  • we purchased a Intex above ground pool over the shut down and decided if we were going to keep it we wanted it to look a little bit nicer and a little bite more modern, so we gave it a makeover

    Absolutely love this so much, it's a great way of hiding the pool which isn't very attractive and this also makes it easy to replace the pool with a new one if needed. Brilliant job 💜💜💜

    I would consider connecting the 4 sides with carriage bolts and nuts so when you have to replace the pool it's easy to reassemble.

      I know I wish I had filmed the process unfortunately we had the lumber shortage and there was quite a bit of downtime between finishing it… But I wish I had more of that detail I will on the future projects

      @@The_Heightshi we are considering this brand pool. Is everything still holding up well? I was mixed with a few reviews on Lowes with this same pool. The complaint was about the pump but it looks like you replaced with a different one.

      @@tangeeaugustin5994 ours is still working great no complaints but yes, you would definitely want to upgrade to a sand pump. A little filtered pumps that it comes with are no good. As long as it has a sand pump you should be all set.

      You can also build raised garden beds around the pool and it will look axactly like an in ground pool

    Looks fantastic and modern, we're putting in a rain tank type of pool it's in one piece 3.5m circle and I'm looking at putting it half inground, find this wall very pleasing to look at.

    I love this! We are purchasing a bigger pool next week and would love to build this on my own without much help from my husband. If you don’t mind answering a few questions for me? First off, did you dig holes for the fence posts? Can you please tell me the color of the stain you used? What are the trim pieces, metal? Where did you purchase those. And lastly, can you please explain how you accomplished the top pieces? That sit flat around the top of the pool. Like how you connected those to be sturdy. Thanks so much! Looking forward to hearing back from you.

      Thanks ….It’s early American stain. The black trim is actually wood painted black. The top pieces are mounted directly to the top of the fence posts.👍🏼

    Looks good. Sand filters are not an upgrade to filter pumps though, at least performance wise. Much lower microns with pleated filters.

      The small paper filters would clog up quickly and were high maintenance for cleaning and changing them out. The sand filter is just a much more maintenance free set up.

      @@The_Heights then it was too small of a cartridge (undersized). Properly sized, the carts are soooooo easy, clean, and most importantly effective.

      @@govegan0424 ​​⁠ yeah I wouldn’t be surprised. It was undersized. It definitely seemed that way. It was the stock filter that comes with these pools, which seemed really cheap.

      Works great every year or so I sanded everything down and put a fresh coat of stain on it other than that no issues

    Do you have all the measurements and dimensions? How much wood and how much stain? A list of all the materials would be great!

      Unfortunately, I don’t have the exact list or dimensions. I was kind of just building this as I went back when I did it… Sorry about that it’s going to also vary depending on the exact pool you end up with.

    I wonder if it actually counts as a fence around a pool. My HOA requires a fence around a pool.... maybe this would do? Very nice.

      Doubtful. Fences are required to keep kids out. This is merely a wall offering no protection from entry.

      The structure would do find the pool itself I’m not sure you’d have to ask the actual company how they hold up in cold temperatures… If you drain the pool for winter each year it would probably be fine

      Main mounting points are the tops of the fence posts I ran two by fours on the inside top edges of the fence posts connecting them to also give mounting surface for the top

    This looks great, and I’m considering something like this, since I have the same pool. My question is, since these pools aren’t meant to be permanent, what happens when you need to replace it? It can’t be easy to install one within the frame.

      Everything is screwed together, so it’s pretty easy to just take one of the Long sides down to get in and out if you were to replace the pool I am on 3 years and the pool is still just fine no issues.

    Do you have kids that play in it? This looks like an awesome upgrade, but i would be concerned about getting in/out. Milled/flat wood is slippery when wet. Do you have some sort of non-skid where you get in/out?

      There is a ladder on the inside of the actual pool that you can walk up and get out very easily, and on the backside of the pool now there are two steps to get up and get in the pool, not shown in this video aside from that, the wood has held up very well… It was sanded thoroughly, but in general, which would you do need to be cautious overtime to maintain it

      Thanks man… It’s just a specific type of pump that they sell that uses sand to filter the water rather than like a paper filter that you have to change out all the time

    Your design is absolutely perfect and I love it. We have a very similar pool style about same dimensions and you gave me my next project to tackle for next summer. How is your winter over there, does it affect your components and liner ?

      Thanks! We don’t really have winter here in Florida so it doesn’t affect much at all and the frame is oversize just enough to never touch or interfere with the actual pool or framing

    Really glad i found this,.....you if anyone could answer or have thoughts on this,....do you think its possable to build the wood enclosure to fit the liner inside of,...without use the braces or metal frame,.......what you have here is exactly what ive been brainstorming,...but i want to build the wood enclosure into ,..and under an rv canopy i already have,...useing the already strong cemented in posts,...if anyone has advice or ideas or warnings about this please comment,...thx,......love the way this looks!!

      I’m sure you could figure out a way to do it… However the way the frame works at a loss for the pool liner to expand and contract as you get in and out in the water levels rise… Hopefully you’re able to figure it out good luck

    So exactly what kind of wood was used?

      It’s all pressure-treated outdoor lumber as far as the exact dimensions. This was built on the fly so I don’t have a build list but it’s almost all two by tens.

    Looks great. I have the same pool & would love to do this but the lumber price is absolutely ridiculous. Wood is one of the most easily renewable building material and has no reason to be the price it is

    Do you collapse the pool in the winter, or do you leave it out? I'm considering using your idea, but my wife is concerned that it is not a good idea in Swedish winter temperatures.

      We don’t really get a winter here in Florida, but I will drain the pool and just keep it covered… It gives me the opportunity to clean the liner and prep everything when refilling it for the next season. And because of the size of the pool it’s very inexpensive to fill.

      There is definitely a possibility, lol… However, there are gaps between the boards and I frequently spray everything out. I’ve had no issues with anything like that.
