Maybe there will be a driver update in the future that allows for significantly higher overclocks on the better cooled card. But for now... it seems expensive. That being said, if you just HAVE to have a water cooled 5700 XT, that's your card versus buying a normal one and then doing the whole water cooled thing manually.
When mentioning the price to performance, i feel like those 150$ extra are more about the temps improving than performance. $599 is a fair price for this card. you should have mentioned that the 200$ premium is somewhat justifiable since that is an EK waterblock pre installed and it is a binned chip. When its overclocked it does quite a bit better...though just take a 2080/s with a similar design and do the same.thing...or a 2080ti...kingpin..op..also msi lightning is a wtf for a air cooled card that just is amazing what msi did and impressive temps...
I got the PowerColor Liquid Devil RX 5700 XT as my current Liquid cooled card died and its not 50% higher that would make it 800 bux the Red devil is ruffly 430 bux right now and the Liquid devil is actually 600 bux that is 180 bux more and it is the perfect replacement for some one that already has a full liquid setup and there GPU died or needs to be replaced do to performance and its a plug and play card. this card saves you the hassle of getting a GPU and replacing the cooler with a water block and it is pre super OC out the box and you keep your warranty so there is a lot rapped up in that extra 180 bux . And it looks sick. And with current drivers it sits comfortably in-between the 2070 Super and 2080 Super.
I had the Red Devil 5700 XT and for the first few weeks it was amazing. Theeeeen I started blue screening. It got to the point where it would blue screen minutes upon start up so I took everything apart tested everything 1 by 1 and found it to be a gpu issue. Looked further into the error code and as it turns out this is a regular occurance for the red devil as the crash is caused by the shitty drivers. Reinstall drivers and everything is fine....for a few days when I start getting blue screened again. Safe to say, I no longer have a Red Devil 5700xt.
Would have been nice to see how binned the chips are compared to the air cooled version. My overclock using the more power mod is temp limited on my Red Devil. What frequency can the liquid devil hit
$600 for 1080/1080Ti performance, that is quite the achievement for Radeon, if... this card came out three years ago. Go and get yourself a 2070 Super, really it's a no brainer...
Probably already been said but you should point out that a full-cover waterblock costs a lot. So buying a 5700 XT for $400 and then buying a waterblock for $150-200 then you are still getting a, hopefully, better binned GPU at the same price.
Its a nice card for sure. And if you get a reference 5700xt and an ek waterblock for it with a backplate you will pay 580 anyways so i dont see a problem with the price especially because it's binned and the custom red devil block is dope. People with money constraints usually don't watercool because that is kind of an extra if you have it to spend enthusiasts type of thing imo. Why do people who love tech seem to love cats too lol.
this card in the UK now is under 600 quid throw in a phanteks glacier for 80 quid a 240 rad and some soft tubing and connectors and you have a water cooled GPU which is a insane card for less than 800 quid... no brainer what with how Nvidia are going about business at the mo this for me is the best buy for 2019
Just curious @Bitwit, what's the comparable Nvidia card's pricing with a custom waterblock on it? (I'm guessing a 2070 super?) because I bet that would change the perception of this card a bit since the stock 5700 xt is $399 MSRP and the 2070 Super is $499 MSRP... (No I don't give a crap about the fact the 2070 super has ray tracing, congrats to the RTX fans, you still can only use it on about 5 games total, and that's NOT anywhere near the realm of a reasonable excuse to spend my hard earned money on "advanced technology"...yet)
Mhmm 6:32, is "ambient" meant to be room temp? My guess is that it was supposed to say "72F" instead of 72C because that is 22C which is normal room temp?
This is the second video I've watched on this card and so far no one ever compares the cost to another liquid cooled card or the cost of adding liquid cooling to the air cooled cards.
man, I would so love to have that graphics card, but I also sort of feel bad for you because of how much you must've spent on that, and the massive performance gains the 3000 series is said to have
My thought is that if you're planning to custom loop anyway, you buy the liquid devil over the red devil - or just get a reference card. Also I thought the red devil was also binned.
That's actually not that bad of a price hike. You'd spend, easily, 160 bucks purchasing the waterblock and backplate anyways so it's not marked up very much if at all. They just added the price you'd spend on EK's website for their hardware, but this is Powercolor's own waterblock.
I honestly think this card is worth the extra money. If you're in the market for this card, you're doing a custom loop, this option let's you skip on purchasing a water block, which explains the jump in price. So, if you're doing a custom loop, you're getting a binned GPU and a water block for an extra ~$150.
Hey Bitwit! You have a ton of awesome, helpful build videos, but what do you do with these PC's when you are finished? Do you sell them or just have a MASSIVE arsenal of computers ready to go?
True... but that is not the reason you buy this card though... If you're in a place where 37°C-40°C is just another tuesday. this card is way cheaper than an air conditioning. lol
look at jayztwocents video on it. he overclocks and gets a lot more performance. i don't know why kyle didn't OC the card, it has a fucking UNLEASHED bios.
@@ogreeni don't forget the cost of the block. EK blocks aren't free especially custom blocks. I am still running a 56 on water so cards like this are not an unreasonable choice for someone like me. Not much more expensive than a base card plus ek block, AND it's a binned card with 270w bios with full warranty. Would go straight into my loop with its own 360 rad.
@@GAMEVIDSnorwegian422 yeah that's where I'm at. To each their own, but it seems like a weird card to buy. I like the 5700xt but it isn't what I would put more money into for a water cooled version.
What I don't understand is.. why would anyone spend $599 on the Liquid Devil when you can buy something else like an Asus branded RTX 2070 Super Advanced "Factory Overclocked" card.. a card that will smoke any 5700 XT variant. Plus with the RTX card you're also getting Ray Tracing for the same price. The Liquid Devil makes no sense at the $599 pricepoint. I can see maybe $479 or something along those lines.. because it would have to be cheaper than an RTX 2070 Super in order to make sense to buy.
Buuuuuuut If you want to build a custom loop the price difference isn't as high as you expect, pick an air cooled card and buy an aftermarket LC block + backplate it's almost the same price, except you have no hassle of changing the cooler
They should have really called this product: the Blue Devil, it would have really differentiated it from the current lineup and since it's a custom water-cooling GPU... Not surprised with the price though, You have to pay the EK high quality work tax :p
you said its worth it for the temps? but lower temps just mean more headroom for oc and if card is maxed out what good is even lower temps? just saying :D
It is about a 150 dollar premium for possibly the coolest wblock ive ever seen. If you are building a custom loop this does not seem out of order to me.
I picked up the Gigabyte 5700XT Gaming OC model for $399 ( tax not included ) Seriously nice and quiet triple fan card card for literal MSRP. No complaints with mine!

Or just buy a 2070 super for 50 USD less and OC it to beat the 2080 (or well, 2070 super and 2080 is the same die... but whatever lol). 2080 super really isnt that much more powerfull than the 2070 super/2080.
@Synner Dethshayde ...they dont need a water block to run cool. Because they're powerful enough for most people they arent going to be stressed...the air coolers also are very much amazing. But yeah the only real difference is the water block you're not getting much else...grab a superior card
when you consider a water block for a 5700xt is about $150 and installing an aftermarket block voids your warranty. this is actually as good value if you're looking at water cooling anyways.
I've got zero chance to get a Ryzen 9 5900X or Radeon RX 6900 XT in the next 6+ months, so I'm staying with my Ryzen 7 3800X and ordered a RX 5700 XT Liquid Devil. This will have to do for a few years I guess. :'(
If you've got enough money to buy a Liquid Devil (don't forget you've got to add the cost of the radiator, fans, pump and reservoir to compare apples to apples) you might as well buy a 2089 Super, cos you'll have spent that much and it will be a whole different level of performance. Liquid Devil looks nice mind but nah waste of money (same as EVGA 2080 Ti Hybrid)
Wait.....so this card performs and boosts no better than my reference design XFX 5700xt that I've applied the Gamers Nexus washer mod and using Thermalright TF8 thermal grease. My XFX reference card boosts to 2092 with a top temp of 76 degrees Celsius. Cost-to-performance for the sake of quieter operation and lower temperature is actually horrible with this PowerColor card. Especially considering you've got to spend a few hundred dollars more for the other water cooling equipment. I'll keep my reference XFX card until I see the next big leap from team red. 5900XT pleeeeeease?!?!? ^_^
So I have a 1050ti gpu and a case, any recommendations for the other components? Cpu, psu, mobo etc. My budget is £250 / $320US. When its overclocked it does quite a bit better...though just take a 2080/s with a similar design and do the same.thing...or a 2080ti...kingpin..op..also msi lightning is a wtf for a air cooled card that just is amazing what msi did and impressive temps...
Yulfine did you see how much Power Navi uses? A lot more than Nvidia.
Can I ask which cooler you used?
@@spideyfan804 I use all EKWB water blocks rads and pump's
@@SuperGokuSon ah thanks man
I had the Red Devil 5700 XT and for the first few weeks it was amazing.
150 for waterblock is not a bad price. Including the fact that installing block does not void varranty and you cant mess up that installation
Since water-cooling makes it smaller why not drop it down to single slot height?
What would the cost be to add in the tubing, pump, rad etc? Going from air to liquid I’d have to factor that cost in as well. Thanks, great vid.
That big devil logo they have on the box and block is really nice.
times when gpus have been "cheap"
this card in the UK now is under 600 quid throw in a phanteks glacier for 80 quid a 240 rad and some soft tubing and connectors and you have a water cooled GPU which is a insane card for less than 800 quid... no brainer what with how Nvidia are going about business at the mo this for me is the best buy for 2019
Just curious @Bitwit, what's the comparable Nvidia card's pricing with a custom waterblock on it?
I don't know, man. I had a run in with the PowerColor customer service a few years back. Would never advise anyone to buy anything backed by them.
This is the second video I've watched on this card and so far no one ever compares the cost to another liquid cooled card or the cost of adding liquid cooling to the air cooled cards.
"for the rich"
is my watercooled 2080ti a joke to you lyle?
man, I would so love to have that graphics card, but I also sort of feel bad for you because of how much you must've spent on that, and the massive performance gains the 3000 series is said to have
My thought is that if you're planning to custom loop anyway, you buy the liquid devil over the red devil - or just get a reference card.
The cat looks like it's thinking "what could I have done in a previous life to deserve this?".
except he didn't have a previous life
Is a rtx 2060 super better than these cards though?
Is that block available as a standalone?
I honestly think this card is worth the extra money. If you're in the market for this card, you're doing a custom loop, this option let's you skip on purchasing a water block, which explains the jump in price. So, if you're doing a custom loop, you're getting a binned GPU and a water block for an extra ~$150.
Hey Bitwit! You have a ton of awesome, helpful build videos, but what do you do with these PC's when you are finished? Do you sell them or just have a MASSIVE arsenal of computers ready to go?
You should make a video on how to overlock your gaming chair, mouse, keyboard because mine just don’t have that gaming feeling. Please help.
But how does it perform in ambient temps of around 120C? I'd like to do some gaming in the sauna.
Should I upgrade my 1070ti to a 2070 super? Ryzen 5 2600x, x470 mobo, 16GB 3200mhz RAM. Hoping to dive into VR soon and get actual 1440 monitors.
Reference card and a EK block combo is 50 to 75 bucks cheaper.....As far as a hand binned card from Powercolor...........i dunno about that one..
so little fps gain , only lower temperature but does it worth the extra money?
You clever bastard, putting the sponsor spot in the middle.
I don't rly think its worth it for a 2.5 - 5% increase
True... but that is not the reason you buy this card though...
@@Angelcity1345 You're paying double the price for that
@@ogreeni don't forget the cost of the block.
Agree, for 520$ a 2070S is maybe 2-3% faster and cheaper.
Anyone know what song plays during the FPS benchmarks?
How far off in the future is the 5800XT?
I wonder if this card will be more expensive and if it can even compete with the upcoming cards.
This will only go down in value dude.
I can see maybe $479 or something along those lines.. because it would have to be cheaper than an RTX 2070 Super in order to make sense to buy.
i would love a full rbg build with water cooling it looks awesome maybe one day i will build one
The first thing I would do with this card is, get me black sharpie or edding marker and make the brown PCB edge black.
What would be the difference for the overall life? Is that affected by temps?
Some of these videos I don't even like watching because I know I'll Never have anything like it, But they do look WONDERFUL!
Will the 5700 xt get any raytracing capabilities soon??
you said its worth it for the temps? but lower temps just mean more headroom for oc and if card is maxed out what good is even lower temps? just saying :D
Full Liquid Devil song please!
I only have a half broke gtx 1050 with a ryzen 3 1200 and i want to stream and it doesn't do it. You are so lucky to have all that.
price of this now is super cheap! title didn't age well
I just got a used one on eBay the other day for $200 and I’m getting it today! Lol
7:21 Very nice to hear.
So as a Friend plz help me with a problem.
I recently build my First PC and I paired my EVGA 2080 Super with 3700x so do u think my GPU is Bottleneck with my PROCESSOR?
Nah bro you are good
@@zele thanks
cool video but i'm stuck on trying to figure out those sponsored headphones offer 7.1 sound. 7(speakers).1(subwoofer) most likely cannot fit in a headset. idk tho 🤷🏻♂️
I wanna see both versions OCed to maximum levels as I feel that more representative of the target market.
It does better indeed Jay has a video on it I think. Though it's still not impressive for the cost..its more for looks with a ok boost in performance
$600? In that case I'll save $100 more and buy a 2080 super
Or just buy a 2070 super for 50 USD less and OC it to beat the 2080 (or well, 2070 super and 2080 is the same die... but whatever lol). 2080 super really isnt that much more powerfull than the 2070 super/2080.
@@GAMEVIDSnorwegian422 the 2080s is 10%~13% better than a 2070s and an overclocked 2070s can easily reach that kind of performance
@@thewinner4x873 a 2080 super falls behind around 20 something % of a 2080ti...2080ti..is a stupidly powerful card...
Hey Kyle i was wondering if you could make a custom cooling tutorial because im going to try to watercool my pc
Any chance you can compare this to the 2080ti?
Any wrong with the ambient temperature at 6:28 ?
72. Not good. Not terrible.
What about the T-die or T junction temp? I thought Radeon clocks are tied to the hottest core or temp of that core.
Still really neat. 👍
So I have a 1050ti gpu and a case, any recommendations for the other components? Cpu, psu, mobo etc. My budget is £250 / $320US. Also I'd like it to run some triple a title's like rainbow six siege, for honor, star wars battlefront 2 at playable quality, roughly 40 or higher fps. Thanks in advance😊. This is a prezzy for my cousin for Xmas hence the budget.
If this isn't possible with this budget then I'll guess I'll have to up it a bit😑
$200 for 5%! I guess the top is expensive, but I’ll take a 2070 super for that money.
Costs too much for the level of performance IMHO. If yo already have a custom loop and you're upgrading from an older card then maybe but otherwise I wouldn't bother.
That said i have a water cooled 2080 ti so fine one to talk I guess...
Put it
In a custom build
With an x570 Aqua
Kyle, you had a liquid cooled, binned gpu, and you didn't bother to overclock it, just to compare it to an air cooled card. What are you doing?
People who buy the Liquid Devil buy it for the looks and insame low temperatures. The 160 USD saved is exactly what an EK GPU bock would cost. And it is already preinstalled.
Just buy the RX 5700XT 50th Anniversary Edition, save the extra $150 for Black Friday where you can likely get 4-5 games.
oo you should do a video on the RX 570, fantastic budget card
This card is p old
Is it worth 200more for 200mhz ?
