    Very well explained and at the right speed. Your diction is super, I could understand every word most clearly! Been a while since I've delved into Adobe to create links - seems though the first page nav does not go to the top of the page. May be doing something incorrect? Keep up the super job!!!

      Hello, Morton. Thank you for your kind comment! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to recreate the issue where the first-page nav button doesn't go to the top of the page, so I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions. If the problem persists, you may want to reach out to Adobe Support. I wish you all the best with your PDF project!

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  5 месяцев назад

      Excellent question! In the past, I would have said no; however, Adobe recently announced an upgrade to the Action Wizard that will allow you to perform the same action on multiple PDFs at once. I haven't had time to experiment with it yet, but here is the link from Adobe's What's New page (this link will only apply to March 2024): helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/whats-new.html.

    Hi Erin, thanks for the detailed steps! is there a way to just navigate the pdf based on the buttons and lock the usually way of moving to previous/next page via arrows or mouse wheels? I'm trying to build an interactive pdf here with buttons linked to different pages, so it might not come in as continuous sequence.

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  Год назад

      That is an interesting question! You could set the PDF to open directly in full-screen mode so the interface is not visible to your readers. However, I don't believe there is a way to deactivate the reader's interface if they choose to exit full-screen mode. I wish you all the best with your project!

      Thank you for watching! I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble. The buttons in Acrobat can be temperamental, so my best suggestion is to delete the buttons that aren't working correctly, save the PDF, close the software, and then reopen it and reinsert the buttons. Best of luck!

    I need to create a navigation return backward button to the previous file, not in the same document. For example the first time I open file A then I open file B when I click backward it will be back to file A.

    Thank you for the clear instructions! I can create the navigation button, but I would like it to point it to our TOC page which the button would appear on all pages. So for example, when the reader is on page 4 and wants to view the TOC page, they can click on the button on that page 4 and it will take them to the TOC page on pg. 3. I can't seem to get it to do that. How can I get it to do that? Appreciate any info.

      That is an excellent question! Instead of using a navigation button to your TOC, create a "page view" button instead. I have a separate tutorial explaining that process: ruclips.net/video/SrPaJ16-hlk/видео.html. I wish you all the best with your PDF!

      Thank you for watching! Yes, this should work in your existing document. However, there are a number of ways to create links/buttons in Acrobat, so you may want to experiment a bit. I have a separate tutorial on buttons to page views that you may find helpful (ruclips.net/video/SrPaJ16-hlk/видео.html) and another for internal links (ruclips.net/video/4Gvrcm8QUcY/видео.html). • @erinwrightwriting

      Hi, Mathew, that is a great question! You can cut and paste navigation buttons; however, in practice it doesn't always work as planned. So, my best suggestion is to create a template for your monthly report. I am planning to a tutorial on that topic, but in the meanwhile, where is an article from Adobe support that you may find helpful: helpx.adobe.com/sign/using/create-document-template.html.

    Hi,
    I have created a button in all pages of pdf with 'button property action (view > page navigation > previous view)'
    For ex, in my current page (page no 5), if I did zoom in/out, then when I click on button. My expectation is it should go to previous page, but it's doing zoom in/out.
    Can I know how we can ignore zoom in/out, while click on button.

    When I duplicate the button, the orientation of the button is not correct on pages that have been rotated to landscape. Is there an easy way to change this. I have documents that are over a thousand pages, containing spreadsheets that are rotated to landscape view.

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  2 года назад

      That is a very interesting question. Unfortunately, I am not aware of a way to change the button orientation based on page orientation. However, that may be something that can be done in InDesign instead of Acrobat. I wish you the best of luck!

    so, I tried to apply this procedure to a footer dedicated to linking to a ToC, but the internal link creation function treated the the selected text as standalone, not as a footer, and so applied the link only to that one instance of the footer. so, how does one create an internal link from a footer? many thanks

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 года назад

      Thank you for watching my video. Rather than using text already in your footer, you may want to try creating the button as shown in this tutorial and positioning it in the footer area. Then, change the properties (remove the background color, border, etc.) so it looks like normal footer text. Best of luck!

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much for watching my tutorials! Your readers' ability to highlight and bookmark text will be determined by the software they are using to read the PDF rather than settings you can establish in Adobe Acrobat. For example, if your readers are using Acrobat Reader, they can select Tools > Comment > and then select the Highlight tool. Unfortunately, Reader doesn't provide a bookmark tool; however, many of the other free reading apps that come with tablets and phones do have bookmarking features. I wish you all the best with your manuscript!
