I love it that a multi grand slam winner who has crushed many overheads on the biggest stages and in the highest pressure situations without putting much thought into it can struggle teaching the concept. Virtuosos learn it and just do it. Coaches teach it but may not be able to perform it. It's an interesting dichotomy. Love your work on the channel Venus. Keep it up and good luck at AO.

I am a beginner in tennis and enjoying the initial phase. Let me tell you I have watched so many videos & trainers on tennis training but nothing matches yours. Your videos are so simple clubbed with step by step guidance and it really started helping up my game. It’s so kind of you to share your expertise as a great gesture of giving back to society.
One struggle I m facing is I often catch the ball late & arm distance is not proper despite of being in the right posture.
I would request if you could post few videos on establishing the right contact point and hitting timings to catch the ball early.

Venus and Coach Eric, the information you shared is priceless. Thank you for that.
In the overhead shots examples you guys made, the overhead looks simple, effortless and smooth. And Venus looked super elegant.
I took notes and will watch the video over and over again. And, when I practice my overhead. I'll imagine the effortless effort Venus puts when hitting her overhead and hear the sound she generated when hitting the balls.
The overhead is my most favorite shot. I love practicing against the wall; the information you guys provided will help me improve for sure. 🙏 🙏 🙏

Maybe Venus can show us how to do the backhand lasso short-angled little Droppers over the Netcord (takes all the pace off the
ball and hits killer short angles with no pace when the ball is either below the netcord to just flick it back over the net or just drop the
ball on an angle over the net if its above the netcord, the ball does not sit up in the court but it dies quickly in small bounces..). I saw a 12
year old kid doing the Vader Death Star stuff against MEP, the king of the pushers and destroyed him with soft touches.. I think its done with the racquet up high behind the head to get the touch and angle. It would be good to see a lesson to show us how to do this properly for those of us who can't run around on the court all day on dealing with all the fast 100+ mph balls. Because running after fast 100+ mph drives all day for hours do wear you down physically in a match..... So I was thinking about a death touch weapon to compensate.....

Thanks Venus!! Chris here from Raleigh NC. im 42 and just started my tennis journey 11 months ago. i dont know jack s*** but what i have discovered is that your teaching ability is remarkable. What little technique ive learned thus far has come from your videos and another account called essential tennis. Im wishing i had developed this interest in my teens but, - that ship has sailed! So for now its learning bits and pieces from you, a pro... THE best! Thanks for explaining things that should be obvious but arent, and also for the breakdown of why. I'm a musician (piano) and play in a band but have done lessons as well. Maybe one day, ill be close to "on your level" 😜

THANK YOU SO MUCH, VENUS!!! My coach never really went over overheads with me, but she expects me to know how to do them 🥲. I haven’t had a lesson for almost two months now because it’s freezing here is Bedford, Pennsylvania, and I’m currently in wrestling season. I take lessons in Holidaysburg, which is 45 minutes from where I live. There are inside courts about 15 minutes away from Holidaysburg in Altoona, but my coach is too busy to do lessons too. She plays in State College at least four times a week. I’m hoping to start up again as soon as wrestling season is over in February because I’ll be playing my freshman year of tennis in the spring.

Venus, a great video that explains the sections to approach the ideal overhead shot. I like how you are the student and assistant coach i.e. explaining some points but asking Coach Eric's opinion. The way you made a joke that had you doubled over when you said 'and hit', the natural comedian in you. 💜✌🏾🎾

Excellent video simple to follow, clear messages and great that you Venus still need a coach to correct you LOL great communication between you both. We call the overhead shot a smash in the UK so learnt something different everyday. Didn't know or not notice the scissor kick and love how easy you both explained it and preformed it. Great footwork which is obviously down to the thousands of hours play and training you have done. I have young lady take runs in a forward motion towards the back of the court at same time as looking at the incoming ball and she as a good smash. I will use this information in my coaching thank you Venus and Eric
