Talk about listening to every single word. Still blowing my mind I am getting advice or instruction from Venus. What gold! I am so happy thinking about the young kids being inspired. What a gift.
When she said “that’s what my dad taught me”, that was genuinely quite sweet. I don’t know how many coaches Venus had during her career, but her referencing the technique taught by her father is true appreciation
In an age when it seems most top athletes and others are joining sites to charge fees for lessons to have an all time great donate her time and put these up for free .... is refreshing to say the least!
I love the way Venus explains things, far better than a lot of the teaching pros on here. If you are reading this Venus, please do approach shot and volley videos.
Exactly! She is so clear and to the point. It's not only easy, very easy but also it's fast. She's not there beating around the bush. I found her the best tennis coach I had and better than those youtube coaches as well.
Another lesson in the fundamentals of tennis from one of the greats of tennis. Thank you Venus Williams for taking time out of your day. You could easily open a successful tennis academy and people would fight to get in. Best wishes in all your endeavors.
I couldn't agree more! And yes, people would flood your academy. Her tips were some simple, clear, easy to follow and practice. A very instructive. Video!

OMG! Venus is teaching tennis 🎾 lessons on RUclips??? YAAAAAY!!! I have always wanted to learn how to play tennis! Now, I am going to learn! Thank you, Venus!
Start with the. Red Orange green ball progression that children and pros did with faster reflexes as a kid, the way to teach adults years faster to proficiency per usta with Better foot work spins and control plus playing right away and no struggling with starting karate day one breaking bricks- almost all don’t give up as well and enjoy it so I dunno why I’m not in red ball except they didn’t have it but if you find a friend or a kid you can start there you don’t need any pro instruction until you can play singles matches or points orange ball and yellow. Don’t start with doubles omg - it’s requisite to learn singles you will learn to be dumb if you want to learn 4 player variables and two formations and one side only or the other, which that changes every time you do a drill in class let alone match and is dumb to play first paying thousands of dollars .. so weird
Venus if your reading this I have never taken a likening into tennis that was until I saw you play. You are a very big inspiration to me you have taught me how to work in silence and let my success be loud. Also you are very pretty and have a wonderful day.💖 ps.thank you for taking your time to teach tennis on RUclips💖
Venus, I have been a fan of yours for about 20 years now, and I think I can speak for all of your fans when I say that you are giving us everything. To hear an expert world number 1 multiple grand-slam winner explain their technique, while being accessible and easy to understand! I am telling you, you need to approach a TV network to green light The Venus Show. You are a natural.
I approve this message. She really has a way of making things so approchable and fun while maintening in us the understanding that it is stuf to be taken seriously. So we entertained and also focused and interested by all the intricaties and the nuances of what she is saying. She will explain the intricaties very smoothly with that sweet yet confident voice, and then at one moment she would say in a cheeky but serious tone "Don't be weard guys" and that cracked me up so much.. and if i was her student i would just remember that for the rest of my life everytime i would practice my forehand.
I watched “King Richard” movie and really got to learn so much about the Williams family and their humble start and strong foundation, now they are still making a history with their results and yet finding time to share their knowledge and wisdom about tennis and it’s basics (for free not to mention).
Venus, your teaching technique is the best I’ve ever seen. It covers tennis in a perfect world and not so perfect world. If I had been made aware of these techniques earlier, my abilities and my love of the sport, would have been much greater. You are not only one of the greatest names in tennis, with these videos, you might have one of the greatest influences on tennis.
I love that Venus is doing instructional videos! She explains things very well and explains things others skip over. Please don’t stop posting these types of videos!

Ms. Venus, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this RUclips lessons. I am so humbled to be taught by a professional, learning from here. Thank you so much!
Top notch lesson on the forehand. Very rare to see legends giving classes like this. I hope I can hit my lousy forehand just a bit better after seeing this. Thanks Venus!
Thank you… I teach beginners under 3.5. Beginner’s can save themselves a lot of time by not binge watching all the tennis instructional forehand videos online, your video is all they need, no frills , to the point from a consummate professional. Thank you for passing on your knowledge.
The ball progression is 10x faster to proficient and with Better foot work, no struggle, more spin and control and almost none give up- with their slower adult reflexes trying to learn karate breaking bricks day one with two people at once hitting the brick at two spots only one side or the other - and 4 variables instead of one aka Singles is requisite to doubles, it’s insane to start on doubles when you don’t know the basic game of tennis, and way easier to learn staring with singles and ball progression just like kids and pros did with faster reflexes and shorter levers for no errors and a higher net for clearance - all the things they can do so easy they seem to know how they got there and it’s still done you stand on mats and a red ball fed sideways for 6 years and is on court 1 and 1 every day ? Then you did Orange green and yellow after 14 years or something I dunno. Adults can do it much faster lol
Oh wow. I am going to show this to my 6 year old son as I noticed red ball (stage 3) seems to have been used here ? I can only imagine it was used only to demonstrate as it bounces rather slow. Thank you very much. 👏👏🙏
Private lessons from a bona fide tennis champion and legend, and all for the cost of monthly internet access. Love how easy you make it and how you don't drag it out 20 mins. longer than it has to be because you just say the same thing 14 different ways. Thank you, Ms. Venus.
hi venus!! im 12 turning 13 and i’m really happy you’re teaching on youtube. i just started tennis a few months ago and i’ve been practicing everyday because i want to (God willing) go to college for tennis and go to Law school. i look up to you and i’m realllllly happy to see you teaching on youtube. this helped! :)
Venus, those common mistakes for players you pointed out were spot on. I know I’ve struggled, and still am struggling with many of these. Thank you for these pointers!
I've watched this video 5 times now and I am still learning. Love Venus's approach in these videos. My favorite part is her line about the matrix. 😂Venus, please make more videos of all the different shots and maybe tips for what we can practice on our own and how. I am a veritable beginner but want to become a strong player. Thank you!!!
What an incredibly generous human being! You could be doing so many other things with your time. I’m in shock I’m watching Venus Williams with my daughter. Thank you for uploading these to RUclips 🙌🏾
I loooooveeee these videos so much. Got my racket, my son is taking classes and will be teaching me. Thanks to these videos I have an "in" and can practice with him!!!
That’s the best video I’ve seen on RUclips, Venus explains so well and in simple terms, better than the pro teachers I’ve seen. Usually professionals don’t find it that easy to explain something they’ve been doing for most of their lives and don’t even think twice about “it just happens”. but she’s really natural.
Learn from the Legend of our time. Y'all i always felt that Venus Williams is the best ever tennis female player. stats probably don't reflect but over all she is.
Coach Venus is my fav to watch before practice, i tend to pop up on my FH so going to try to stay level today. 💖 And "Cs get degrees", my fav quote from college, YES they do! Love this
I’m a level 5 player and no one ever taught me to hit under the ball even though I still hit topspin. Now mine is greater than ever and more consistent. thank you so much Venus 🙏
Fantastic Venus! I've already had been fortunate to improve substantially my serve after your great class about it! Now, I am having the priviledge again to watch this great champion giving a class on forehand! I never though I would be so lucky! 😊 I cannot express how much this is amazing, awesome, stratospheric for me! 🤗🥰🤪Venus! Thanks heaps and, please keep up pumping us with your magic!
Venus you are the epitome of an athlete with all the knowledge for tennis but with the enthusiasm and teaching skills for everyone! Kudos to you for being great in and outside the court!
This is incredible. I’ve played for 10 years and coaches always focus on backhands, I’ve never been given the advice to focus on your forehand, which makes a lot of sense when Venus explained it! Thank you so much.
Hey Venus the fact that you’re on here on RUclips as one of the greatest to ever play giving us mere mortals tips in such a down to earth way is amazing. Honestly Wasn’t expecting it.
How generous of you to be posting these videos! They have been so helpful, and you have a natural ability to coach which makes learning easier! Thanks so much
People pay thousands for a lesson from a champ and this is free?!!! Thank u Venus i was also so nervous starting tennis this makes me have more confidence! 🙏🏼
I never held a tennis racket in my life, even if my 14 years old son is a tennis player and my partner likes to play whenever he can, with a basic level. They seem so happy on the court, and I just wanted to understand why. Right today I had my first lesson on the clay with my partner as a coach, and it has been delightful! I've also discovered today this amazing channel with Venus❤, teaching so clearly ( I'm Italian) !!! What a wonderful day!!! Now I know why tennis makes so happy! And I'm not going to stop! Thank you so much, Venus, for the time you spend teaching to us beginners in such a lovely way. Sorry for my English!!
You and your sister are the reason I even got into tennis so it's super cool to watch these gems of you giving your fans pointers you've learned from your parents and career experience. I'd love to see a video of you explaining your incredible footwork and netplay.
Thank you, Venus! I just assigned my high school team to watch this video, so they can learn from and imitate one of the greatest tennis players of all time!
Thank for your sharing your professional experience with us! I love hearing the deeper technique levels coming from the actual pros. Thanks for creating this channel! I agree. You could totally establish your own academy. So much influence you have on the tennis world. And you're funny!
Thank you Venus for this lesson, you are a great teacher. I think the grip is really inportant when using our forehand, so I was disappointed that you didn't include this in the lesson. If it is in another video, please let me know.❤️🎾
Thank you Venus for your expertise. Would love to see your lessons for backhand, serve and volley, and most importantly mental toughness. You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you!
I thought this video is better than 2Minute Tennis! Which says a lot! Why? You provided very simple examples and language and visuals and lots of teachers do not have all the elements of hitting a good forehand that you discussed, Venus! Nearly NO ONE has discussed the way the hand is used as a directional for the ball and how the swinging arm should be "outside of the guide arm" to give your forehand the "space" that is needed! My girls, Abigail and Laylah will use this video to be inspired and LEARN A LOT from you. You are an excellent Teacher...great relatable vibe and friendly and comfortable to learn from!
Absolutely loved this! Thank you so much for sharing - wonderful to hear this so simply explained from an absolute legend! I hope you do more of these!
Cannot wait to see “Venus academy”. Why and why not? Haven’t watch “King Richard” yet, remember your dad was fighting the “gang” in public tennis courts to train you gals, and one day they gave up to your dad, watched that from the vhs tape training the Williams in block buster videos renting long time ago. Thank you for your dedication lesson.
Thank you, Venus! My forehand is dangerous when I'm in the zone...hittin' that sweet spot...don't play wit it! Got it, now I can see how to better direct my ball, by leading with my hand. As always, a delight to connect with you, learn from your videos and check out your tennis swag too!✌❤🙌♊ 🔥💯🎾👗😘
I commented a few times before but I now want to express two things. 1) How I am now certain resolute that this very format in how you deliver the education is more organic and most importantly a bigger encourager of memory of the order of your instruction/muscle memory via remembering not just how you move the racket everywhere from the ambience of the court the time of day where the shadows are. I find myself in this uncommon sentiment that modern instructional videos that feature the ever so notorious transitions (i.e. fade, zoom in, fade left)...perhaps not always useful. I don't speak for everybody but I do hope in the back of my head that I actually do but sacrificing that extra few seconds of watching you walk back to the back of the court and then back to the front is actually critically important because it creates an entire story and memory for the listener and the very eager tennis student. Honestly when was the last time I remember transitions--and actually help me remember the entire concept of whatever I'm studying? 2) I actually have bad memory or may I say selective memory so if I want to be serious with something I just need to watch over and over and over again before I even begin to try so that way it'll minimize any unnecessary habits I could have made if I didn't pay so much attention to your video. My methodology in learning -- I watch your video a good 7 to 8 times and then not think about it for a while (1 week or so) and then watch it a few more times and then head to the court. This is so interesting you're not even opening the topic of education but I see the things that you're doing and it's making me realize the very organic and natural ways how humans should learn not to devalue some of the technological advances we've made to make things more instantaneous but nothing beats an actual organic video like you do we are so spoiled. P.S. Richard Williams and Oracene Price -- you guys are the mad scientists of the 80s.
Venus, you are an incredible teacher, and cover areas which no other coach seem to explain. We are privileged to learn unfiltered from you direcly. Please start a tennis coaching academy, and happy to join if there are any employment opportunities come by, am only a 3.5 level player :)
Just look, Venus Williams is sharing her championship skills with the world, free of charge.....such a huge heart.....this woman is amazing, in every way. Thank you Venus, nothing but love and respect for you and Serena. XX
Another great video. I like the fact that Venus shows us how she hits her forehand often with the racket head lower than the wrist. It makes sense for tall people and is more natural and relaxed. Also the right leg coming through after contact helps rotation. Great instruction from top pro.
I really appreciated the way that Venus seems to be talking directly to you. She does a great job explain not only explaining the basics of the shot but the whys of it too. Great job!!!
So glad I found this. I take tennis lessons but continue to struggle with my form. There are some excellent suggestions here that I can’t wait to work on when I get back on court! 😊
"Stay Level" two words I have never heard in regards to hitting the forehand. I will be focusing on this going forward until it is in muscle memory. Thank you.
"You see how weird that looks? Don't be weird" 🤣☺️💝
My most favourite tennis player, LONG LIVE Venus Williams ❤❤❤❤
I loved when Venus said, “That’s how my Dad taught me.” I can’t believe she is teaching on RUclips. Thank you Venus!
I loved that moment too. Very thankful!!!
Love ya VW !!!!!
Es por su grandeza y calidad humana ella junto a su hermana pasaron momentos duros en su infancia por eso comparten tanto conocimiento gracias Venus

Thank you for teaching on RUclips!! Really great to get tennis advice from such a pro Starr, because then you learn it well. And no matrix, 😄 great!
I literally had my first tennis lesson yesterday so finding your tutorials are super helpful 🙂
XX
Thank you Coach Williams! I been wanting to learn to basics of tennis! You’re the best!
You’re such an inspiration and a legend. Thank you so much Venus. 💖💖💖
Hi Venus!!! Can you plss make a volley video !!! Huge fan!:)
I said before, it's a privilege and pleasure can receive lessons from a great person and champion. Thanks a lot, beloved Venus! ❤️🌹👏🏻🎾🏆
I would love to see one on footwork
So glad I found this. I take tennis lessons but continue to struggle with my form. There are some excellent suggestions here that I can’t wait to work on when I get back on court! 😊
love u girl!!! Big fan!!!
The clarity of your comments and demonstration helped me a lot. Thank you, Venus and keep the videos coming, please.
Venus🐐and Serena 🐐 best 🎾👌🏻
Thank you so much . We are really grateful that a legend like you is teaching us . Kindly create more videos under this category .
1:47 don't be weird 😆
"Stay Level" two words I have never heard in regards to hitting the forehand. I will be focusing on this going forward until it is in muscle memory. Thank you.
