another one that is kind of crazy and rare: If a player receives a yellow or red card in a match and the match has to be repeated for some reason that card still counts for the player. In Germany this happened a while ago when a player was sent off with a red card and later the game had to be stopped and dfb decided to have them replay the entire game. The game was then repeated with 11 vs 11, but the player who received the red card still got a suspension for some games due to his foul. The official reasoning was that yellow and red cards are personal penalties for the players and looked at individaully and not in connection to the game the player received them in.
In the 90's a game between Rangers and Hearts in the Scottish Premier League, Hearts had 4 players sent off. Even their manager was sent off and made to sit in the stands.

Here's a bonus weird rule that I had no idea about until I took the refereeing course: Yellow cards during the match dont count for penalty shoot-outs, meaning if you get a yellow card during the game and a second yellow card during the penalty shoot-out you dont get a red card
Thats intresting. How about when you get 1 in game and 2 in penalty shoot-outs? You wil get red card and enemy team need to exlude one player or you can get as many yellow cards as you want? If first, what happends when your team has less than 7 players, lose automaticly before/during penalty shoots or teams will shoots with 6 or less players?
In a game i played in i was taking a throw in just outside the oppositions penalty box. I was aiming for our centre forward on the six yd box, completely missed him and the throw went directly into the far top corner! No goal of course but a decent effort,
I remember a match between Portugal and Angola that had 4 Angolan players sent off. They then faked an injury in the second half (after all substitutions were done) so they would have less than 7 players on the pitch and thus end the game, because there wasn't any point in carrying on. The weirdest part? The match was a friendly!
In an Argentinian game between Boca Juniors and Racing club, 5 Boca Juniors players were sent off and 2 Racing Club players were sent off. 1 for each team were sent off at the end of the 90 minutes, so was the Boca manager. Racing club won the game late on then a massive brawl just started in which the goalscorer got sent off, a Racing Club substitute, 3 more Boca players and 2 Boca substitutes.
Predictions: 1. I reckon the rule that you can't directly score a throw-in. If you throw the ball in and it lands straight in the opponent's goal, it's a goal-kick. No goal has been scored. 2. If the ball is passed back to the keeper by a defender and he picks it up (inside the penalty box), it's an indirect free-kick to the other team. 3. Opposing teams' shirt colours are allowed to clash but their shorts mustn't.

In a single game the most red cards given have been 5, although not all to the same team. both in '97 Bristol Rovers v Wigan Athletic and Chesterfield v Plymouth Argyle.
As an former FIFA player I knew the rule about the minimum of 7 players already. In case I was losing like 5-0 or 6-0 I just tried to get as much red cards as possible, so if the game couldn't continue the match was worth as "just" a 3-0 lose 🤣
There was a 5 red cards incident in Turkish Super League in 2004 by Beşiktaş. The score at the time was 1-4 against Beşiktaş. After their 5th red card, the match stopped and was ruled as 0-4 for Samsunspor. As far as i know they hold the record for this shame in our league :D
Fun fact: Yellow & Red Cards stay valid on the player that received them for a certain number of matches. The amount of matches a team has to play for the sanctions on their sanctioned players to be reset is individual for each fault, and depends on the severity of the fault and the personal criteria of the referee who assigned it. There have been cases of players getting sanctioned for DOZENS of matches in a single Red Card, but it has only happened on extreme cases where the fault was so violent and unjustified that the livelihoods of several other players, or even of the referees themselves, were - or could have been - compromised as a result.

I guess today the game would be considered 3x0, but that rule didnt existed back them.
Duncan Ferguson, whilst playing for Rangers, head-butted Raith Rovers John McStay during the match. This didnt get him a card at the time, but resulted in a 3 month prison term (he ended up serving 44 days). He remains the only player to receive a custodial sentence for an incident which happened on the pitch. Claudio Caniggia received a red card for cursing at the ref whilst on the bench for Argentina, and was the first player to be sent off from the bench at the World Cup.
Having a team to follow really helps your enjoyment of the games instead of just the appreciation for the athleticism, as you know as an American. I'll jump in with the people recommending FIFA Game. You already know, these modern sports games teach you so much. Maybe start a dynasty mode at the bottom of the English leagues for wherever you're located. Take them up the ladder to the UEFA Cup. UEFA Cup is what you want to really get in to. That's the best of the best. Like top 2 to 3 from SEC, Big 12, Big 10, PAC, ACC, and having a round robin, then a tournament. Apart from all that, the World Cup is every 4 years, as is "The Euro" European countries only cup also every 4 years, half way between World Cups, like the Winter Olympics. Enjoyed the reactions. I know a guy that had four red cards in one game...and was the goalie to boot... He didn't care about his teammates as much as he did in someone ticking him off... Sure he stuck up for the team...but the way he did it a actually got him banned from that league... The craziest thing I witnessed was the only goal to be scored by a keeper in the league's history... There were 30 mph winds to his back and somehow the ball went in the net after hitting a cross wind that fooled the other goalie... Even funnier...he got a yellow card for audibly swearing to the ref and all he said was (paraphrased by yours truly)..."WOW ref...did you see that effing ball sail???"... It was the first time I ever saw the guy smile...and how he became one of my friends still remains a mystery... He wanted to play hockey and couldn't skate...and chose US soccer instead but kept the 80s brand of hockey while he played... I believe that goalie is now a professional wrestler...if he hasn't retired by now... If I divulged his name... he'd hunt me down and would end me...😹😹😹

another one that is kind of crazy and rare: If a player receives a yellow or red card in a match and the match has to be repeated for some reason that card still counts for the player.
5:14 I guess there was ulm vs rostock in the german bundesliga in the 80s or 90s, where 4 players and also the coach and manager of ulm got sent off
In the 90's a game between Rangers and Hearts in the Scottish Premier League, Hearts had 4 players sent off. Even their manager was sent off and made to sit in the stands.
I played a youth league game as a kid where we only had 7 players due to injuries. I ended up getting tackled hard and the coach and ref had me decide between continuing to play or forfeiting the game. I kept playing, we drew
Look up the Battle of Bramall Lane Sheffield United v WBA 2002. WBA were winning 3-0 when Robert Ullathorne, who went off injured in the 82nd minute suffering with muscle spasms,[ and reducing the team to six men. Sheff Utd were before that down to 7 players and this reduced them to 6 forcing the referee to abandon the game. The game was eventually awarded to WBA with a 3-0 result.
#05:00 it happened in Turkish League. Team called Beşiktaş got 5 red cards. So match automaticaly ended and other team won the game. (i you got 5 cards match ends and other team wins. Doesnt matter how much score you have)
In Argentina there was 10 red cards in a game between Boca juniors and Racing. You should check it out
In Argentina, a supercup match ended early with Racing Club winning, because Boca Juniors had less than 7 players on the pitch
video commentator said "There's no tactical reason for the attacking players to be in the wall" well what about having a player there to disrupt the wall when the kicks taken, or to move out of the way creating a hole when the kick is taken.. there's multiple tactical reasons to do it.
Here's a bonus weird rule that I had no idea about until I took the refereeing course:
Yellow cards during the match dont count for penalty shoot-outs, meaning if you get a yellow card during the game and a second yellow card during the penalty shoot-out you dont get a red card
Another Boca player was sent off for a second yellow 10 minutes into extra time. Racing club won the game late on then a massive brawl just started in which the goalscorer got sent off, a Racing Club substitute, 3 more Boca players and 2 Boca substitutes.
Predictions:
Manchester United VS Fulham on Sunday FA cup game Fulham had 2 players sent off plus the manager in 90 seconds it's was madness
I've lived in 2 parts of the UK and I'm born and raised here. Here are some slang words I've come across I'd like to see if you could try to understand...
1. Knackered
2. leng
3. Bairn
4. Butters
5. Nowt
6. Haway (not sure if that's spelled right)
7. Melt
8. Nutter
9. Peak
10. Clapped
4:58 latest man u vs fulham game was a close call.
also watch 2006 netherlands vs portugal. that was card carnage, but most cards were fair
You should watch "the battle of nurmberg". It was one of the most violent football matches in a european tournament between the Netherlands and Portugal. Not sure if it i copyrighted or not, but it is worth a watch never the less. Great content my guy, keep it up!
And I love it when a manager gets sent off! The funniest thing ever!
3:40
Zinedine Zidane...
the guy in blue said something bad about his mother or sister im not sure anymore.
but i can remember i was laughing so hard at the guy on the ground not coming back up.
you dont fuck with legends bc they chew you up and spit you out.
Yesterday(12th of february of 2024) Peñarol vs Liverpool took place for the semifinals of the Uruguayan Cup. 4 players from liverpool were kicked off and 1 from peñarol, leaving a 7 v 10 scenario. Also a player from liverpool got a red card from the bench. It was a mesy game, Peñarol won 3-1.
5:05 ... i remember saw a match with 7plyrs vs 9 plyrs... jajajaj
5:02
Besiktas Istanbul vs Samsunsspor
There was a 5 red cards incident in Turkish Super League in 2004 by Beşiktaş. The score at the time was 1-4 against Beşiktaş. After their 5th red card, the match stopped and was ruled as 0-4 for Samsunspor. As far as i know they hold the record for this shame in our league :D
4:16 if a team starts with 10 or fewer players and a player arrives late, he can join yhe game as soon as the referee allows him to come in
the 4 reds for example happened at rostock-ulm in the bundesliga in 1999
Fun fact: Yellow & Red Cards stay valid on the player that received them for a certain number of matches.
Ther's a game in Brazil between Nautico and Grêmio that Grêmio has 4 players with red cards and still won the game.
I just got into Premier League this past season and I’m firmly an Arsenal supporter. Fun seeing you learn this stuff because that was me not too long ago. Dope stuff man.
JT Quote: "I can honestly say, I have never in my entire life, (and I don't think I really plan on doing it either,) getting excited sitting down and watching a soccer match" - Eat Your Words!
There was 3 red cards in 1 minute in the United vs Fulham game the other day
But one of the red cards was for the manager
You can also get cards if you delay the game as it is unfair. Imagine the last minutes of the game and it's a close 2-1 for your team. You get a throw in, but it takes like forever to throw the ball as time is running up for the other team. If it takes too long, you get a card!
and the ref normally will allow an extra 20 or so seconds on top of the extra time to compensate the other team....
In 1996 in a game in Scotland, Hearts v Rangers, Hearts had 4 players sent off so one more would have seen the game abandoned.
ATLETICO MADRID - OSASUNA in 2007 saw 4 Osasuna players sent off
Check South American football for silly amounts of sending offs 😂
He feels like is rare to get red cards... clearly he never heard about the battle of Nuremberg in 06 😂
I'm a football referee and my last match I reffed the opposing team started with only 7 players due to injury and illness (away team) . The scoreline finished 11-1 to the home team.
Poor guys
Wait tf how did the home team concede
@@makenziestancer146 the team that only had 7 players had 1 player who was giving 1000% and she just kept attacking the goal everytime they got the ball and eventually she put one in the back of the net from open play. I have huge admiration for her dedication and commitment to doing her role as a winger.
@@Abt_offical fair play too her then sounds like it would've been fun af to watch
@@makenziestancer146 it was to be fair. I was surprised she scored but I was so happy for her too. Great game. All my games were good to watch tbf
Maybe do a reaction video to where football stadiums were featured in a movie/TV show
You mentioned something about scoring against your own team, yes I did that too actually in an official tournament in front of a large crowd it was embarrassing moment my friends were occasionally teasing me with that after several years. Thanks for refreshing the good memories 🥺😂
Your football (fútbol) videos are fire bro 🔥 you should react to the best goals of all time next they got some amazing goals in there 👊🏼
São Paulo 1 x Cruzeiro 1995.
Cruzeiro got 4 players sent off at the end of first half, after an hard tackle of São Paulo defender (the first kicked his face on return and the others were sent off on the confusion).
Just After the interval 1 played injured (many say it was an fake injury in order to end the match).
As it was a playoff Cruzeiro managed to revert the score on the second game, what would nor happen if the game ended up for instance 5x0 on the potential massacre of an 11x7 for an whole half.
Atlético-MG x Flamegno 1981, the game had to be stopped after the 5th player was sent off.
JT reacts, what is your opinion on the uk transport system?
I knew most of these rules, but then again I'm a certified linesman
Check Netherlands Vs Spain 2010, or South Korea - Italy in 2002....one is the most violent, the second is the most bizarre
Play FIFA.
Just came from your vid reacting to football explained, glad to see you're still watching :) very enjoyable to see. Have you chosen a team to support yet?
We played once against a team with 7 players at the start, and their goal was to get a red card as soon as possible to end the game so that we couldn't score as many goals to build our goal difference in league
Hey JT, if you want to check, France vs Poland in U18 category. France received 4 red cards during the game. So the referee stopped the game and awarded the victory to Poland 0-3
The penalty rule is in your advantage. You can kick the player who is worst in penalties out of the lineup and only kick with the best ones
I watched the Manchester United against Fulham last night and Fulham where winning 1-0, until Fulham played a hand ball and a player from the Fulham team had squared up to the ref, meaning 2 players and the manager from Fulham where sent off. Manchester won.... its a fickle game.
I'm a united fan, but United did not deserve the win, Fulham were the better team for 70 minutes, UNited's defence wasn't there. If Fulham had not imploded they still could have won with 10 men or at least made it to penalties
@Hareecio Nelson I do completely agree, but they let themselves down. Its A shame really.... because Fulham was fantastic in the first 3 quarters of the game..
There was a player Batistuta in Italy early 2000 he shot so strong he broke 2 or 3 balls that season
in Portugal theree was a team starting with 7 players.
and when I was kid we tied a game beggining with 7 players and finishing with 10 because our teammates were arriving during the game! xd
I'm glad that I knew all of these rules except the ball popping or going fiat
Another one Timer does not stop for anything other than half and game-ending whistles unlike most of other sports. There is instead extension added after each half.
Actually, just last year it was declared as a rule that the goalkeeper had to have both feet in the white line of the goal for the goal to count, so, no dancing around or jumping
The multiple red card rule actually happened once.
Sheffield United were losing and got the match called off by getting 5 players sent off. Cheating springs to mind.
That's why Sheffield Wednesday are the peoples choice of football team to support.
it’s a shame they’re shite
Wasn't that against West Brom? I think the score still counted though and WBA got the 3points. Battle of Brammell Lane they called it, I remember hearing about it on MOTD.
WAWAW!?
I caught the end of a game the other day, and I am sure they talked about one of the team scoring and own goal and it being allowed........
do more football reactions 🔥
It's crazy that I've been a fanatic football fan for like ever, and even I didn't know some of these rules, like you can't score own goal in free kicks.
Yes watch battle of bramall lane. Sheff Utd v WBA. Game got abandoned due to red cards and injuries.
I like ur futbol reactions !!
There was a game in Australia that had 26 red cards
Yeah but at 02:29, it was Roy Keane in the Tunnel, to be fair!
A video I think you should watch is best ‘limbs’ in football. It shows how much some goals mean to the fans when it is scored.
Please react to Ronaldinho. There are 3 great "ronaldos", Ronaldo "Fenômeno", Ronaldinho Gaúcho "O Bruxo" and Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldinho played in Barcelona before Messi and teached him a lot, there are some great videos about him.
Watch the football factory. It a movie about football hooliganism and it also started a documentary series called the real football factory
You should watch the brazilian serie A next month, it's worth it
JT you should try playing soccer you learn more that way also play it quite fun
1:15 yes but referees can use the power of common sense and give the goal if the condition of the ball didnt matter when it went in (i.g. didnt touch anything or have a unexpected trajectory)
You're doing a great job learning about football
If I divulged his name... he'd hunt me down and would end me...😹😹😹
Richarlison has experienced the second rule quite a few times😂
There was a rangers legend an ex-player called Paul Gascoigne (Gazza) who once booked the referee and then immediately got booked himself. I managed to find a clip of this on RUclips and what had happened was the ref had dropped his yellow card and Gascoigne showed it to the ref as he was handing it back. The game was in 1995 against Hibs. It was supposed to be a joke and it is honestly something I didn't know you could get booked for and it's not a rule but maybe booking the ref is a bad idea.
That would come under "Unsporting Behaviour" which is actual the official offence 80% of yellow cards are recorded as.
