_Kitsune tobe!_ 🦊🤘🙅♂️ If you got hard time pronouncing the title of this song you can write/say IDZ for short, it means "No More Bullying Forever" and it's the ultimate anti bullying song. This was the moment 60k UK crowd felt in love with BM, they called it "the miracle of Sonisphere", so sad the organizers won't do this festival anymore due to financial troubles. I suggest you a little pause in your journey and enjoy a new super collab: -- F.Hero x Bodyslam x Babymetal - Leave It All Behind official MV If you wanna know more about this band i suggest you to get "The Not So Extensive Guide To BabyMetal" by A Fox Song, but for the moment the answer is no, the band members and even one of the girls didn't last till these days. Stay tuned next May 23, another special new collab along with Electric Callboy is coming, they released a cool teaser but don't look for any music snippet yet. Keep enjoying more BM songs and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥
Thanks again for the great reactions! The guitarist on the left is Mikio Fujioka. Unfortunately he passed away in 2018 due to an accident during an astronomical observation. R.I.P Great guitarist Mikio🎸🎸
Master Fujioka lives on in the many, many shredders he influenced that are currently producing Fire in Japan. Of note Midori from Lovebites was not only a student of Mikio but she is friends and besties with Fujiokas's Widow to this day.
@@ricdale7813 > "Of note Midori from Lovebites was not only a student of Mikio but she is friends and besties with Fujiokas's Widow to this day." It warms my heart hearing this!
Great reaction, thanks! To answer some of your questions: - This was July 2014 so, Su-metal was 16 while Yuimetal and Moametal just had turned 15 (Moa the previous day). - Yui Mizuno (the one you paused on to say she looked so young) left the group officially in 2018 after not performing since October 2017 due to an undisclosed health issue. - Mikio Fujioka, the guitarist with the ESP E-II Horizon FR-7 you also paused on, passed away in January 2018 due to the injuries suffered from a fall while stargazing. RIP Ko-gami. - Their choreographer is Mikiko Mizuno (not related to Yui, btw). She is the director and choreographer of the dance troupe Elevenplay and also works with Perfume and BABYMETAL. This performance is a very important piece in BABYMETAL's history. Yes, this was their first performance in the UK (actually their first "big" stage outside Japan) and that was a massive festival with 50.000+ metalheads most of which never heard about BABYMETAL before. They were afraid before they got on stage because that particular type of crowd can be very disgusting if the bands don't match their expectations (bottles with disgusting content involved, you know...). There was also some buzz online for booing them off the stage. The organizers moved them to the main stage several weeks before due the online impact of "Gimme Chocolate". And they actually were worried that no one would show up (they couldn't see the crowd from their position at backstage). The result? Walking off the stage while the audience was begging for more. They also sold more merch than any other band that weekend (including Iron Maiden, Metallica, Anthrax, Dream Theater, Slayer...). This is an epic win. Until next time! 🤘🦊
@@robote7679 No problem! Also someone from the festival's organization told in a relatively recent interview to Metal Hammer that this was the largest crowd seen in that particular time slot (around 12 pm, they were the second act for the day at the main stage).
@@road-runner Understanding the circumstances these "teens" faced their confidence and courage become ever more awe inspiring. Thanks again for the info!
Can you imagine these young girls performing for this massive foreign crowd, a huge percentage who had no idea who they were! They nailed it! They were moved at the last minute to the main stage… no pressure! BABYMETAL are a force. Love them forever! 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Some basic background as you asked. Original members started in 2010 SuMetal lead vocals born 20th December 1997 YuiMetal scream and dance born 20th June 1999 MoaMetal scream and dance born 4th July 1999 2018 Yui had to leave due to health issues 2018-2023 continued as a duo of Su and Moa with 3 'avengers' dance only including Momo 2023 MomoMetal scream and dance officially joined born 3rd March 2003 So in this performance Su was 16 and Yui & Moa would both have just turned 15 as it ran from 4th-6th July. This was their first western live appearance and they were apparently very worried about how they would be accepted given the supposed hostile reputation of UK fans. As you see they owned the place and went down a storm. The earlier live performances tend to have a more frenetic energy compared to the later more polished ones. It's well worth checking out some of the earlier lives as they're wonderful. The original and historic Babymetal and Kamiband. Oh, how I miss those times! This performance was the true test for Babymetal! And they triumphed heroically! 🦊🦊🦊
They are 14/16 Years old at this concert . That one with the ripped dress is Yuimetal , she leaves the band in 2018 due to health conditions. The choreographer is Mikiko-metal she was in charge of the Tokio olympic cerimony .In the end they are saying WE ARE BABYMETAL!!!!!!! They are this good since the begining. And as the crowd We want more!!! Thank you for the react! 🔥🤘🦊🔥
Performing in front of a discerning British audience at the age of sixteen and a half... Let's face it, that's SOMETHING! That's why the majority of the crowd, who have never heard anything about BABYMETAL until this moment, starts shouting frantically - "We want more!"
ありがとう! It is a miracle of the Sonisphere. The audience(60,000+), seeing BABYMETAL for the first time, was just watching for the first song, but by this song (the 5th song), they were in this state. SU-METAL (vocal & dance) is 16 years old, YUIMETAL (scream & dance, gloves on right hand) is 15 years old, MOAMETAL (scream & dance, gloves on left hand) is 15 years old. YUI withdrew from the program in 2018 due to ill health. Kami Band (God of the East), from left to right: Mikio Fujioka (guitar), BOH (bass), Hideki Aoyama (drums), Leda (guitar). Mikio climbed a mountain for astronomical observation in 2017 and was lost in a slip and fall accident during the climb. Recently, God of the West has been playing. イジメ(ijime=bullying), ダメ(dame=no good), ゼッタイ(zettai=Absolutely) No more bullying forever!! 🔥🤘🦊 From🇯🇵
Thanks for this reaction, this is a special performance, it's sometimes called the Miracle of Sonisphere by Babymetal fans. This was the 3 performance on their first world tour and their first foreign metal festival performance. And they ended up in front of a huge crowd, easily 50 000 people. A few months before this performance they were moved mainstage (on the saterday, second day of the festival) because of their popularity online (for example viral video: Gimme Chocolate MV), but also selling out fast the venue they were performing a few days after the festival (and being moved to a bigger venue, selling that out fast too). The festival mentioned, they had never seen so many people at such a time at the mainstage in the existence of the festival. Most of them were not fans, they might have seen 1 video of them and are curious, lots probably also came to see them fail. What you you got to see partially was a wall of death followed mosh pit. Often at Babymetal shows, they end up being circle pits instead of regular mosh pits. These were the 3 original Babymetal members, they lost Yuimetal in 2018, after a year of absence, they were touring with multiple backup dancers (often with adapted choreography) at the time to fill the stage, Moametal and Su-metal were a duo for years since that day in 2018. But shortly after performing with just 1 extra dancer, so they could get back to their original triangle formations. In 2019 they got a more permanent situation, with 3 regular dancers, Riho, Kano and Momoko, each taking turns to have create that trio on stage. Over time, Momoko was the only 1 still performing with them regularly and she because in 2023 a regular member: Momometal. Babymetal had had 4 eras when it comes to live performance, they started in 2010 when they were just 11, 11 and 12 years old with Babymetal and they just dancing and singing to a backing track, no band, etc. Then they got fake musicians, aka Babybones (bones suite, you'll know if you see it). In 2012 they got their a live band (Kami band) just for some encores at their own shows, the members are made of some of the best session musicians that money can buy in Japan (as these are not easy songs to play, the level they are playing at is pretty much a requirement). They ended up with 4 regular players and some substitutes in case they have other projects to work on. In 2013 they had a mini tour in Japan with all songs played by the live band. Since 2019 they got the masks, but also they added a 'western Kami band', which is musicians from the US. Again 4 regulars, but not all could do all shows. In 2023 Babymetal performed the most live shows ever, which is alnmost 100 that year, so it's a good bunch of shows for certain, you can imagine they might also want to have some other projects as well. The original Japanese Kami band is now referred to as Eastern Kami band. 5:21 yes, this is 'baby face' Yui(metal), she had turned 15 weeks before. The other, Moametal, turned 15 2 days before this performance, the other 2 performances were actually to celebrate their birthdays. In Paris, France and Germany. Su-metal was 16, roughly 6 months before. 6:17 this was the last song in the setlist, almost seems like the bigger the crowd they more driven Su-metal becomes. They made so many fans that day, that seems to be their goal, make as many new fans as possible. Their passion is live performance, you can see how driven they are even before Babymetal. This event went around rock/metal music press around the world as well. 6:46 they have a choreographer who helps come up with the dance moves and teaches them and they can perfect it themselves after. An other group (Perfume, Babymetal's sort of big sister group in multiple ways) the choreographer works with has said they learn a new song dances in an hour. This is probably the level Babymetal is now at too, but obviously took longer 10 years ago. Moametal who had the least experience with dance, pretty much started with that when Babymetal got started, 4 years before.or few months less than that. 12:42 yes, Babymetal is an all-round live experience, huge talents and lots and lots of hard work went into this. Not just fun, eurforic. :-) With a name like Babymetal you'd think it might be about their age, but officially, it means 'new kind of metal' and is actually a Japanese pun, because the way they spell and say it in Japanese it's almost the same as heavy metal. 'bebi metal' and 'hebi metal'. PS He plays 6 string bass.
"Who does their choreography?" That would be Mikiko Mizuno, or as we call her, Mikiko-metal!! She is the choreographer for the Japanese Idol group "Perfume", she was the choreographer for "Sakura Gakuin" (where Babymetal started) and for Babymetal. She also has her own High-Tech Dance Troupe called "Elevenplay" and she was the Lead Choreographer for the 2016 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony section introducing Japan as the next Host Country!! She is flat out World Class!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Great reaction! This was a historical performance that truly put Babymetal on the world stage for the first time. Not easy for a relatively unknown band (internationally) to absolutely dominate 50K UK metalheads at a legit metal festival like this, especially at age 16/15. Quick timeline for all the Babymetal changes over the years: *2010:* Formation with Su, Moa, & Yui. *2012:* Kami Band East backed live for encores only. *2014:* Kami Band East backed live fully. *2017:* Yui stopped performing in Oct (health). *2018:* Su & Moa continues as duo, joined by various backup dancers. Kami East guitarist Mikio passes away in Jan. Yui leaves band in Oct. *2019:* 3 backup dancers (Avengers) rotates into Yui’s old spot. One of them being Momoko. Kami Band West (Americans) introduced to assist increased touring. *2021:* 10-year anniversary concert, then hiatus. *2023:* Babymetal resumes touring, 4th album, Momoko made official 3rd member, and Kami West takes over as sole backing band. This is now the reborn, new Babymetal we see today. This performance was mid-2014, and your previous reactions were mid 2023 performances with the reborn, “New Babymetal”. Hope that helps! 🤘🦊
One thing is that this concert was the breakthrough for Babymetal in west. Even this very song might have been the breakthrough. You can see that - the audience is kind of cool in the beginning and totally gets off at the end - they love it! So - you have just looked at an historical event. Another thing is that live concerts in Japan in big venues is the real thing. Look for "Babymetal Headbanger Legend of 1997" - you will not regret it! Or you can find my favorite Yava. It has the weirdest text. They sing in Japanese, but if you can find the translation, its worth it. I still do not know what it is about.
In 30 minutes on a Sunday Babymetal Up Ended the British Metal Music World. The metal press had a hard dealing with them. They weren't set up to interview Teenage girls from Japan. One journalist said the were the most famous Japanese High Students in the World. This was their International Breakout. One thing it led to was they became the Japanese band to perform in Wembley Arena!! Mikiko Mizuno aka Mikikometal has been their Choreographer from the beginning. Mikiko was the choreographer for the Tokyo Olympics. Now Moa creates the main dance steps with Mikiko coming to assist with the final version.
Good reaction and good choice of song and performance - as you have been told, this was an historic moment for BABYMETAL being their first time in the UK and their first major event outside of Japan - also the biggest crowd they had faced at that time with over 50,000 UK metalheads there. They played two small concerts (their first outside of Asia) in the days before this where Yui and Moa celebrated their respective 15th birthdays - Yui in Paris, Moa in Cologne. A couple of days after Sonisphere they did their first UK headline show at the Forum in London. I think all your questions were already answered in the comments below (some people have got some details like ages a bit mixed up - GAnimal83 has given you a good timeline). The vast majority of that crowd had very little or no idea who or what BABYMETAL were and when three little Japanese girls (all barely 5 feet tall) in red tutus walked on stage they must have wondered what they were doing on the main stage of a major Metal festival. There were a few who had seen the 'Gimme Chocolate' video, thought it was a joke and had made threats of booing them off and throwing bottles (not unknown at Sonisphere with bands the crowd doesn't like). Before they went on stage they couldn't see the crowd from the angle they were at and were worried nobody had come to see them. When they walked out they were faced by a sea of puzzled faces. Apparently Su-metal saw the faces and thought to herself "This will be fun. Let's knock it out of the park!" They won the crowd over, from the confusion at the start to the chants of "We want more" and "One more song" at the end. It only took them 25 minutes, 5 songs and they broke through all the language barriers and disproved the lies and misinformation from those people who thought they were a joke or a gimmick. You can see how happy Su was at the end as she waved to the crowd before calling their traditional end of show "WE ARE..... BABYMETAL"
PS, they had already been together for 4 years at this stage, they started as a virtually un funded sub group of a Japanese Idol group releasing the odd single and playing to 100 plus people and borrowing cloths, there are some very good guides you may find interesting to watch.
This is the original lineup of Su-metal in the middle on lead vocals, Moametal on the right doing scream and dance, and Yuimetal on the left, doing scream and dance. Su-metal was 16, and Moa and Yui were 15 (Moa's 15th birthday was the day before this performance). If you think they look young here, you should see them back in 2011 at Tokyo Idol Festival - ruclips.net/video/V0dOATO3CaM/видео.html This performance features one of the classic Japanese Kami band lineups of Mikio Fujioka (left side), Leda Cygnus (right side), BOH (six string bass), and Hideki Aoyama (drums). Despite the long hair, the Kami band are all men. Babymetal's guitarists always use seven or eight string guitars, and most of the songs are written in drop tunings. Although they're older now and the newer dances are less frantic, they still perform the old songs with the old choreography with just as much gusto as they did then. Their choreographer's name is Mikiko Mizuno (no relation to Yui); she is the leader of a professional dance group called "elevenplay". She has been Babymetal's choreographer for their entire career, designing the routines for all their songs. They're saying "We are... Babymetal!". At the end of every show, they call out to the crowd with "We are..." and the fans shout back "Babymetal!" After they have done it a few times and gotten the crowd to shout it back loudly enough, they finish with Su-metal saying "See you!" and then being echoed by Moa and Yui or Momo with "See you!" immediately after, and that's how you know the show really is over. This performance is widely considered to be one of the most important of their entire career. It is known among Babymetal fans as "The Miracle at Sonisphere". It was their first time Babymetal had performed at a major metal festival. They were originally only supposed to play on a small side stage, but after Gimme Chocolate went viral a few weeks earlier, the interest in them grew enormously, and the event promoters decided to move them to the main stage. Although it was their first time performing in front of western metal fans, and despite the fact that UK festival crowd are notoriously hostile, the girls have said in subsequent interviews that they weren't really nervous, just excited for the chance to show what they could do. The crowd was initially a little skeptical when they began their 25 minute set, but by the end, as you could see they were chanting "We want more!", and Babymetal sold more merch than any other band that weekend, and were the talk of the festival. It was really the moment that Babymetal arrived as a force in the metal scene.
6-string bass actually, BOH on bass is such a fun charismatic stage presence. If you watch their 2016 Download version of Karate when Su calls for the crowd to start jumping it cuts to a wide shot and BOH with his giant 6-string are getting like a foot of air while playing.
You definitely get it, so i subed The whole thing was built around Su, her voice ,stage presence, and chrisma, and as you can see, they own that stage . They dont need special stages and big light shows . All they need is the Kamis backing them a stage and the audience they were born to perform . Their shows, even the smaller ones on tour, the best experience ever 😁 🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Welcome back to the Foxhole and the wonderful world of happy metal that is BABYMETAL! 🤘🦊🤘 Most of the truly important information has been or will be given in other comments, so I like to give the fun titles and nicknames given by The ONE (Babymetal’s Fan-base) as well as other (un)important information. BABYMETAL started in 2010 when the original trio were 11/12 years old as an experimental sub-unit of the larger JPop/JRock group Sakura Gakuin. Babymetal are: Suzuka Nakamoto\Su-Metal (Vocals and Dance): Angel of Song, Queen Su, Queen of Kawaii, Metal Queen, and Metal Goddess. Before Sakura Gakuin, she performed in a stage production of "The Adventurers" and was a member of the JPop trio, Karen Girls. Fun Fact: Bullfrogs are her Kryptonite Yui Mizuno\Yuimetal (Scream and Dance) Left the group in 2018 due to undisclosed health issues: Angel of Dance, Princess Yui, Yui-bot, Tomato Princess, Tomato-Kun, Kawaii Princess and Devourer of Souls (or at least she stares into your soul). Yui had a minor role as a child actor in a Japanese TV Drama before joining Sakura Gakuin. She has cute, chubby cheeks. Fun Fact: Yui is tickled by Bullfrogs. ** WARNING ** Do NOT, ever, under any circumstances call her “small”, "smol", “short” or “tiny” (same rule applies to Moametal). Moa Kikuchi\Moametal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Love and Smile, Queen of Hearts, Princess Moa, Kawaii Princess, Super Moa-chan, Maiden of Mischief, and Headmistress of Hedabon. She has huge dimples and a smile that melts the hardest of hearts. Fun Fact: Loves to troll Su-metal on-stage with little pranks as well as torment Su-metal with Bullfrogs. Momoko Okazaki\Momometal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Joy, Kawaii Princess, Princess Peach, Momo-Monster, Queen of Kazoo, Vampire Slayer, Kabuki Queen. Also a Sakura Gakuin graduate. Was a contestant on the Korean reality survival program "Girls Planet 999" (which thankfully for The ONE, she was eliminated from early on) and performed in a stage musical adaptation of the manga, "Black Butler". Momoko was the only “Avenger” (see below) to perform in the “10 BABYMETAL Budokan” shows in 2021 and was officially named Momometal and made a permanent member in April 2023. She deserves the spot! Fun Fact: Momoko's father is a popular comedian in Japan known for making dead-pan jokes. Momoko worked very hard to make her way without using his name as a crutch. BLACK BABYMETAL: Yuimetal and Moametal performing as a duet while Su-metal takes a breather. Also known as “MoiMoi”. There are 4 BBM songs (GJ!, Onedari Daisakusen, 4 No Uta\Song 4, and Sis. Anger) some of which Moametal performed solo a few times after Yui's departure. Now that Momometal is a member, we are hoping for more BBM songs with MoMoa! But only the Fox God knows. AVENGERS: 3 Dancers who took turns performing the choreography in Yuimetal’s spot after her departure. They were not official members did not have microphones and were not even named. It was the fans who figured out who they were and you will see them in live performances between 2018 and 2021. They were: Momoko Okazaki (see above). Riho Sayashi: Suzuka’s former rival at Actors School Hiroshima, often competing for the same roles. Former “Ultimate Ace” of the JPop Idol group Morning Musume. Now a solo artist. Kano Fujihara: Former Member of Sakura Gakuin, the school-aged Idol group that BABYMETAL was born out of. Like Suzuka and Moa before her, Kano was "Student Council President" her last year in Sakura Gakuin and like Yui, was considered arguably the best dancer in SG during her time there. She is now a member of the Idol group @onefive, which is comprised of 4 Sakura Gakuin graduates (Kano, Momo, Soyo and Gumi). Kano only performed with BABYMETAL in Japan as she could not travel, likely due to her commitments to Sakura Gakuin and the then developing @onefive. We are #notacult. Kitsune Da O! 🤘🦊🤘
6 string bass :) Two 7 string guitars. This concert is known as "The Miracle of Sonisphere" - BABYMETAL were pretty unknown in the west at the time.. then got booked at a big metal festival in the UK.. got upgraded to the main stage.. and who knows how the crowd are going to react? In the past, bottles of piss have been thrown at acts they don't like.. so this was like a litmus test of if BABYMETAL were metal enough or not - and they passed with flying colours 🤘 Yeah in the beginning I think from a western perspective the novelty was kids doing metal (they were about 15/16/15 years old at the time of this gig).. but the name BABYMETAL is more of a reference to the birth of a new genre of kawaii (cute) metal. The name BABYMETAL is also a play on words as written out in Japanese it looks very close to the word "heavy metal" They always work with a choreographer called Mikiko to work out the dance routines.. and it's just as high energy today as it was back then. They could enter the olympics, if dancing was an event 😅 So what's changed: - guitarist on the left side Mikio Fujioka (the one you thought was a girl) with the black 7 string sadly passed away not long after new year 2018 - YUI-METAL (the one you thought looked about 9) had to leave the band due to health issues around the same time.. they tried a few systems.. and landed on a rotating "avenger" system with a guest 3rd girl for a while.. and recently one of those avengers Momoko Okazaki got upgraded to a full member and became MOMO-METAL - so they are back to a trinity - the band known as the "kami band" (god band) always had extra members available if someone was unable to make the tour.. but a few years back they added a second band called "the kamis of the west" mostly made of American musicians to give them an option to tour overseas more. Both bands are masked up at the moment (personally I hate the masks.. corpse paint is much cooler).. mostly it's been the western kami band handling the tours lately PS: and the classic name issue got ya, don't worry you're not the first. It's "ijime" not "LJIME" (youtube font problem where capital i and lower case L look the same hehe) - it's said like "ih jih meh", "dah meh", "zet eye" - literally "bullying, prohibited, definitely" but gets translated to "no more bullying, forever"
BABYMETAL - THE ONE ruclips.net/video/TZRvO0S-TLU/видео.html Wail till you see this stage setup and the crowds below them and it has subs if you want to turn them on. A very power full song.
That was their 1st show outside Asia and they owned it. They have a choreographer, and she is good, she did Lady Gaga and Perfume. She why the girls are never out of breath, she balances the singing and dancing perfectly. I was the one who said they were always good. BabyMetal was the singer's 4th band at age 12 and they all did a TV show, they were already super professionals. Now you have to do their previous band Sakura Gakuin, it is J-Pop but they are super teeny tiny. They had to evolve as they aged, I am sure their 25-26 year old bodies hate their 14 year old high energy songs. Yeah, early on they put the baby into metal.
Glorious!!! I saw this randomly about 2 years ago and was instantly kicked into a new world; one where I could enjoy heavy metal again for the first time in decades! Thank you Babymetal for bringing dance front and center to heavy metal! Rock and roll was invented as dance music, and good metal is no different. Energy such as this is good for the soul! Bless Yui wherever she may be.
This was there first time outside Asia, they were booked on a side stage but were bumped up to the main stage when Gimme Chocolate went viral. Su was 16, Yui had just turned 15 and Moa was just about to turn 15. They speak so fondly of this gig and I've seen Su describing how they were really nervous and at first people just looked confused and she said as they started playing people started to dance sing and it was like a waive going out from the stage, she gets so exited in the interview at describing the memory, not surprised, that crowd was over 60000 and at the end there all shouting one more song, they also they sold more mirch than any other band over the entire weekend. Boh uses a 6 string bass as well, easy to miss in this, good reactions so far, try Rondo of Nightmare Budakan 2014 black night, you wont believe what the Kami band can actually do. They are a group of some of the best session missions in the would and they are simply next level. I've enjoyed all your BM reactions so far so keep them coming and a quick heads up, new Babymetal single featuring Electric Callbay is out on Thursday 23/05 so this week.🤘🤘🤘🦊🦊🦊
Nice reaction. For this music festival Babymetal was a relatively new and unknown band from Japan. Worried that no one would be in the crowd as they were one of the early performances that day. But there were many big act headliners that day so many folks got their early to get a good spot. As their show went on as Su recalled it. They won the crowd over and it was like wave that went from the stage to the back of the crowd. That just kept getting added to as more folks became interested in who was performing. And as you heard by the time they were saying "We Are Babymetal" at the end. The crowd was asking for one more song. Always leave them wanting more. Babymetal left the stage with their signature "See You". Great from the start for sure.
Hi from Ireland, great reaction, you noted her control at such a young age, I strongly suggest another epic confidence crowd control epic they were also teens, 16/17 react to road of resistance live in Japan official, truly epic 😊
if you want to see them when they were really smol (though Moa will deny being smol) check out the MV for Doki Doki Morning. I thinkl Su was 12 and Moa and Yui were 11
All the great Japanese female bands you've been reacting to? This is the show that kicked down the gates and let them all through....If ever these 3 girls faltered on that stage that day, or the crowd booed and threw things at them as some had said online, we might have had to wait years before bands like Band Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites, etc could get major traction or attention in the West.... But it was because of these 3 teenagers, got on that stage and won over that crowd, that we get to enjoy all the awesome female metal/rock bands from Japan. 😁😁😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘
One of my favs - and I love that Yui ripped her skirt near the beginning and then spent the rest of the time with that choreography trailing a piece of it nearly as long as her. Great reaction to what was an incredibly important performance for them.
The days before. The twists and turns. The events that put BABYMETAL in this place at this time are the stuff of legend. This concert will always be a milestone in the life of this band and the Queen Suzuka.
This was the legit, Japanese Kami Band backing them. Their management later recruited a group of western musicians to serve on overseas tours. The two different Kami Bands are known as the Kami Band of the East and the Kami Band of the West. Since BABYMETAL came off hiatus and released their last album, I don't think the Japanese Kami Band has played with them at all, which is a real tragedy. The American guys are great, but it's not the same. the guitarist on our left of the stage in this video is the late, great Mikio Fujioka AKA "Ko Gami", or "the little god of guitar". He was also th guy who tutored BABYMETAL's other main Japanese guitarist, Takayoshi Ohmura, at Musicians Academy Japan. Mikio died after a fall from an observation platform where he had been enjoying his hobby of stargazing. He was an amazing musician: a total master of trem and harmonics. His former fellow Kami Band members and other friends arrange events to raise money for Mikio's family and to keep his memory alive and have done since he passed. Takayoshi Ohmura owns at least one (I believe two) of Mikio's guitars and has had one with him at every BABYMETAL gig he played after Mikio died.
Babymetal (one word) was built around Su-Metal. If she wasn't as great as she is, the entire group likely fails. They got big because they offered the world something new, had a good team around them, and are consistently great live. Regarding the Kami Band, they had a pretty stable lineup at this time where the bass guitarist, BOH, played 6-string bass, Hideki Aoyama was the drummer, and the guitarists were either Mikio Fujioka, Leda Cygnus, or Ohmura Takayoshi, the latter of which I believe made his debut with Babymetal in 2014. Mikio is the seven-string guitarist here, and I believe the other is Leda. Ohmura tends to be more demonstrative and have flashier guitars than Leda, though both are incredible musicians. Mikio was really short even for an Asian man, but he sadly passed away in 2018. I love listening to him play because he's so good but mainly because, when given the spotlight, he played differently than nearly every other guitarist I've heard. His death hit the Japanese rock and metal scene hard. I've seen Midori of LOVEBITES and Kanami of BAND-MAID post about him.
Yes, the original Kami Band always painted their faces. The Masks were more an idea of the Kami Band West, as well as a switch to Black robes. And the old Kami Band is now a thing of the past. But I think this had more to do with a conflict of different generations. You can probably complain about a lot of things behind closed doors, but if you try to attack your stage director openly you should know that this is a bad idea, especially if the lead vocalist and the stage director are one and the same. There were simply reasons behind it. I know at first I had my doubts about his crawler idea but If I look back, at the amounts of Videos where this crawler played its own role, I would say it worked it is simply a question of reused materials. Yes, the old babymetal was extremly energetic, on the other hand we must not forget that their real dancing background was rather limited, if we Look behind it we could probably say that they reinvented their own dances. Today they have a huge amount of background knowledge. A d we mustn't forget these were kids in extremly cheap Outfits while the Outfits they wear today are at the same time extremly conservative and Flash at the same time. And Well we all know that Yui left 2017 due to health reasons and in 2018 she decided that she would not return. They have the best choreographer that you can hire in Japan. And they were 16 14 and 14 at that time.
Totally fun reaction. Watching your face as the fact that they really always have been great. Well priceless! Your enthusiasm is infectious. The confidence these teens show and their command of the stage! Well you said it perfectly..."own it!" p.s. you have sooooo many wonderful performances to see!
Great reaction, LOVE it how you´re jamming to this!😄 You were told that they were very good already when they began (in fact, they were phenomenal performers at even younger age!). Did those folks lie to you? 😉 Some additional info regarding the band: this was the Kami Band East, all 4 musicians being Japanese. From left to right: Mikio Fujioka (the "little God" of guitar, RIP), BOH (Daisuke Bohte), God of 6 string bass, Hideki Aoyama God of the drums and Leda Cygnus, God of guitar. The ladies have a whole team working with them, so they have a choreographer, Mikiko Mizuno (NOT related to Yuimetal!). She does phenomenal work regarding development of the choreography for each song. I´m quite sure that the ladies have a huge influence themselves nowadays, but OTFGK. Yes, exactly this was their goal right from the beginning. Kawaii Metal. Inventing it, polishing it and spreading it. They suceeded big time 😅
Su-metal just gave an interview in Warsaw on the latest tour a couple of days ago; she said that this was a defining moment in their career where they were accepted by a tough UK audience of metal heads (about 65000) outside Japan, and they won them over. At the end of the show 13:54 you can see them standing a few moments and appreciated what they had done such a special moment for the "one".
Yes BabyMetal is always fire . Great reaction. Getting into BabyMetal is what the fans call the fox hole and it will give you plenty to see for years and lots to learn. They even have guide videos out there about the history of this Band since its inception. Very interesting and cool. This band even has its on lore. They are all grown up women now and their music has evolved. But the theme was always Kawaii Metal or Cute Metal. That is still their theme but they are not kids no more so its not quite as Kawaii or j poppy. It is cool to see their music change over time. Honestly even though I dig their new album their older music I get more into. The music is more high energy and has more older metal feel IMO. Many amazing songs from their past and this is one of them and one of the biggest moments early on in their career for sure. Their performances in front of their home country audiences add even more to it. They pack big venues and the whole crowd is into every moment even jumping up and down and dancing along with Moa and Momo and Yui their former member. Im sure it has been suggested but try one of their big early songs like Headbanger . Try Headbanger Live @ Legend 1997 Also another from that same concert is BabyMetal Death Legend 1997 . Trust me you are going to love those two haha.
Sue was 16 here, the others were 14 years old. Their first live performance was four years earlier. They weren't even teens. One of the background singers left a few years ago, and the lead guitarist in the band shown here died in 2018.
Sonis sphere 2014 was BABYMETAL's first appearance at a music festival outside of JAPAN. At the end of their set the crowd was begging and wanting more.
To get that crowd reacting like that was more of an accomplishment than you know. There had been protests against Babymetal performing at all. These 15 and 16 year old girls had had multiple threats against them leading up to the appearance, including threats of being pelted with bottles of urine from the crowd if they dared take the stage. Babymetal already had fans in the UK who would back them and protect them. There was basically a war on social media which threatened to break out in the crowd, but Babymetal went out there with more courage than I've ever needed to have and won over the entire crowd majestically. This song was the end of the set. When they shout, "We are..." and the crowd replies en masse, "Babymetal!" it was the most wonderful moment in music festival history. Then they were chanting "We want more!" as Babymetal left. Su, Yui and Moa could have raised an army that day and conquered England if they'd wanted to. We were with them!
Baby Metal has been a thing since 2014 when the Girl Trio was 14 and 15 years old. The backing band is the Japanese Kami band of Top Top level studio Metal players from Japan. Guitarists Ohmura,Leda,Fujioka and ISAO appear in this era. After 2017 Amuse , the management company has obscured the backing musicians faces and use many different studio players. This era is the Very Best imo. Yui,Fujioka,Leda and Ohmura......... Here is another badass Early Baby Metal with only Yui and Moa. Their heaviest by far. Sis Anger. ruclips.net/video/LcYnfUt6Vvg/видео.html
I am sure that many comments have said: Babymetal was not about their age but was based on that the word "heavy" and "baby" in Japanese is very similar in writing and sound, so was a word play. It was also a new metal - so in its infancy. Japanese is known for word play and onomatopoeia. For example the song "Death" is a play on the English word "death" and the Japanese word "desu" (pronounced des) which mean pertaining to me and used in phrases when talking about yourself. So in the song you are never quite sure if they are saying Su-metal-desu or Su-metal-death, for example. The song Kagerou plays with the Japanese word for sway - one of my favourite songs. Anyway, you have probably had most of this explained already - have a great day.
The pronounciation is "Eee-jee-meh, Dah-meh, Zeh-thai". Or just use "IDZ" in short. Separately, Ijime (イジメ) means "bullying"; Dame (ダメ) means "no, don't"; Zettai (ゼッタイ) means "absolutely, unconditionally". Did you catch the 50,000 crowd chanting "We want more" as BM left the stage? (They also performed Babymetal Death, Gimme Choco, Catch Me If You Can, & Megitsune that day.) Astonishing how the supposedly hostile British metalheads cheered after being entertained by a schoolgirl ditty against bullying! (The song had debuted live in 2011 when the girls were 12-14.) While instrumentally savage & lyrically relevant, it's also thematically very youthful & was part of BM's live repertoire (along with Doki Doki Morning, Iine!, Akatsuki, Onedari Daisakusen, Uki Uki Midnight, Catch Me If You Can, Headbanger, Kimi to Anime Ga Mitai) when Su was still part of idol group Sakura Gakuin. BM was still targeting their own age group before embarking on their first world tour. Also, as the girls later grew older & were releasing new material, they would more or less retire a lot of the SG-era songs (including IDZ after 2017), & return to them again only sporadically for nostalgia's sake (thankfully the big chunk of 10th anniversary Budokan gigs in 2021). English lyric subs (my own translation, since I'm more used to Chinese fansubs): [VERSE 1] I couldn't even have my own dreams Stranded between light & darkness, all alone It's not just about me getting hurt Others were gawking too, including you [PRE-CHORUS 1] Confidence (believe in yourself!) I didn't have any (don't give in!) I was always shirking (hate to be found!) Until yesterday (yesterday is over!) Farewell to the old me (bye bye!) [CHORUS] Bullying (no!) / bullying (no!) That's not cool at all (no! no! no! no!) Getting hurt / hurting others Aren't we all scarred at the end Kitsune (fly!) / kitsune (fly!) I'm sure you can take flight (fly! fly! fly! fly!) All the pain / all the grief Let them all out It's alright since I shall now protect you [GUITAR SOLO 1 + FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY (to depict inner turmoil)] [VERSE 2] Desisting on nights when I feel like bawling Locking myself deep in my heart, all alone Those who dismayed me weren't just outsiders Others were feigning obliviousness, including my friends [PRE-CHORUS 2] Not a thing (nothing!) / Tight-lipped (say nothing!) I was on the verge of giving up (don't throw yourself away!) Until yesterday (yesterday is over) Farewell to the old me (bye bye!) [REPEAT CHORUS] [SPOKEN] The pain... aching... all the while... alone... deep in the heart... pretending to ignore... again... I won't run anymore... ijime... dame... zettai [GUITAR SOLO 2 + FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY] [BRIDGE] Whether dear to me or harsh for me They can only make the heart stronger I don't want to see that crying face anymore [REPEAT CHORUS] Ijime, dame, zettai (no! no! no! no!) Ijime, dame, forever Ijime, dame, zettai (no! no! no! no!) Ijime, dame, dame
You just saw Su-Metal go full Queen of Metal mode for one of the first times. She feels the song. Su has been the voted the Queen of Metal since 2016, you already see it. The dancers were like 14 maybe 15. Japan does everything at the team level, Su's family added to the song along with the writers at Amuse. Her Dad was a Punk rocker in the 90's and her sisters were J-Pop idols. She did Acting and Music school. Total Pro.
Her dad was a heavy leather street punk. He is tough and did not let her get taken advantage of. Yay for Punk Rock Dad. She always has him at her back, and he could stab you.
She almost looks like her Dads twin and has the same Death Glare. I am sure every time she was a little girl and did something wrong, she got the death glare. So, she mastered it. Now it is a money maker for her, lol.
'EE-zah-may DAHH-may Zet-tie' roughly..phonetically close. Su was..15/16 Moa and Yui were 14. And yep, Su has commanded the stage since she started, even before BM or Sakura Gakuin existed.. For a generally quiet reserved, well very shy, person she IS an absolute force on the stage. As those around her say when she steps on stage, she literally becomes a different person. Suzuka disappears and SuMetal appears in her place (with an occasional peak at Suzuka poking thru sometimes when things get silly)
Su-Metal's older sister wrote the intro "do do" part. Your first pause where she was owning it, they asked her what her thoughts were, she said, "This is fun.". She purely loves it. She said she is high for two weeks after a big show. Yeah, the gimmick early on was little girls doing metal. But they were so damn good the age didn't matter. The band is in their 30's, you need like 20,000+ hours to get that good, so yeah 30's it is.
Her Dad was a Punk Rocker in the 90's. Her older sister was a J-pop girl, developed issues. Sister when to school and now runs a mental health clinic. I assume the clinic is partially funded by BabyMetal. The Girls went thru the horrible Japanese music scene. They always help the other girls and will hire them as part time extras when they need work. They are such good girls, no trash.
The BABYMETAL concept is Idol Pop + Death Metal. + EDM. I think here, SU is 15, YUI and MOA are 13. They played a couple of days earlier at a venue in London (their first overseas gig), and the reception was so positive that BABYMETAL were moved from the originally planned side stage to this main stage. This is the last song of the complete set that you can also watch on RUclips. Remember, they had been working at SAKURA GAKUIN for years before this. You can find videos on RUclips. You can also see home movies of SU singing at talent shows, etc., when she was six or seven years old. Even at that annoying age, you could tell she was something special. Guitarist MIKIO died in an astronomical observatory accident several years later. They’re saying, “We are BABYMETAL.
Su-metal turned 16 in December, this was in July, Yuimetal turned 15 a few weeks before and Moametal just turned 15 only 2 days before. Just in case it isn't clear, Babymetal (2010) started when Sakura Gakuin (2010) got started, at most a few months difference, it's not before, Babymetal was part of Sakura Gakuin, so they were doing both and Babymetal split off in 2013. Yui and Moa remained part of Sakura Gakuin and did both at the same time. Actually Yui and Moa couldn't attend one of the most important performances of Sakura Gakuin in the year 2014 because Babymetal was opening for Lady Gaga in the US.
They were ages 16 and 14 here. Their first hit was Doki Doki Morning when they were ages 12 and 11. That MV is available here on You Tube..Yes, she's shouting "we are . . ." and the crowd is rep[lying "BABYMETAL"
They are the same, except that Yui has been replaced with Momoko. Yui left 2019 and Momoko was added 2023 or 2024. In the time between, the third girl was rotated between several dancers, and those extra dancers did not sing. Regarding age, Su is born 1997 and Yui and Moa are born 1999. So they are 17 and 14 in this concert. They started 2010, so then they were 13 and 11. If you want to see the first song/video, look for Doki Doki Mornin. It shall be the music movie. It is a must see - they are so cute and it is fun and HEAVY!
Yui is greatly missed. She was the cutest one. And totally weird. She loved tomatoes. And had a strange humor. And also was considered the best dancer. She took it seriously. She disappeared under mysterious circumstances. She was said to wanting to do her own thing, but she never showed up doing anything. And officially nothing is known. I think the non official story is that she got ill in som way and could not handle the stress of touring. Band members do leave, but the saddest thing here was the strong bond between Moa and Yui. They had been very close friends since kindergarten. And they performed on Babymetal concerts as Black Babymetal, the mischievous ones. You absolutely have to look at a Black Babymetal song, I recommend Sis Anger or GJ. Sis Anger is really heavy and GJ is fun.
Aren't they so cute 😜. Jpop meets metal studio band. Someone's brainchild concept really sold well. I wonder if the studio band does birthday parties 🎉 😂
If you are ever interested in learning about BABYMETAL such as their origins, choreographer, and such, you could react to the recent guide released in April titled 'The not so Extensive Guide to BABYMETAL'. For your next songs I still recommend Road of Resistance and Megitsune, both Live at PIA Arena 2023. Though I would also add iine! from the same concert as well. Got a recommendation for ya. Okeefe music foundation and their cover of Wish by NIN. The foundation is for kids and teens to learn music. Their cover of Wish I think is better than the original imho.
One tiny trick for the non-bilingual people out there. Languages aren't that hard. If you want to know how to pronounce japanese romaji the correct way, you already have all the tools needed to do it. English actually uses japanese words: tsunami, pokemon, wasabi, karate, tatami.... Use the same principles and the same pronunciation. Stop making it sound like learning languages is hard. Just think for 10 seconds and suddenly you can actually pronounce Japanese just as well as a native. Wanna know how you pronounce ijime ? Well how do you pronounce jiu-jitsu? How do you pronounce karate? You've now learned how to pronounce ijime. That's not magic, that's simple logic ;). You don't say tsunameye, right? Same logic.
@@Amiekinz4ever The point is to help people see that it's actually easy for everyone once you know the trick. Pronunciation is often the easiest part of learning a new language especially if said language has very few exceptions (French is one of the hardest when it comes to pronunciation exceptions). In the case of Japanese, there's practically no exception. Once you know how to pronounce 5 or 6 words with different particles, you should be able to pronounce the entire language. And the good part is English uses all of the necessary words in common speech already so I'm simply saying all the knowledge on how-to is something all English speakers already have but may not be aware of it. Have a great day!
Here's the Kami Band East (guitarists Omura, Mikio; bassist BOH, drummer Aoyama) jamming without BM makeup at Omura's solo concert in 2016 ruclips.net/video/PMJ2RkYkhAA/видео.html Guitarist Leda & drummer Yuya were also part of the core band. Only 4 musicians get to play each BM gig, with the others filling in if someone has other commitments.
Notice that Yui's costume is self-destructing. They share the choreographer from Japanese Super Group, Perfume. There are lots of photos online of Perfume posing with Babymetal. Both Babymetal and Perfume are talents from Amuse.
Can't do this. Can't listen to someone who loves hearing themselves talk. Good luck with channel but not for me. Pauses every couple of seconds. Seriously COUNT. 10 ODD IN 20 SECONDS FFS. Yes not my channel and channel can do what they want. But i won't be only 1 who thinks this. Today alone in 5 other reaction channels I've TRIED TO WATCH ONLY TO SWITCH OFF DUE TO EXCESSIVE PAUSING. JUST TO HEAR THEMSELVES TALK. THEY CAN'T KEEP IT IN FOR AT LEAST A MINUTE OR EVEN 30 SECONDS then say all the things they noticed.
BabyMetal does not refer to the age of the girls. BabyMetal is the name of the genre of music that they are credited with creating. Kawaii, or Cute metal. BabyMetal refers to the birth of the genre. Baby=Birth.
That crowd is an Iron Maiden crowd as they were playing in the evening and the girls were meant to be on one of the side stages but gimme chocolate had just gone viral so the show producers decided to put them on the main stage in the afternoon in front of 55000 people mostly who had no idea who they were me included, they slayed it and won over the UK metalheads was the day i fell down the Foxhole🦊 I always feel sorry for Ghost and Anthrax as they had to follow this 🤣
_Kitsune tobe!_ 🦊🤘🙅♂️
If you got hard time pronouncing the title of this song you can write/say IDZ for short, it means "No More Bullying Forever" and it's the ultimate anti bullying song.
This was the moment 60k UK crowd felt in love with BM, they called it "the miracle of Sonisphere", so sad the organizers won't do this festival anymore due to financial troubles.
I suggest you a little pause in your journey and enjoy a new super collab:
-- F.Hero x Bodyslam x Babymetal - Leave It All Behind official MV
If you wanna know more about this band i suggest you to get "The Not So Extensive Guide To BabyMetal" by A Fox Song, but for the moment the answer is no, the band members and even one of the girls didn't last till these days.

Master Fujioka lives on in the many, many shredders he influenced that are currently producing Fire in Japan. Of note Midori from Lovebites was not only a student of Mikio but she is friends and besties with Fujiokas's Widow to this day.

Great reaction, thanks!
To answer some of your questions:
- This was July 2014 so, Su-metal was 16 while Yuimetal and Moametal just had turned 15 (Moa the previous day).
🤘🦊
Wow, that's insane!
Some interesting factoids in there. I'd never heard the merch stuff before. Very cool, thanks.

Original members started in 2010
SuMetal lead vocals born 20th December 1997
YuiMetal scream and dance born 20th June 1999
MoaMetal scream and dance born 4th July 1999
2018 Yui had to leave due to health issues
2018-2023 continued as a duo of Su and Moa with 3 'avengers' dance only including Momo
2023 MomoMetal scream and dance officially joined born 3rd March 2003
So in this performance Su was 16 and Yui & Moa would both have just turned 15 as it ran from 4th-6th July.

With a name like Babymetal you'd think it might be about their age, but officially, it means 'new kind of metal' and is actually a Japanese pun, because the way they spell and say it in Japanese it's almost the same as heavy metal. 'bebi metal' and 'hebi metal'.
PS He plays 6 string bass.
😊😊😊
Excellent information.
Thank You 🦊
That was the moment BABYMETAL took over world! 🙂
"Who does their choreography?"
That would be Mikiko Mizuno, or as we call her, Mikiko-metal!!
Po!
You've just experienced the Miracle.
I believe it
The single most important day in Babymetal history. This day gave them the confidence of the gods.
Great reaction! This was a historical performance that truly put Babymetal on the world stage for the first time. Not easy for a relatively unknown band (internationally) to absolutely dominate 50K UK metalheads at a legit metal festival like this, especially at age 16/15.
Quick timeline for all the Babymetal changes over the years:
*2010:* Formation with Su, Moa, & Yui.
They are soooo good
In 30 minutes on a Sunday Babymetal Up Ended the British Metal Music World.
They're saying: We are...Babymetal
Thank you
Good reaction and good choice of song and performance - as you have been told, this was an historic moment for BABYMETAL being their first time in the UK and their first major event outside of Japan - also the biggest crowd they had faced at that time with over 50,000 UK metalheads there.
Let's knock it out of the park!"
They won the crowd over, from the confusion at the start to the chants of "We want more" and "One more song" at the end.
If you think they look young here, you should see them back in 2011 at Tokyo Idol Festival - ruclips.net/video/V0dOATO3CaM/видео.html
This performance features one of the classic Japanese Kami band lineups of Mikio Fujioka (left side), Leda Cygnus (right side), BOH (six string bass), and Hideki Aoyama (drums).
The entire set for this show is out here on YT. It is really cool to watch and see the crowd change through the set.
6-string bass actually, BOH on bass is such a fun charismatic stage presence. If you watch their 2016 Download version of Karate when Su calls for the crowd to start jumping it cuts to a wide shot and BOH with his giant 6-string are getting like a foot of air while playing.
You definitely get it, so i subed
The whole thing was built around Su, her voice ,stage presence, and chrisma, and as you can see, they own that stage . They dont need special stages and big light shows .
All they need is the Kamis backing them a stage and the audience they were born to perform . Their shows, even the smaller ones on tour, the best experience ever 😁
🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Welcome back to the Foxhole and the wonderful world of happy metal that is BABYMETAL! 🤘🦊🤘
Most of the truly important information has been or will be given in other comments, so I like to give the fun titles and nicknames given by The ONE (Babymetal’s Fan-base) as well as other (un)important information.
BABYMETAL started in 2010 when the original trio were 11/12 years old as an experimental sub-unit of the larger JPop/JRock group Sakura Gakuin.
Babymetal are:
Suzuka Nakamoto\Su-Metal (Vocals and Dance): Angel of Song, Queen Su, Queen of Kawaii, Metal Queen, and Metal Goddess.
Before Sakura Gakuin, she performed in a stage production of "The Adventurers" and was a member of the JPop trio, Karen Girls.
Fun Fact: Bullfrogs are her Kryptonite
Yui Mizuno\Yuimetal (Scream and Dance) Left the group in 2018 due to undisclosed health issues: Angel of Dance, Princess Yui, Yui-bot, Tomato Princess, Tomato-Kun, Kawaii Princess and Devourer of Souls (or at least she stares into your soul).
They were:
Momoko Okazaki (see above).
In the past, bottles of piss have been thrown at acts they don't like.. so this was like a litmus test of if BABYMETAL were metal enough or not - and they passed with flying colours 🤘
Yeah in the beginning I think from a western perspective the novelty was kids doing metal (they were about 15/16/15 years old at the time of this gig).. but the name BABYMETAL is more of a reference to the birth of a new genre of kawaii (cute) metal. The name BABYMETAL is also a play on words as written out in Japanese it looks very close to the word "heavy metal"
They always work with a choreographer called Mikiko to work out the dance routines.. and it's just as high energy today as it was back then. They could enter the olympics, if dancing was an event 😅
So what's changed:
- guitarist on the left side Mikio Fujioka (the one you thought was a girl) with the black 7 string sadly passed away not long after new year 2018
- YUI-METAL (the one you thought looked about 9) had to leave the band due to health issues around the same time.. they tried a few systems.. and landed on a rotating "avenger" system with a guest 3rd girl for a while.. and recently one of those avengers Momoko Okazaki got upgraded to a full member and became MOMO-METAL - so they are back to a trinity
- the band known as the "kami band" (god band) always had extra members available if someone was unable to make the tour.. but a few years back they added a second band called "the kamis of the west" mostly made of American musicians to give them an option to tour overseas more. Both bands are masked up at the moment (personally I hate the masks.. corpse paint is much cooler).. mostly it's been the western kami band handling the tours lately
PS: and the classic name issue got ya, don't worry you're not the first.
They sure did
I thinkl Su was 12 and Moa and Yui were 11
Yeah,that's awesome and great reaction.more BABY METAL❤❤❤
All the great Japanese female bands you've been reacting to? This is the show that kicked down the gates and let them all through....If ever these 3 girls faltered on that stage that day, or the crowd booed and threw things at them as some had said online, we might have had to wait years before bands like Band Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites, etc could get major traction or attention in the West.... But it was because of these 3 teenagers, got on that stage and won over that crowd, that we get to enjoy all the awesome female metal/rock bands from Japan. 😁😁😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘
You are a treat.
Welcome to the one.
BABYMETAL is the Greatest experience in my lifetime.
Birth year 1954
Thank You 🦊
Rock on!
Love this performance. One of my favourites
Great reaction!🙅♀️🙅♀️🙅♀️♪
Thank you!! 😁
One of my favs - and I love that Yui ripped her skirt near the beginning and then spent the rest of the time with that choreography trailing a piece of it nearly as long as her. Great reaction to what was an incredibly important performance for them.
that song has a great message NO BULLYING
The days before. The twists and turns. The events that put BABYMETAL in this place at this time are the stuff of legend.
This concert will always be a milestone in the life of this band and the Queen Suzuka.
😊😊😊
5:50 On the eighth day, Queen Su created Chaos. And she saw it was good.
👍Awesome performance and an important step in spreading positive energy to the world.🦊 🖖❤
Yes, the original Kami Band always painted their faces.
🤘🦊🤘
😊😊😊
Totally fun reaction. Watching your face as the fact that they really always have been great. Well priceless! Your enthusiasm is infectious. The confidence these teens show and their command of the stage! Well you said it perfectly..."own it!" p.s. you have sooooo many wonderful performances to see!
I can't wait to dive in
Now they have become legends at the age of 25+🦊🤘😸
Great reaction, LOVE it how you´re jamming to this!😄 You were told that they were very good already when they began (in fact, they were phenomenal performers at even younger age!). Did those folks lie to you? 😉
Some additional info regarding the band: this was the Kami Band East, all 4 musicians being Japanese.
They suceeded big time 😅
Yes they are great
She was 16 years old !!!
That's so kewl!!!
This is a BABYMETAL staple 🔥🤘
It's total 🔥
That sucks that the guitarist died
Sonis sphere 2014 was BABYMETAL's first appearance at a music festival outside of JAPAN. At the end of their set the crowd was begging and wanting more.
Yes the crowd wanted more for sure
That's so awesome!
Oh, one more thing, their Band Merch out sold every other band that year.
(The song had debuted live in 2011 when the girls were 12-14.)
While instrumentally savage & lyrically relevant, it's also thematically very youthful & was part of BM's live repertoire (along with Doki Doki Morning, Iine!, Akatsuki, Onedari Daisakusen, Uki Uki Midnight, Catch Me If You Can, Headbanger, Kimi to Anime Ga Mitai) when Su was still part of idol group Sakura Gakuin.
English lyric subs (my own translation, since I'm more used to Chinese fansubs):
[VERSE 1]
I couldn't even have my own dreams
Stranded between light & darkness, all alone
It's not just about me getting hurt
Others were gawking too, including you
[PRE-CHORUS 1]
Confidence (believe in yourself!)
I didn't have any (don't give in!)
I was always shirking (hate to be found!)
Until yesterday (yesterday is over!)
Farewell to the old me (bye bye!)
[CHORUS]
Bullying (no!) / bullying (no!)
That's not cool at all (no! no! no! no!)
Getting hurt / hurting others
Aren't we all scarred at the end
Kitsune (fly!) / kitsune (fly!)
I'm sure you can take flight (fly! fly! fly! fly!)
All the pain / all the grief
Let them all out
It's alright since I shall now protect you
[GUITAR SOLO 1 + FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY (to depict inner turmoil)]
[VERSE 2]
Desisting on nights when I feel like bawling
Locking myself deep in my heart, all alone
Those who dismayed me weren't just outsiders
Others were feigning obliviousness, including my friends
[PRE-CHORUS 2]
Not a thing (nothing!) / Tight-lipped (say nothing!)
I was on the verge of giving up (don't throw yourself away!)
Until yesterday (yesterday is over)
Farewell to the old me (bye bye!)
[REPEAT CHORUS]
[SPOKEN]
The pain... aching... all the while... alone... deep in the heart... pretending to ignore... again... I won't run anymore... ijime... dame... zettai
[GUITAR SOLO 2 + FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY]
[BRIDGE]
Whether dear to me or harsh for me
They can only make the heart stronger
I don't want to see that crying face anymore
[REPEAT CHORUS]
Ijime, dame, zettai (no! no! no! no!)
Ijime, dame, forever
Ijime, dame, zettai (no! no! no! no!)
Ijime, dame, dame

I love it when fathers look out for their kids
@@Amiekinz4ever Some Japanese fathers will teach their girls to knife fight and give them knives on their 15th birthday.
@@Amiekinz4ever Su has pulled a knife in one video, I would not doubt her Punk Rock Dad trained her to defend herself.

Tobe !
Another great reaction! Dunno how you do it.
I appreciate that
Su-Metal's older sister wrote the intro "do do" part.
You have not seen the Muscle Metal dancers yet. They do Japanese fighting movies; they come and go, depending on schedules. They scare me.
This seems to have increased the number of places where the girl's can stay as homestay guests.

This was the original Kami band!

Thank you so much!
They were ages 16 and 14 here. Their first hit was Doki Doki Morning when they were ages 12 and 11. That MV is available here on You Tube..Yes, she's shouting "we are . . ." and the crowd is rep[lying "BABYMETAL"

@@Amiekinz4ever Per Wikipedia, they are responsible for kickstarting the Japanese women metal movement!
Damn, back then they ran like crazy foxes.. I really miss Yui in the band 🍅😩
She seemed amazing
The name BABYMETAL is not about their age. It refers to the new metal genre they created .. “Kawai metal” - “Cute metal”
Yup, I love it
Please react to Babymetal guide 🦊
their name is actually a pun.
if you write "heavy metal" in japanese it will be
ヘビメタル
while "babymetal" is written as
ベビメタル
That's crazy
Aren't they so cute 😜. Jpop meets metal studio band. Someone's brainchild concept really sold well. I wonder if the studio band does birthday parties 🎉 😂

If you are ever interested in learning about BABYMETAL such as their origins, choreographer, and such, you could react to the recent guide released in April titled 'The not so Extensive Guide to BABYMETAL'. For your next songs I still recommend Road of Resistance and Megitsune, both Live at PIA Arena 2023. Though I would also add iine! from the same concert as well.

You missed a great video.

Same logic.
مجھے خوشی ہے کہ یہ آپ کے لیے آسان ہے۔ یہ بہت سے دوسرے لوگوں کے لیے اتنا آسان نہیں ہے۔ بہت ساپیار.
The band is guys, but one of the guitar players looks feminine.
That's what I thought, not that it matters though. They sound great
Here's the Kami Band East (guitarists Omura, Mikio; bassist BOH, drummer Aoyama) jamming without BM makeup at Omura's solo concert in 2016
ruclips.net/video/PMJ2RkYkhAA/видео.html
Guitarist Leda & drummer Yuya were also part of the core band.
Good luck and be blessed. Much love
@@Amiekinz4ever thanks. Sorry
babymetal is a bit too old. I want u to react new bands that younger generation loves.
So, when it comes to Japan, something like drummer Yoyoka and guitarist Li-sa-X ?
Which bands?
@@Amiekinz4ever Ado is the beast.
BabyMetal does not refer to the age of the girls. BabyMetal is the name of the genre of music that they are credited with creating. Kawaii, or Cute metal. BabyMetal refers to the birth of the genre. Baby=Birth.
That crowd is an Iron Maiden crowd as they were playing in the evening and the girls were meant to be on one of the side stages but gimme chocolate had just gone viral so the show producers decided to put them on the main stage in the afternoon in front of 55000 people mostly who had no idea who they were me included, they slayed it and won over the UK metalheads was the day i fell down the Foxhole🦊
I always feel sorry for Ghost and Anthrax as they had to follow this 🤣
