Choko had gone viral and the interest in Babymetal exploded so they were moved to the main stage. UK festival crowds are notoriously hostile, so there was some concern about how the crowd would react, but in subsequent interviews the girls have said that they weren't scared, they were excited by the challenge of winning this crowd over. They played a five song 25 minute set, and by the time it was over the crowd was chanting for more, and they sold more merch than any other band that weekend and were the talk of the festival. It was the moment that Babymetal arrived at a legitimate metal band.

Rondo: her nightmare, something is stalking somewhere, she says just come out and show yourself already, stop chasing and appear.
Great you looked up the lyrics first, should keep that format. (Ijime = bullying, dame =not/never/stop, zettai=absolutely)
