Karambit may be popular, but it doesn't make it the best. Push dagger has one thing over karambit and that's ease of use - if you know how to punch, you know how to use a push dagger. Karambit, however, involves either training to use specifically karambit or being good at grappling and knife fighting with icepick grip, which isn't all that popular in the real world. Had a man from SWAT teach me how to use a knife in a fight and I seriously questioned him when he told me to get an icepick grip on the knife, because you either don't know what you're doing or you know exactly what you're doing when you grip a knife like that. Also, when speaking of legality of those knives, it's a complicated topic, because both are illegal here, but are sold freely, because they are purposefully made thinner than they are supposed to be and from a poor quality steel. The knife that's actually being used the most in CQC is a cheap kitchen knife.
When i was in a gang we used to make these . But little bit different the handle was out wood just a +/- 10cm from a shovel and 2 or 3 spikes into the wood that way they sitting between your fingers

This small of a blade would be impractical to forge fully all the way out. I forged as much as could and then cleaned up on the grinder
