    Another fabulous report. "Soulless' Heard the same about the new A45. I think I will keep my current Golf R 7.5 and wait for the Mk 8 R or the new A3.

      Thanks, Bryan. Don’t get me wrong - the A35 is crushingly effective, and on objective measures it is the best hatch in its category at this point (Golf R/S3/M135i), but there’s just a slight character deficit. I’ll wait to make a call on the A45 until I’ve driven it - by all accounts it also looks like an impressive machine.

    Nice car but expensive for what it is - I’d take a manual mustang and a fuel card for more engagement - I’d take S3 sedan over this if were forced to go this route - here’s to 50k subscribers very soon as you all deserve it as a great channel

      Good point. The standard seats look basically like the A250 'coffin' seat, which you can see either in our review of the A250 (ruclips.net/video/x-wg74Bd2uU/видео.html) or by going onto the Mercedes-Benz configurator for your market and selecting the A35.

    I test drove the S3, the BMW 135 and the golf R - this car just creamed them on all fronts in my view. I have the adjustable suspension and run the comfort option in my Individual setting. The BMW 135i is ugly - has a great motor, the S3. Is old ergonomics and inferior ad the Golf R - well waiting waiting etc. I did not get that bloody rear wing but all t he other bits stayed. Had to have another spoiler fitted. A brilliant car without having 400 hp A45 rocket ship - which you can’t used 99% of the time.

    Good work Tom. Another stellar review.
    Love the white with the black wheels and I would love it even more if the interior was white and black instead of red and black. And please get rid of that piano black around the air vents, it looks cheap.
    It’s not elegant. It is racer.
    I think A35 over A45S. But did you find it to be droning inside the cabin ?
    When the GLB comes can you please do a review of that. I would love to hear your opinion if that is the best MB SUV to date.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  4 года назад

      Thanks, Michael. The A35 was a little noisy in the cabin over coarse chip but in a car like this on fairly serious tyres you expect it. I am also looking forward to testing the GLB.

  • @erwinlutz1772
    @erwinlutz1772 4 года назад +1

    While the A35 is a nice looking car I just don't think it delivers as a value proposition. What's the point of it when there's the A45 just around the corner for around 100k. Also there's more bang for your bucks coming from VW Golf R, Audi S3, or BMW M135 if you really must have Euro badge -

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  4 года назад +2

      Makes more sense without options at $69k - the A45 is $94k after all. But without options it loses some of that luxe sheen inside!

      @@chasingcars Actually the CoupeLine A class uses a different Chassis floorpan, and the distance between wheel centers is longer. Personally i find they are not as nimble as a regular A class. There is not alot in it, but they dont drive the same.

    Why would you fork out for this over a low km C43?

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  4 года назад +2

      Good question. If interior quality and tech is the goal I’d buy the A35. If more classic sports sedan/wagon dynamics are your priority the C43 makes sense. Ultimately I’d probably split the difference and go a new 330i.

    How is the road noise/engine drone for long-distance commuting on freeways?

    • @chasingcars

    Not particularly quick. I have a A45 FL, and also a A220d AMG FL. Ive had 2 races against a A35 in my A220d 2.2, and it was completely level, nothing in it. So they are no quicker than a 2.2 diesel. Not very impressive.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  4 года назад +2

      Given the A35 is capable of 0-100km/h in 4.7s and the A220d can do the same sprint in 8.2s, I dare say the ‘35’ drivers weren’t getting the boot into it...
