Wildcat's Revenge Review, Hersheypark RMC Hybrid Coaster | Best RMC in the Northeast

- Опубликовано: 28 сен 2024
- Wildcat's Revenge is the new-for-2023 hybrid coaster at Hersheypark. This Rocky Mountain Construction creation took the Wildcat wood coaster (GCI) and converted it into a smooth steel coaster. This ride packs in four excellent inversions and a handful of strong airtime moments! This is why it is the best RMC in the northeast.

This ride has the absolute best ride-ops I have have ever seen. They were so intense and seemed as enthusiastic about getting the trains out as we were to be riding it them. It really makes for such a better experience.
Yeah the ride ops are goated
Yeah, I agree. Based on my experience, the ride ops seemed to be racing to get keep those dispatch times to a minimum. I like this practice because even if the line is long, it moves fairly quickly.
They were doing a great job.
If only the crews on Candymonium worked half as fast as the wildcat crew. They be stacking trains on the brake run all day
I wish!
So very true
I've never seen ride op as bad as Candymonium's. How in the living hell does a short B&M hyper with three trains going amass a 120 minute wait?
What an amazing ride from start to finish. Hershey really does have a complete collection of coasters now.
They already had a complete collection, so the rich only got richer.
I really enjoyed Wildcat's Revenge. The ride ops were always trying. On a few laps, we would hit the lift as a train was passing overhead. It was also cool to see some video of GCI Wildcat. It's amazing how much Hersheypark has changed over the past 27 years.
They were doing a great job.
Babe, wake up! Canobie Coaster reviewed Wildcat’s revenge
True that
Lol I’ve been waiting for like 3 weeks for this
It feels like Christmas morning!
We were waiting much longer for the Wildfire review… 😂
Yes I did.
Thanks for the detailed review! You gave a play by play and I loved it!!😅
Glad you enjoyed it.
So lucky to have this beast of a ride so close, Hersheypark has quite the Elite lineup. May the future only be brighter
They've added so much recently.
What do you think of the new Claw Marks on the side of the station building? Looks awesome at night all lit up@@CanobieCoaster
SOOO many people had trouble with the locker system. It’s not that hard. You just enter a 4 digit pin and boom, your locker opens. Oh, and there was a lady in line ahead of us who had a hat on and the ride ops told her she had to put it in a locker. She kept arguing with them to just let her ride with it. Finally some guy in line said he would hold it for her. The entitlement of some people is just astounding.
The pin code is easy. What some people found hard was remembering the exact number.
The evolution of these locker systems kind of fascinates me. I got spoiled by all the pay systems in the US switching over to cards, and being surprised by the lockers at PortAventura only taking euro coins, like the dime- or quarter-operated ones they used to have here.
I think Six Flags' relocatable rentals are clever--aside from the PIN they have you enter a multi-digit recovery code that they suggest should be your mobile phone number, and when you're moving around from one locker bank to another, having only one number you *really* need to remember is key.
Universal's lockers for the Harry Potter rides tried to simplify it by going to fingerprint scans, and while the thought is nice, they just don't work a significant fraction of the time.
Went to the park last weekend. That coaster is definitely the most fun I've had on a ride in a looonnnggg time. It's freaking awesome!
Skyrush is my favorite there.
Went to Hershey on Monday 8/28. Great day without many lines. Got 5 rides on Wildcats Revenge and 29 overall. This coaster was a walk on all day. Going on non-Friday weekdays, especially early or late in the summer is the best way to enjoy this park.
Nice!
Of the 21 RMCs I’ve ridden, I have wildcats revenge at #7 out of the 21. It is in my overall top 20. It was better than expected when it came to pacing. Drop was on the weaker side for me and the first element (under flip ) was not as good as expected. I felt the pacing help the ride get better as it went along and those transitions at the end I really enjoyed them. I do have SkyRush ahead of it as well.
Which are your top three RMC's?
@@mrchrisliddell
1. Steel vengeance
2. Iron Gwazi
3. Lightning Rod
4. Arie Force One
5. Untamed
6. Twisted Timbers.
7. Wildcats Revenge
@@alantrotter2077 great list!
I loved the pacing too.
Glad you enjoyed Wildcat’s Revenge. I was glad to meet you at BGW last month.
Nice to meet you too. Were you the one I met at DarKoaster in the morning or the person at Pantheon?
@@CanobieCoaster We met at DarKoaster and we hung out most the afternoon, riding Pantheon, Apollo, etc.
Great review! I'm surprised it didn't capute more of that wild, out of controlness for you as much as it did for me at least. I find its aggressiveness, pacing, and sequence of maneuvers create a uniquely intense and disorienting experience, and some of those airtime moments and transitions are just so powerful and unexpected that I find myself unable to brace every time. I know it's not a common take, but those things make it one of if not the most aggressive/intense coaster I've personally ridden. Haven't been out to Gwazi yet, but my friend that rode the same day as me said that Wildcat is even aggressive in a certain way that Gwazi is not. We'll see I guess!
My first ride at night was very disorienting since it kept changing directions.
Michael,
So glad you've returned from Gothenburg to review another fine RMC! I made my first trip to Hershey last Summer, and Wildcat was my least favorite (I rode all the coasters except Pioneer Train) by far. Wildcat's Revenge looks like a real contender, and I hope to return to Hershey someday. Thanks for the review; It was nicely done. Tom.
Thank you!
Go Hersheypark!! My backyard wonder!! Wildcats revenge a great ride!! I ride with three other unofficial coasters geek we eat, drink and ride all over the east coast..Pennsylvania alone has six parks to enjoy, up next Knoebels company picnic..enjoy the ride!!
This ride opened on the same day as the theatrical release of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse!
Cool!
To me it is so weird to see the new wood right next to the old weathered wood of the og wildcat
I'm used to it from other RMCs.
Definitely now the park with the most well rounded set of coasters in existence really. Even though not everything they have is best in class, they have something decent of pretty much *every* class. Such a well rounded line up.
B&M Hyper, B&M invert, Classic Woodie, Racing woodie, RMC, Intamin Launch, Intamin Looper, Intamin hyper.
The lineup is fantastic.
On my visit in late August, I rode both front and back row and I only waited for 20 minutes
Nice!
We visited Hersheypark last Thursday. We did buy the Fast Track Unlimited, but it was unnecessary for most rides, including Wildcat's Revenge. By a long shot, this was our favorite coaster of the trip. Even the pre-lift is fantastic. Also managed to make it credit 300.
Glad you loved it.
Best station music ever
It is up there.
She station in my opinion is very cool looking, the train design looks very nice, the unloading system is very good idea and RMC should keep doing it,and the black truss with red track looks so pretty
I hope more RMCs have unload platforms.
Great coasters international, Hersheypark and Rocky Mountain construction made wildcat’s revenge up
RMC did a great job.
Just went to Hersheypark for the first time last month for the weekend. It is one of the best parks I have been to so far. Before Wildcat's Revenge opened, I had never even considered going to Hersheypark eventhough I always only heard good things about it. I definitely rate Wildcat's Revenge a 10 out of 10. Steel Vengeance is epic but I love the Cat's short and sweet attack. Hopefully my homepark Great Adventure will eventually add one of these to rival this masterpiece. 👍👍👍
I prefer Steel Vengeance to Wildcat.
Sadly, there aren't that many RMCs in the Northeast--it was basically Wicked Cyclone and the single-rail Jersey Devil, and as much as I love Wicked Cyclone, any new RMC I-box ride was likely to beat those.
For whatever reason, RMC's early expansion happened mostly in the South, and they still have more of them than any other region.
A lot of the parks in the northeast are family parks that didn't have big RMC candidates. But I'm glad this one was built.
After riding this and sky rush, I think six flags New England has a challenger for best 1-2 punch
Just did both parks in the last few weeks…. Wildcats Revenge beats Wicked Cyclone and Sky-rush beats Superman…Hershey wins hands down….
(And the restraints on Superman we’re wayyyyy worse on my thighs than Skyrush!!)
I do think Kings Dominion might have a better 1-2 punch with I-305 and Twisted Timbers….but it’s very close.
@@cadencenova9936 to be fair my kings dominion trip did get canceled because of hotel issues in Williamsburg after the pandemic so I can’t say much on that but I would agree that hershy now beats New England
I prefer Hershey's top two. Superman and Skyrush are close for me, but Wildcat had a big edge on Wicked Cyclone.
Easily my favorite at Hershey! I always found Skyrush overrated after the great first drop. So, after this trip, it's Wildcat #1 (and I remember the rough previous Wildcat, but my first time riding in the late '90s was great - anytime after was insanely rough and headache-inducing), and then my beloved Storm Runner at #2 (used to be my fave in the park before this visit). Candymonium would be my #3.
This is my number two there.
After riding Arieforce, all other RMC's just seem a bit dull to me, including Wildcat. Damn you, Arieforce!! I haven't ridden Gwazi yet, though.
Iron Gwazi will blow your mind!
I prefer ArieForce too.
I rode this in August and my first ride i was able to get right up to the lockers without a fast pass. This was on a Tuesday so that may have been why
Nice!
Awesome review again! Top 10 RMC?
Probably.
I have heard rope drop so many times, but don't know what it means.
It's park open when they traditionally drop a rope and allow people to go from a holding area to further into a park.
Never thought this before but you reminded me of Rick sebak's voice on this one. Look up wqed Kennywood memories for example you'll see what I'm saying lol
Interesting.
I'm wearing my wildcat's revenge shirt while watching this lol
Nice!
Where did you get access to the station music for Wildcat’s Revenge?
It's from the trailer.
Do you prefer this coaster over arieforce one?
No
Notice how the track looks like licorice. They should call it Twizzlers Revenge, as it would get revenge against those who eat Red Vines.😄😄
I also heard Kit Kat as a possible name by fans.
I just went there this weekend. It's probably 3 for me. Sky rush and storm runner are better for me.
I prefer this to Storm Runner.
I can confirm zipper pockets are fine
Good to know.
In 2021 me riding hades 360° felt like riding this coaster with the red millennium flyer trains on it
Hades 360 is far rougher.
I got 7 rides on sept 9
Nice!
So why did you not give this ride a perfect score?
There are better RMCs.
If I ask you, but why did you give this ride a 9.5 out of 10 and not a perfect score?
It doesn't quite match some other RMC hybrids.
7:03 I suppose the person got banned for life for that despite protesting over the policy due to throwing an object.
The ops didn't say anything at that point and let him ride. They were in shock.
wait a minute when did you go?
Last month

No, not that weekend.

GCI’s first roller coaster is Defunct
Yes it is.
I think this ride is absolutely insane. It is very aggressive at times, especially the ending. I think the transition into the brake run was a mistake but other than that this ride is almost a masterpiece.
I love the wonky transition at the end.
This ride was called the wildcat and it was rough in 2019
Yes
This roller coaster is just like iron gwazi and steel vengeance
Feels more like Iron Gwazi and Zadra than Steel Vengeance.
Canobie Coaster would say: Wildcat had a good layout. It was a twisted mess of track with some nice airtime pops, particularly in its early years with the PTC trains. But the ride fell out of favor over the following decade. This was for two reasons. First, the coaster became rough. PTC trains were not the most adept at navigating a twisty layout like that of Wildcat. That is why the later GCIs ran Millennium Flyer trains. Wildcat actually got these trains in 2007, but the track had already been beat up.
Second, Hersheypark opened Lightning Racer in 2000. This was a dueling wooden coaster, also from GCI. And it was also placed in Midway America as well. The ride also had a twister layout like Wildcat...
A) It was far better received for its stronger airtime, smoothness, Millennium Flyers from day one, and racing element.
B) While the airtime wasn't quite as strong, it was far more popular with parkgoers for its smoother ride, Millennium Flyers from day one, and racing element.
B
This ride was rough in the past
Yes as Wildcat.
It sucked
Row 2 is the best
Not sure what the hype about the front is, the back is the way to go for me.
@@S.J.C._Entertainment All about what you like, the inversions hit wayyyy harder in the front! Still prefer the back though, but it's nice to have variety in a coaster!
@@nesmanmain0001 The inversions are a good bit whippier in the front, but I personally prefer the airtime in the back. Fantastic ride in any row though.
Sounds like you've never rode in row 2 before@@S.J.C._Entertainment
I've ridden WCR around 20 times and I honestly don't think the increase in airtime in the back is strong enough to make up for the great intensity of the forces you feel with the train pushing you through the elements when sitting near the front (but not the very front)@@S.J.C._Entertainment
They waited from 1945 to now to rmc it. Smh
Lol
Some of the comments seen in this video, they asked you the comparisons between this ride, Wildcat's Revenge at Hersheypark, and Hades 360 at Mt. Olympus. In terms of ride experience, did you like both? Did you think both rode and/or felt similar?
I like both rides, but Hades is far rougher.
Wildcat's Revenge at Hersheypark, what do you think about the ride in terms of smoothness? Canobie Coaster would say:
In terms of smoothness, Wildcat tracks flawlessly. That being said, I could see some finding a few of the transitions, particularly during the finale, a bit too aggressive.
Imagine saying "very aggressive" and "a bit too aggressive". What are the differences between the two? What do you think?
Too means it goes beyond what people may find comfortable.
We think Wildcat's Revenge is the best ride at the park for many. And for you, Canobie Coaster?
I think it's split between this, Skyrush, and Candymonium.
While it was rough, did you think Wildcat at Hersheypark had a bad layout?
But it was not placed in your video of top 25 worst roller coasters in the world (2020).
The layout was solid despite the shakiness.
It's a split between, what does that mean?
Different people have any 3 of those rides as their favorite there.
Imagine saying:
very aggressive
pretty aggressive
too aggressive
I think they are similar, but what are the differences between the three? What do you think?
Too aggressive goes beyond the threshold of comfort. Very aggressive has a lot of aggression and pretty aggressive can too.
Rode this on Thursday as my first-ever RMC! Even though we're around an hour and a half away from the park, my family and I haven't been to Hersheypark in at least 6-7 years, if not longer. I was stunned at what a great ride this was. Of course, I've never ridden anything as intense as an RMC, so I was nearly crapping my pants before we went on. When we got off we all had to catch our breath a bit.
Such a great ride to have so close to home!
It's fantastic.
Was there opening day, this ride is so aggressive lol #1 in the park for me and top 3 for sure, and for some reason I love how loud it is when it slams into the lifthill
It's fantastic.
One of my favorite details about Wildcat’s Revenge is that you can actually see the original drop of Wildcat in the under flip supports! It reminds me a lot of the Rolling Thunder hill on El Toro!
It's a cool Easter Egg.
Wilscats revenge is honestly insane. Probably 3rd for me in the northeast, which is something I never thought I would be saying. Insanly great coaster.
It's excellent
@@CanobieCoaster Would you even go as far as to put it over El toro and Superman. I have toro as one, superman as two, and this as three.
That unbanked double down I expected to be my favorite moment on this coaster and it is. I love being tossed right and forward almost hitting my head its scary in the best way possible
For me it’s the second wave turn, that thang is insane
For me it’s the second wave turn, that thang is insane
It's so odd and awesome.
Bro really played the wildcats revenge theme song through this whole video. Giving me anxiety just watching this video
Love the music.
I think that Hersheypark really needs a world class coaster that people can unanimously agree is one of the best. Steel Vengeance, Velocicoaster, Fury 325, Etc. Skyrush is probably the most polarizing coaster on earth, and WR is just a great RMC, but it isn’t even the best in the park, or the best RMC that opened this year. I think this park could really use a family launch coaster, followed by a Mack extreme spinner or an intamin Giga to put the nail in the coffin, and solidify it as having one of the, if not the most stacked ride lineups in the world.
it may not be considered elite by any means, but i believe at least they have the best hydraulic launch in Storm Runner. granted that's not hard to pull off considering most of the others are one tricks or clones of each other, though. I think both it and Fahrenheit go extremely underappreciated by the coaster community, the latter feels like a blitz but without the launch. but I agree, a giga would be super amazing for the park
@@alfie5289 Yeah exactly! I think stormrunner is a great 3rd in the park. I'd personally love a T-Rex giga here (its the most unique possible giga they could get)
I think their lineup is stacked as is. There's at least one elite ride there for anyone's tastes.
I was skeptical going in, I don't generally like the larger RMCs as much. But I was blown away. It's now the only RMC in my top 10. As an RMC critic, this thing slaps! It's got amazing pacing, great airtime (some surprising moments too), and it looks great. That Saturday night ride absolutely guaranteed it a spot as one of my favorite coasters of all. Also solidifies my love for Hershey. Between Skyrush, Wildcat's Revenge, Storm Runner, and Candymonium... They have such a stacked lineup of coasters.
Glad you loved it! Hershey's lineup really is incredible.
I can confirm that they'll let you through if you put everything in your zipper pockets.
Good to know, thanks!
I rode this for the first time about a month ago during my trip to Hershey Park. One word….. SPECTACULAR! This ride met and exceeded my already high expectations.
Glad you loved it.
7:27 this coaster I’ve heard did have assigned seating due to its 1.Newest Ride and 2.Loading Station is Narrow, but I’m thinking that maybe relaxed like candymonium did on that coaster’s opening year back in 2020 but I hope I’m not wrong
That could have been the case.
Hard toss up between if this or Skyrush are my favorite coaster at Hershey now
Both are amazing.
Wildcats revenge is amazing. Easily the best roller coaster in the park and it is my overall number 2 behind steel vengeance. I have it over rides like Iron Gwazi, El Toro, Voyage, Fury, I305, Skyrush, and Velocicoaster. I thought it was that good. Every element was done so perfectly, pacing was perfect, and the ops were amazing.
Excellent ride but I prefer Skyrush.
@@CanobieCoaster I completely understand anyone who prefers Skyrush. It is absolutely insane. It tries to rip your body in half and is easily one of the most intense roller coasters out there.
What is your #1

You're welcome
I hope you visit oakwood theme park also love this vid
I hope to someday.
Does the double down ride similar to that on Zadra? They seem very alike
This one is far heavier on the lats.
I’ve only gotten to ride this RMC twice earlier in the summer, and I have only two words for it: GOOD KITTY!
Lol
Been looking forward to this review ever since you posted the off ride footage!! Really appreciate ya man!
Hope you enjoyed it!
I visted Hershey yeaterday on a very busy day and they were only running 2 trains on this coaster. I waited about 45 minutes the second time but am hour the first due to it going down briefly. The operations were pretty good for not using all 3 trains but some people really need to pay more attention when loading and that alone would help.
This coaster really is fantastic and I say that as a fan of the original Wildcat, particularly in it's early days with the PTC trains as it ran so much faster. I think it's my number 2 at Hershey behind Stormrunner but it's very close.
This is my second favorite there after Skyrush.
As always, the review is super accurate! I agree, Skyrush still is better but Wildcat's Revenge is definitely close.
Also- 14:29 there's a cut that snuck into the end video! I'm pretty sure youtube lets you cut those out, right?
Thanks, I will edit that out.
i was at the park sunday and got to ride back row at night and now can safely say this is the best ride in the park. one of the most agressive rmcs for sure
It's wonderful.
When a coaster gets rmc’d, does rmc have to get permission from the original manufacturer? Like in these case, did rmc need permission from gci?
I do not know what happens behind the scenes.
I went on this coaster 3 days in August and it was insane! I only had to wait 30 minutes at most in the line as well. (Not including the time it broke down right before I got on that added another 15-20 minutes)
Edit:
I'm hoping that they eventually either retrack or RMC Lightning Racer as well cause I found it rly rough. Out of the two options I think a retrack would be better cause the park doesn't really have any other twister layout coasters, and they just got an RMC. I think if they retracked Lightning Racer it would be a lot better.
I don't think Lightning Racer will be RMCed, but trackwork would be nice.
yeah having 2 rmc's in one park would be dumb
Canobie Coaster would say:
If you weren't able to tell by my element-by-element breakdown, this ride's pacing is phenomenal. You cruise from one element to the next, and the sense of speed is enhanced by all those near-misses.
In terms of smoothness, Wildcat tracks flawlessly. That being said, I could see some finding a few of the transitions, particularly during the finale, a bit too aggressive. For example, my wife found Wildcat a bit too violent towards the end for her tastes.
