can you really call it an accident when irwins foot was a more than 12 inches off the ground and wouldn't connect with the ball in his wildest dreams ? and to claim he was distressed is some weird denial, while shmeichel was puking his guts up irwin casually walked away like it was nothing. a couple of the other utd. players were indeed in some states of distress but not so dennis. to me it looked like some sort of retribution but i have no idea why, but accident ?? no.

These are brutal. But I remember another one. In 1990 England against Sweden in the world cup qualifiers Was a player named Terry butcher on the English team. He got a head injury from a Swedish player (name I don't know) so hard that he had a whole wound. Despite the injuries he refused being subbed off and continued playing instead. He lost 1 liter of blood that day.
No no, as a Belgian who loved our Golden Generation and Axl Witsel I have to say that breaking Wasilewski's leg was purely intentional. Wasilewski made 2 fauls on Witsel earlier in the match and if you watch the video you can see Wistel twists his hip as he hits the leg, which is a clear sign of intent to maximize the force of his kick and the damage. Wasilewski never played again and to this day has 9 screws and a metal plate in his calf.
If there's one phrase I hate is "Swallowed his tongue". If someone is unconscious, all your muscles go limp (barring automated ones like heart, diaphragm). The tongue is a muscle so if you are unconscious and on your back, it goes limp and slides to the back of your throat and blocks your airway.
JT, football boots had six screw in metal studs, we played football with them as children, they were much better than the plastic studs available. I think Schumacher caught batiston with the hip. The foul by Souness, not many people got on the wrong side of Graeme without feeling the result.
I was at his league debut for Rangers @ Hibs and he done the exact same tackle on George Mcluskey and got a straight red. As a Rangers fan even I thought it was brutal. I think he got harder after playing for Sampdoria in Serie A.
They still use aluminium studs in rugby for the most part - They are usually checked by the ref before the game to show they are not sharp in anyway. Plastic studs can actually be more dangerous as they can get sharp edges much easier.
well, rugby destroys fields so that makes sense. also, most rugby teams are semiprofessionals since they don't have that many sponsors. argentina is one of the best teams and last time I checked they had to pay for most of their gear so it only makes sense they can't use a new pair of boots every 3 matches like the average football professional
8:46 if you were wondering what the photos looked like, the player’s thigh bone was shown and the muscle was shown. I searched it up and warning, gore/blood,” bielefeld and bremen thigh injury”.
A few more to check out Kevin Muscat (take your pick but his red card in the Melbourne Derby sticks out) Pepe v Getafe Diego Costa (just in general) Luis Suarez (the bites on Ivanovic & Chiellini) John Lundstram tackle on Alistair Johnston Foul on Scott Brown for Celtic v Aberdeen Paul Bosvelt on Dennis Irwin Michael Brown on Ryan Giggs Kevin Nolan on Victor Anichebe Also if you want to see a fair tackle that launches a man into orbit Jozo Simunovic on Kenny Miller.
He’s right though. Engaging with the hip first has been the most dangerous foul ever committed. A high cervical fracture would likely have lead to this guy being completely paralysed and likely dying on the field as he can’t breathe… In that context the booty or hip is not fun at all. It can carry the centre of mass and thus the highest impact
The pronounciation by the commentator is just downright comical, I should be going 'ooh' or 'argh' because of the injuries but I was just giggling like a little schoolgirl
Reminds me of a couple of local pub league footie matches, my local village team had one of it's players get his leg broken by a player on the opposing team from Glasgow, when he was eventually able to play again, Their opponents were the same team from Glasgow, and the same player who'd broken the leg the last game again broke the poor sod's leg again. For Vicious English Footballers try looking up Vinnie Jones, who is purported to be the English Premier Leagues dirtiest player.
Just a small addition. After that bad foul, Maradona lost 30% of his ankle mobility and despite this he is considered by almost everyone to be the best ever. Ps. The defender who made that bad foul was nicknamed "The Butcher of Bilbao"
I grew up a Stoke fan and everyone hated us for our incredibly physical style of play that led to things like the Shawcross Ramsey incident. Wenger hated us for more than just that, though - he tried to get the rules of the game changed because of the Delap throw ins!
Running at someone at full speed with no protection at all other than the useless shin guards... is a roll of the dice every time, most of my childhood friends or family members who had broken bones at one point, was due to a soccer injury... and I never gave it much thought until now LOL.
6:37 the reason he pinched his ear is because if he kicked or shoved him he probably would’ve gotten sent off, the coach is part of the team so they can also get yellow and red carss
The pronunciation of some of the teams and players names are hilarious 😂😂😂😂 Also try and find sunday league football fouls, so much more aggressive and funny.
we need to mention the Marcelo from Fluminense foul against Argentinos Juniors, the same Marcelo from Real Madrid, after making a dribble, he tries to steady his foot on the ground and accidentaly steps on the player leg, making it to break and bend in an L format, one of if not the most brutal foul in football history, and it was an accident.
I've seen players knocked out, legs folded in half on a cold sunday morning 😂. In fact our striker had both legs broken that bad from a keeper he never played again. He got sent to prison because he attcked him while celebrating a goal.
Fek, thats brutal. Ive seen plenty too and felt some. Fortunately not too bad on me. I remember when we went out. I was 18 or 19 at the time and at that time not playing, but there had been a match and a guy broke his leg. And you could hear it snap really loud. So they kept playing it regularly in the disco for months, bc they thought it was fun. My injuries kept to soar ribs and blue nails and ofc sprained ankles every now and then. And 1 tooth missing, but that was volleyball. ;]
Ahhh the wonderful memories of hungover, Sunday morning football. Broken glass, dog shit and revenge late tackles. Playing on frozen pitches was the highlight. All those open wound injuries from sliding tackles. Happy days!
7:27 sorry to say that, baut it was more the defender owne fould. (70/30) Because he went in with also a brutal slide and he even trie to not get hit from the defender.
13:40 also has a fun backstory to it that most Germans and Frenchmen know of. Batiston fully recovered, so we can kind of say it is funny now. However, after putting him in a literal coma and knocking out his teeth AND injuring his spine, Schumacher gave an interview after the match (when asked about the incident): "Yeah, he can stop whining. I'll pay for his jacket crowns." He was known for being one of the craziest goalies to ever play for Germany.
"Whose idea was it to wear metal" Well, you'd be shocked how hard it is to actually keep a grip on the grass at the speeds those guys can run at. They really didn't have much of an option, they needed something to make sure they wouldn't slide all over the place, because that was actually even MORE dangerous. Of course the invention of modern boots was far away back then.
When I was a kid, I had a pair of cleats that had metal studs, the studs were screwed on so you could replace them with different studs... we all thought they were the coolest thing ever.
M8, dont let anyone ever tell you that football is not a contact sport. It is THE sport that has most injuries. For one, they have no protection whatsoever. And indeed, the 'spikes' on the shoes can be pretty awfull. I remember that match and injurie. It was a 20 cm (8 inches) long, deep gaping fleshwound. Those spikes btw arent sharp at all. They are about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch studs. But since they are hard and protrude, they can cause pretty serious wounds. However, it is pretty rare that it are these that cause the injuries. Most serious injuries actually are torn ligaments, and mostly not bc of full contact. Ankles and knees mostly. Had it 3 or 4 times myself bc of football and a couple of times bc of landing badly (on someones foot) while playing volleyball. But ive seen them all in football. From broken legs (usually from a brutal sliding tackle with stretched leg. Which is for that reason not allowed anymore. Changed also end 80ies, early 90ies i think), to head collisions, with concussions, big bleeders, etc. A couple of things: Before the rules changed, again, end 80ies, early 90ies i believe, the injuries were much more often and more severe. I remember Neeskens playing for NL world cup final in 74 i believe. He had a broken nose and 1 testicle had been kicked into his abdomen. He played on till the end. Cruyff, from early on had to learn to jump frequenty. We used to say he had eyes in his back. He felt when such a tackle was coming, even from behind. That was still allowed back then. Not anymore. And as for threats; Cruyff didnt go to the next world cup, 78, where we also got to the final, bc his family was threatened. Some players were actually killed, bc people thought they played bad at world cup. That was in South America. And thats the things you see and hear about. But i can speak from experience and even at regional competition, there are always those guys that are out to hurt you, so you dont outrun them or make some nice move and pass them. They kick from behind to your ankles, deliberately step full force on your toes, when the ball isnt even around and so the referee doesnt see it. Tnen if you dont break a toe, youll at least have some blue nails. And those nails will come off, etc. I dont remember how many elbows i got in my ribs. Even at 53 playing. ;] Not a contact sport??? thats funny ;] Its SO bad even, that since employers started to meddle with employees health in a broad sense, so from the 80ies somewhere, they advise people to do sports. But not football ! Oh no! Too much downtime when people do football. Its that 'friendly'. Usually btw it are the defenders that are this brutal. And they more or less have to. It is after all they that get the evil look, when someone passes them and scores. So if they arent fast enough, or a striker or smth is too handy with the ball, they have only force left to stop them. That can be a body check, but if they evade that too, or keep going anyway, they often go for the more rigorous means of stopping someone. It is for that reason that strikers and other attackers need special skills, apart from ball handling. Bc if they dont have that, they wont last long... As i said, Cruyff had some 6th sense and miraculously usually knew when to jump up, even if the danger was coming from behind. But i also remember Bergkamp, who was a pretty sweet guy, but when he went to play in the premier league, he got more physically strong, heavier and learned how to dish out aswell. You dont see many small strikers anymore, for that reason. Now, consider that when you are smaller, less weight, you can turn faster, bc there is less mass to change movement on. Thats the sole reason why small players are often good at dribbling, passing moves and so. But they are easily body checked and well, break faster you could say. Maradonna was small, not extremely light. Cruyff was light. and so on. In modern times, Messi. Hes also a bit of an exception. But it has lead to a load of much bigger strikers, such as Ronaldo, Ibrahimovitch, Kluivert in the 90ies, and so on. Much bigger and muscular. They cant turn on a dime, but they also cant be body checked well and are more sturdy. Obviously they are also better for headers. Small guys actually should injure less fast, were it not for the tackles and so. Shorter way down from head to ground, less mass, so less chance of injuries for that reason. But its still brutal on strikers. Bc a striker that doesnt score, well that can happen. Maybe he didnt get much. Maybe he had an off day and everyone can miss. But defenders sole task is to stop attackers. If they fail, there is a high chance of a goal. And thats not a thing they get a raise for. Over the decades the game has actually improved a lot. A lot of things that were previously allowed and lead to many injuries, are now forbidden. They still happen, but its usually an instant yellow or red card. So that keeps it in check a bit. Its still pretty brutal though.
Oh i forgot to say: These fouls? All those where a player is looking forward as he goes in, are deliberate. You KNOW if you are too late and if you go on anyway, you KNOW you are going for the player and NOT for the ball. There is NO excuse. Same as that hockey player the other day that murdered that player with his kick, cutting his throat. Thats deliberate. You KNOW what will happen. Not saying it was deliberate in taking the guys life, but he sure meant to hurt him. You KNOW when you are going to hit someone and how you are going to hit. Again, if you are facing that way, or know that other player is there.
Ewald Lienen, the guy at around 9:20 comes from an area close to where I live. His entire thigh was cut open, you could see the bone underneath the muscle. p.s.: worst pronunciation of German clubs and players names I have heard in a long time :)
Here's the most shocking fact about the Butcher ... he kept the boots he wore that day when he broke Maradona's ankle and had them encased in glass like a museum piece :) He was proud of that tackle!
Also an important thing to know that most player's "boots" or shoes have metal studs on the bottom. And they can really really hurt even from slight contact when two players are moving around 20 mph.
My worst i jury was when i got slid and i lost balance and twisted my ankle which made me rupture my ligament, i also broke my ankle once but it wasnt football related
I did a bicycle kick in High School and kicked a dude square in the head, obviously I didn't do it on purpose and I hadn't even noticed him running towards me from behind, otherwide I wouldn't have done it, I usually only pulled that move when I didn't have anyone guarding me, but yeah, that day I kicked that poor dude so hard I knocked him out for a few seconds and I got red carded, I wasn't allowed back for 2 days. I also knocked myself out once with a bicyckle kick LOL... I was running too fast when I did it and wasn't able to control my landing... landed right on my head. so many memories lol.
Yeah that's the biggest myth about that injury. It didn't end his career at all. Keane is a cunt anyway but there's no need to make up lies about things he's done, when the things he's ACTUALLY done are bad enough.
ill explain so hey jt: He didn’t really “swallow” his tongue. his tongue actually was shallowed slightly farther down his tongue this happens when you pass out/get knocked out and when you pass out all of your nerves calm down so your tongue rests down your throat and covers your throat stopping your breathing

can you really call it an accident when irwins foot was a more than 12 inches off the ground and wouldn't connect with the ball in his wildest dreams ? and to claim he was distressed is some weird denial, while shmeichel was puking his guts up irwin casually walked away like it was nothing. a couple of the other utd. players were indeed in some states of distress but not so dennis. to me it looked like some sort of retribution but i have no idea why, but accident ?? no.
irwin and mcclair both went for the tackle and both made contact i think it was reckless but not malicous @@s4ss1n
@@s4ss1nTo be fair to Irwin, he felt it happen rather than see it. He wouldn't have as strong a reaction as Schmeichel did, who had the best seat in the house to observe Busst casually engage in some limb origami.
@@MegaShepardsPie its the way he just walks away while his own team mates at least attempt to show concern. and of all the bad asses in football, until that day i did not consider irwen one of them. but since then i can not give or acknowledge any respect to him purely on that reaction to his tackle that ended someone elses career. just disgusting behaviour that even roy did not stoop too, at least he admitted to doing bad things.
Mourinho didnt "pinch his ear", he poked Tito Vilanovas eye XD
the voiceover on the original video, pronouncing fabregas - 'Fabreegis' was the most brutal foul of them all
These are brutal.
Mad respect for this guy not calling it soccer
You should see Cisse's broken leg when he was playing for Liverpool.
But not if you're eating
I was watching MOTD with headphones on and you could hear the break 😬
I’m glad to see a fellow American appreciate this sport as much as I do.
The Schumacher faul (nr2) actually resaulted in the french player being in a coma for a while.
A few more to check out
Kevin Muscat (take your pick but his red card in the Melbourne Derby sticks out)
Pepe v Getafe
Diego Costa (just in general)
Luis Suarez (the bites on Ivanovic & Chiellini)
John Lundstram tackle on Alistair Johnston
Foul on Scott Brown for Celtic v Aberdeen
Paul Bosvelt on Dennis Irwin
Michael Brown on Ryan Giggs
Kevin Nolan on Victor Anichebe
Also if you want to see a fair tackle that launches a man into orbit Jozo Simunovic on Kenny Miller.
13:42 for some reason I died when he said “did he just knock him out with his booty cheeks?!”
Isn’t that Zealand the fm content creator commentary
Reminds me of a couple of local pub league footie matches, my local village team had one of it's players get his leg broken by a player on the opposing team from Glasgow, when he was eventually able to play again, Their opponents were the same team from Glasgow, and the same player who'd broken the leg the last game again broke the poor sod's leg again.
For Vicious English Footballers try looking up Vinnie Jones, who is purported to be the English Premier Leagues dirtiest player.
Mourinho DIDN'T pinch Vilanova's ear...he put his finger in his eye.
As an American too but growing up loving soccer you should have seen these before😂❤
Just a small addition. After that bad foul, Maradona lost 30% of his ankle mobility and despite this he is considered by almost everyone to be the best ever. Ps. The defender who made that bad foul was nicknamed "The Butcher of Bilbao"
You need to look up the Eduardo injury. It’s brutal, the only thing holding his foot in place other than his sock was skin. That’s how bad it was!!
I'll take your word and not look it up
That Gra-May Souness is a bit of a lad isn't he.
Lol
0:16 seconds in and Im thinking Roy Keane and Zlatan. Lets see.
The pronunciation of some of the teams and players names are hilarious 😂😂😂😂
Also try and find sunday league football fouls, so much more aggressive and funny.
I thought ZZ's headbutt would be on this list 😂
That wasn't brutal though, just plain stupid.
Technically, it was not a foul
@@Kyrelel Technically, according to the rules, it was both a foul as well as misconduct.
That was nothing really.
3:22 he saved messi because a bug was gonna bite him
No need to specify that it is a joke
@@danielo2541 huh
@@danielo2541 when did i say it was a joke
Exactly😊
we need to mention the Marcelo from Fluminense foul against Argentinos Juniors, the same Marcelo from Real Madrid, after making a dribble, he tries to steady his foot on the ground and accidentaly steps on the player leg, making it to break and bend in an L format, one of if not the most brutal foul in football history, and it was an accident.
Happy days!
where vinnie jones?
who narrated this video bro what are these player pronunciations 😭😭
This looks like every Sunday league I've ever played in 😂
lets gooo bro keep up the good work in there man!!!
If you think these are brutal, check out Rugby, that is on another level 😂
I remember that number 1 foul caused haalands dads career to end
7:27 sorry to say that, baut it was more the defender owne fould. (70/30) Because he went in with also a brutal slide and he even trie to not get hit from the defender.
Roy keane hit halland So hard that he had to start working a normal job🥶
finally, an american that respects and likes football and understands how hardcore it is
That bielefield faul dude literally had his leg popped up and bone was visible
when we injured ramsey, he saved so many peoples lives 😂
The injury ewald lienen had was that the opponent cutted lienen's leg and if I remember correctly you could've seen the inside of his leg😢😢
Zidan for France on his last ever match. Iconic.
And italy said thank you we will take the world cup on penalties just for payback
I'll pay for his jacket crowns."
He was known for being one of the craziest goalies to ever play for Germany.
"Whose idea was it to wear metal"
Well, you'd be shocked how hard it is to actually keep a grip on the grass at the speeds those guys can run at.
I'm so surprised the Vinnie Jones ball crush on Gazza wasn't on there somewhere, any Man can tell you just how much that would've hurt.
10:35 Arsen-ay Wenger 🤣🤣🤣
Bayern Munich vs. EyJacks Amsterdam 😂
A couple of things:
Before the rules changed, again, end 80ies, early 90ies i believe, the injuries were much more often and more severe.
Even at 53 playing. ;]
Not a contact sport???
thats funny ;]
Its SO bad even, that since employers started to meddle with employees health in a broad sense, so from the 80ies somewhere, they advise people to do sports.
Oh i forgot to say:
These fouls?
His entire thigh was cut open, you could see the bone underneath the muscle.
p.s.: worst pronunciation of German clubs and players names I have heard in a long time :)
david bust's fould is the worst as blood was spilled on the field and schmeichel vomited after seeing it
Here's the most shocking fact about the Butcher ... he kept the boots he wore that day when he broke Maradona's ankle and had them encased in glass like a museum piece :) He was proud of that tackle!
Thank you for calling it football and not soccer, I appreciate you
Finally!! An american who understands
Also an important thing to know that most player's "boots" or shoes have metal studs on the bottom. And they can really really hurt even from slight contact when two players are moving around 20 mph.
8:48 for those who dont know, his bone was out of his leg. (YES, the man "walking" in blue had his femur sticking out of his leg).
My worst i jury was when i got slid and i lost balance and twisted my ankle which made me rupture my ligament, i also broke my ankle once but it wasnt football related
7:24 😂😂😂 his face and 7:32 for broken leg
His leg😂' ,oh wait I shouldn't be laughing, On the Witsel one
There was no better feeling than pulling off a slide tackle in those metal studed boots especially when you got abit of the man too👀😂😂
Respect for calling it football not soccer
9:23 the metal studs were on the boots because back in the day the ground/pitch was flooded loads of
6:43 he didnt pinch his ear, he pinched his eye
Have you ever had your earlobe pinched? Hurts a lot 😂
Bro forgot to mention he ended Haalands dads career with that tackle😭💀
He didnt, Haaland literally finished that match and played for norway 4 days later. His carrer ended like a year after on an injury on his other knee
Yeah that's the biggest myth about that injury. It didn't end his career at all. Keane is a cunt anyway but there's no need to make up lies about things he's done, when the things he's ACTUALLY done are bad enough.
You should do a whole video on just Roy Keanes fouls. You got so many to choose from 😂
It’s funny how u can tap someone in the shin and get a straight red in this day and age
ill explain so hey jt: He didn’t really “swallow” his tongue. his tongue actually was shallowed slightly farther down his tongue this happens when you pass out/get knocked out and when you pass out all of your nerves calm down so your tongue rests down your throat and covers your throat stopping your breathing
*Mención especial* for Eric Cantoná fouling a fan on the grades!
First american to ever call that sports football instead of soccer, that my man right there🥲
Respect for calling it football
Ah, the kung-fu kick.
One of the memes of all time along the bite and and Mario Balotelli's celebration.
"Yew Eee Eff Ayy" is how I'm pronouncing UEFA from now on.
