Biggie’s ‘life after death’ was released March 25, 1997. Just sixteen (16) days after he was killed. So so sad, Biggie is so very missed ❤️ Also, the guys of Bone Thugs n’ Harmony didn’t get to hear Big’s verse until after he died and his album was released.
“Life after death” was a double album because about six months before his death Big, Lil’ Cease, and Charli Baltimore (a female rapper Big was dating when he died) were in a really bad car accident. Cease lost control of a rental car in the rain and the car spun out onto the other side of the highway and flipped several times. Cease (was driving) lost most of, if not all of his front teeth from smashing his mouth into the steering wheel and was thrown out of the car. Charli was partially thrown out of the car, she landed on the hood with a head injury which split her scalp open and a huge flap was hanging (they were able to stitch it up but she said if she ever had to shave her head, that it is a very large and nasty looking scar, but she thankfully was okay, no brain damage) and Big was front seat passenger and his leg got crushed under the dash board and they had to use the jaws of life to get him out. Big’s leg was broken in several places and he had to stay in the hospital/rehabilitation unit after having surgery to place plates & screws to fix his leg. So in that two months of doing physical therapy after surgery he just wrote and wrote. Big’s leg was still messed up when he was in California (before his death) and that is why he walked with a cane. Some Cali people were irritated by it thinking he was using it to look like a pimp or something because they didn’t know he had been in an accident. I don’t think any of his family, friends, or fans would want Big to be in a nasty car accident like he was, but it always made me think, what if he hadn’t been in the accident!?! ‘Life after death’ would’ve been a regular 10ish song album and he would’ve died before we heard some of the most amazing and classic Biggie songs!
-some of Big’s people said the accident happened 24-48 hours after Big found out Tupac died. That Big was really upset over his death and was smoking and acting the fool, and ended up getting arrested and their vehicle towed. The car they got out of the tow impound was messed up so they took it to the dealer to be fixed and was given the rental (that they ended up crashing) to drive in the meantime.

Regarding Bone Thugs, it's crazy to me how some of the best flowing rappers ever came together at the same time in Cleveland and while they've influenced lots of rappers, it's never been close to duplicated.

I mean to be real, their flows were originally inspired (some might say copied) by Memphis Rappers. They been doing that stuff years before Bone Thugs, there was a whole beef about this topic at the time. Look up "Thuggish Ruggish Bustaz" for example by Tommy Wright
No disrespect, they took Hip Hop and its sound to a whole next level, but lets also give respect where it's due.
