I’ve got a M140i and absolutely love it, however I can’t deny Mercedes AMG is at the top right now. Every car they bring out is a hit. I’d be really interested in the new A45 and if this A35 is anything to go on it will be another hit.
keep that m140i and put a m sport diff in it

Gas Pedal Subscribe yup both would be a more fun drive. The a35 would be quite nice to live with daily though and in winter

Petrolheadish I just specc’d one up with the optional Dampers, Premium Plus pack (the top trim available) and connectivity pack for under £40k.
Calvin Orr base price is actually £34,350

Get a approved BMW M140I shadow edition currently available for around £28k (340HP, 500NM, 0-60 4.6) better value and sounds way better
And You can have it with manual gearbox :)
340hp and only 0.1 second faster? Yeah great value lol. Btw a car is much more than a 0-60 time and in terms of the interior the bmw is far behind xD

Paused it 50% through, not one word on this car and if it is good or bad yet. Loads on the old car and the Fous RS though.
In France, this car is 10k€ cheaper than the audi S3... and I think I prefer this one !

As a 1 series owner I shouldn't like this but I kinda of do. Still prefer RWD but since BMW are ditching it in the one I'll have to get used to AWD hatches
A class hatch always looked a bit odd to me, prefer the saloon version.
CLA makes the saloon look retarted.
The best hot hatch from previous years was the rs3

Should of had 325-335hpninstead of 302.
If it really wants to beat contenders like the golf r (330hp in clubsport trim) , audi s3 (305hp) , megane rs ( 300hp)
Focus rs ( 350 hp) , bmw m240i ( 328hp) ....
Interestingly the car he’s driving has the optional 19” wheels and night pack with no spoiler, but in the UK you have to have the chavvy aero pack in Order to have the larger wheels - annoying!
So is it all wheel drive when u want it to be or is that just a thing that kicks in when the from wheels lose traction

And this one probably won't quickly make it to the US market, either. Bought a Golf R in '15 because the A45 and RS3 couldn't be had here, and the Focus RS is so juvenile/cheap feeling.
Review great but missing 0-60 time and Top speed. Also it would be nice to hear the exhaust all the downshift pops and crackles

NICE hatch, Old S3 and Golf R are less expensive for the same performance
The S3 and RS3 are pigs.. great in straight line but horrid understeer at all times.. look up Chris Harris' video don't take my word
For sheer performance no small hatch comes close to the A45, but I'd still have an M2 or even an M240i/M140i over it
Stefan Petrov If hooned around a track, then yeah they understeer at the limit. Appeals to a different buyer. I’m not hating on BMW at all and love the M2, but understeer at the limit doesn’t ruin the RS3 completely. They’ve come a long way from older gens (that Harris is reviewing), and are pretty much neutral on the road where 99.9% of drivers will keep them. Just seems a bit unfair to totally discredit them on that basis alone.

Just remember you’re payment exec-segment prices for a B segment car, and that B-segment car is built to make money on its base model. These are extortionate cars but people are lapping them up! It’s these over-arching ‘pinnacle’ models in the range are there to sell the lower ones and also to bump their prices up.
On top of that the number of driving modes means it’s basically digital management of the car literally between corners, can’t the engineers just design a passive system that actually works? Oh no wait, it’s the digital system they plug in to the basic models to make them seem developed for the price they are selling them at...

The new a45 going to have over 400bhp that’s incredible for a stock everyday car like that I remember the days where Subaru’s and evos were fast with around 280-300hp

Modern hot hatches don’t interest me anymore, sure that have lots of power and are fast but they are just boring. Gone are the days where they had different engine configurations, now they are just 2 litre 4 pot turbo and its rather boring. No longer are hot hatches really all that affordable which is sort of the point of a hot hatch.
This or M140i?
Couldn't make my mind up on these so I've ordered and s3 instead. Some angles it looks great and others it looks horrible really not a fan of the back

I know these cars are all about pedal to the metal and so on.
But why does this bloke only drive on picturesque country roads like in a TV commercial? What's the car like where people actually drive - like in a busy town? Will it behave like a ballerina in a close parking spot when you have to climb a kerbstone?
Now I can just guess what it might be like to rent for a day trip in Tuscany or on Mallorca...
Pay all that money and it looks like a normal A Class AMG line. Crazy bodywork should be shared with the A35 not just reserved for the A45.
You can order it with the aero package which has agressive, wing/difuser and front bumper.
There's a bodykit package you're able to option on it.
The Truth no you can get amg line cars that aren’t amg. Same as Audi’s s line etc

Would still prefer a BMW M140i... as long as its available, it should the only choice of any serious car enthousiast for a hatch. Nicely balanced and throttle ajdustable chassis with 6 cylinder music over fancy gadgets and screen please.

Agreed. I drive my wife’s s3 sport back and then my rs3 and the saloon is so much nicer, quicker to drive but sound wise they are massive leagues apart
Yep, turbo 4’s really are boring, even putting an after market exhaust on doesn’t really help as they don’t sound great, they have no nice tone. My jdm ep3 is nowhere near as fast as modern hot hatches but so much more enjoyable to drive
