Headed there next week for the 4th time. Favorite resort I've been to and it's not even close. Everything is EXCELLENT. The missing lunch buffet is more than made up for by all the other ways you can get something to eat. Options everywhere. The beach I agree is not the greatest beach ever but they do a good job keeping the seaweed down. Certainly still nice enough to take a swim. Adults only so no kids is amazing. A little bit expensive for sure, but I feel like that keeps the riff raff and college kids away, so that's a plus. Overall excellent service. Never had a complaint ever about that. All and all 9.8 for me. Nice job on the review!

We are debating going in November. Is the water and beach here dirty or full of seaweed? Did you have any difficulty making reservations on property or get bored of the food or get the stomach flu from eating or drinking on property? How long of a walk is it to your room? How well did the AC work? I like a cold room to sleep in, 67F, ideally. Is the water pressure low, any limited hot water issues, and how well does the wifi work? Are the pools heated?

@shanew7361 never been in November so can't speak to the seaweed. The water is usually pretty clear tho. Not crystal clear but pretty good. The food has never made me or anyone we have been with sick. There is a pretty good variety of food at all the restaurants and buffets set up.

    We love Excellence!
Transportation is included if you stay 3+ nights (through Seasons for Cancun destinations). It’s always been private for us and we’ve never had to wait for other guests. They pick you up in a nice SUV and have always offered us water and “Mexican Water” (beer) for the drive.
As far as food goes, I love that they have a separate menu for vegetarian dishes that’s just as extensive as the main menu. That plus the amazing service is one of the reasons we choose Excellence over other resorts.
I’ve also found that each resort in the collection has its own Facebook fan group where people share tips, advice, etc. to help you plan your trip. We’ve found those groups super helpful!

We have been going to this resort since 2014, they used to have a lunch buffet but stopped it when Covid hit. Not sure why it was never brought back, but I do love the Italian option in the place of the buffet at lunch. And the French is one of the best restaurants, you must have missed out on surf and turf and also the filet mignon! The best. We go once to twice a year to this resort. We have been going to Cancun over 30 years and this is hands down the best. Excited to try their new sister property next summer. Their other sister property ERC has wonderful food too, just the beach is not as nice as EPM.

@@shanew7361 We are pool-people, not so much beach, but the beach is well-groomed and seaweed picked up each AM. Most seem to like the beach. It is better here at EPM than it was at ERC. Keep in mind though that the entire Mexican Caribbean coast has challenges with the seaweed, and it varies with season, wind and weather. We never had food issues (5 visits) but eating too much, too different than you are used to, and excess alcohol are far greater risks. We stay long visits (15 nights) and that is long enough to experience all the restaurants several times which is a little repetitive but not boring; a 7 night visit or so I would say "no not bored" of the restaurants

We are looking at The Excellence Playa Mujeres (6 nights) as our first trip to Cancun in 2025 and this review helped a lot. We are newbies to the all-inclusive world, so we have what you might consider some basic questions. The room we are looking at is an Excellence Club room. I assume if you book that room, that means you are getting Excellence Club level included in the quoted price (it is not another extra charge)? Second on their website it states 'free transfers included with a minimum 3 night stay'. Does that mean transfers back and forth to the airport? You used another company in the video, was that just personal preference or I am misunderstanding the 'free transfer' statement? Finally we were looking at some Sandals resorts which include all tips, I assume that tipping at Excellence resorts are not included. We don't have a problem with that, we just want to be prepared. Thanks for your time.

    • @3Days3Noches
      @3Days3Noches  Месяц назад +1

Yes if you book a Club room you will get access to all the club amenities. I did use my own company as personal preference. Just keep in mind the transfers they provide might be shared and not private. So just check! And tipping is not included here :). Ty for watching

Food is good, especially for an all-inclusive. Everything is within a five minute walk on property since it is a relatively small property. AC was good, don't think it got that cold though. Water pressure is strong, maybe even a little too strong for some. I take HOT showers and never had any issues maintaining temperature. WiFi was great everywhere, even on the beach. We stayed here a few times in the same room type, same building you stayed in. Always requested building 8 because of the view and its right near the EC bar. Something to note is the temperature of your plunge pool depends what side of the wall it is on, on your roof top. If you get a shadded pool you cant even go in it. The sunny side is like bath tub water.
The food is ok. Never had to go to the buffet becuase there's so many other options.
I dont think we'll be back again but what set it apart for us was the service.

How was your trip? We are debating going in November. Is the water and beach here dirty or full of seaweed? Did you have any difficulty making reservations on property or get bored of the food or get the stomach flu from eating or drinking on property? How long of a walk is it to your room? How well did the AC work? I like a cold room to sleep in, 67F, ideally. Is the water pressure low, any limited hot water issues, and how well does the wifi work? Are the pools heated? Is the resort loud?

Thanks for another helpful video. We are going there for 5 nights for a family destination wedding in August. We have been to Cancun at an all-inclusive a couple of times with other couples (Sun Palace & Hyatt Zilara) and have never been too satisfied with the resorts, beaches (lots of seaweed), dining (food was fair at best) or compact/crowded feel they had. We are hoping this is better than those. We have booked into an excellence club H
honeymoon two story rooftop terrace suite with plunge pool in building 9 (I think this is a higher level room than you had and right on the beach). At $804/nt it seems like a bargain (less than half the price) compared to a similar room at most Sandals. A little concerned with your feedback on the food.

Out of curiosity what didn’t you like about the lazy river? We keep going back to excellence riviera maya for the lazy river pool that circles the spa. If you like to swim or float it’s a huge pool.

I understand. At Riviera maya the spa lazy river pool is much larger with the rooms farther back. There is another common pool away from rooms with a swim up bar. The large pool around the spa at riviera maya keeps us coming back. And of course the staff is excellent. We prefer a la cart dining but there is a breakfast and lunch buffet at riviera maya. Riviera maya is their first club so it is layed out slightly differently. We were there the first year it opened and keep returning. Depends what you want in a resort.

I recently found your channel and love your videos! The very best thing about this video for me was seeing sweet Moises's face so much! Isn't he just pure light and joy?! Love him so much.
Other comments may have noted these points... there are more EC Cabanas than you observed- there are 5 to the right of the spa hut, but another 5-6 on the other side. Still- I agree- by 7am is your best bet to grab one, though at times we've noted them available much later. We actually prefer loungers. Also, the lunch buffet that closed before Covid should be reopening under The Kitchen Table soon! I would also note that if I'd only eaten where you ate, I would 100% agree on 7/10 for food- Lobster House also being my favorite from those you dined at. If you return, for dinners, put Magna on the top of your list (also to note, they don't serve lunch as stated, just breakfast and dinner) as well as Flavor Market and Agave.
Again, some of these comments may already have been shared, and if so, I apologize for being repetitive.
I agree- 7 should not be EC for anything other than pool view- it's silly. I'm glad you were moved to 8. In the future, request 8a if you'd like those front ocean views w/out the sounds of the tractor- I dislike bldg 8 for that very reason, except if we book swim up- then it's my number one choice and the tractor sounds aren't as loud- I'm sure louder the closer you get to the far end. The new lounge location is also a bummer. We have adjusted to going there for pre-dinner drinks, but miss the old location when it was easy to pop in from the beach or pools.
Looking forward to watching more of your videos! Thanks for the great content!

Hi Jillian, which excellence resort would you prefer for a honeymoon between punta cana and playa mujeres?

    • @jillianj310
      @jillianj310 Год назад +1

@@loganrogers4103 I think it really depends on what you want out of your honeymoon. We did the upgraded room for the honeymoon at Playa mujeres, so we had the rooftop plunge pool which was really nice. It was also nice to take the ferry to Isla mujeres and rent a golf cart and explore on our own. It felt a bit like we could have a bit of a honeymoon bubble which was nice.
But we enjoyed the swim up rooms at Punta Cana too! We didn't leave the resort there, but we enjoyed the evening entertainment. I wanted to try the horseback riding that they offered, but I got too sunburned early in the trip and was a little miserable for the rest of it. Haha the ocean was a bit rougher than Mexico, which we expected from reviews. So we didn't get in the ocean much. But we made more friends in Punta Cana. There was a pool float that was passed down to guests by other guests when they left, which was fun... We got it on our last couple days and then handed it down to a other couple. One of the couples still stays in touch and visits our restaurant when they are in town (some 12 years later!). So maybe it had a bit more of a friendly group atmosphere vs honeymoon bubble, but that could have also been our mindset as we weren't just married. Haha
Overall, service wise they were both outstanding. Food was fine at both places, nothing really stands out except the lobster house. But I don't remember not liking anything.

As she mentioned, the plunge pools are ALWAYS cold... I have known people who had to have staff come with buckets of hot water daily just to get the plunge pool to a temperature they could tolerate...while others ended up spending their entire time in the club pools rather than their own plunge pool.
Having stayed with Excellence/Finest nine times and tried all of their upper tier rooms, the swim up is my favorite by far... Again, if you want complete privacy, then sure the 2 story suite and imperial suite ground floor are great options... However, when I want complete privacy, I rent out a house for the wife and kids. Ive always enjoyed the aspect of getting to know people on vacation and having some nice convo and a drink. The swim up suites are NEVER crowded... In fact, most days it felt like the entire pool was mine as Id do laps back and forth...so it really depends on your personality and if you enjoy the social option... Also, if you're in the swim up suite, your waiter/waitress is going to come right up to you pool side with your drinks and food round the clock without having to get out of the water or essentially move a muscle... Literally every 20 minutes if you're tipping properly as you should... if you're on the second floor of your plunge pool terrace, this isnt going to be the same experience...
My opinion, the tangible of the plunge pool being cold really can throw a wrench in what you expected out of your suite versus your reality... being your honeymoon, id rather knock it out of the park... youll have plenty of opportunity for privacy with the swim up... ask for a corner swim up if you choose

Honest review after just returning, some of the rooms need serious maintenance!
We got a suit with a plunge pool. The wood surrounding the pool was a safety hazard. My husband stepped on a wood board and it cracked. Thankfully his foot didn’t go through but still! The wood look extremely worn down and was chipping away from the pool. We had to mark the planks of wood that were really thin. Then I went to walk on it, and my foot went through another piece of wood, and broke my toes. I tried asking for a first aid kit and the gentleman i spoke to who didn’t speak English very well ( totally okay) but he said something to the effect that I injured myself but don’t try to get money from them and they are not responsible. My husband is 180 pounds and I’m 120 the fact we both cracked boards that you are supposed to walk on is really scary. And we got nothing for it, not expecting a free night or anything but not even offering something?!! My toes were completely black and blue the rest of our stay.
Also our plunge pool was leaking, maintenance came and had to run a garden hose into the pool. Also part of our shower didn’t work. Service was amazing except for never getting the first aid kit and that situation.
For the cost of the resort honestly we’ll be going somewhere else. Altier is nearby along with a bunch of other resorts. Hopefully they do sone maintenance soon but I just wanted to warn anyone looking at this resort. We’ve been here before and this trip was very disappointing.

I’ve noticed in some of the different resort videos I’ve seen today the resorts itself look good but the beaches are kind of meh because of all the seaweed, rougher sand, not-so-blue looking water. Is there any resort that you’ve personally been to that has the great amenities of this one but with the softer sand and ultra blue waters? Thanks!

I know! Cancun has been plagued with that seaweed!! During Jan-March your chances are pretty good if having that blue water. The only other resorts in Cancun that we’ve been to like that are Sun Palace and Le Blanc. Turks and Caicos has amazing beaches. A bit more expensive though. And we are going to Aruba to try that island out soon!!

Most expensive resort we ever stayed at and we couldn't wait to get home. Starting with check in our key card/door lock most of the time opened but if it didn't the staff said to turn the handle up and it might work if not do it again. Our room was also an upgraded room 4th floor (1404)pool outside huge deck but the water level in the pool was about 5 inches low and wasn't filled and it had dead bugs in it so we never went in it not even once, the room looked outdated with cheap art on the walls, the TV had lines going through it which we complained about twice thinking it was broken and nothing was done about it so I think it was a streaming connection with a weak signal (not what you expect when paying over 5K), the tv only had 4 to 5 english speaking channels out of over 50 channels even though it was over 90% Americans staying there which makes no sense, mid shelf alcohol in room thats not replaced unless you ask them to when empty, snacks were the same way not replaced had to ask them to come and replace them, shower had a plumbing problem which they fixed immediately and the shower head leaked while we were sleeping several times (trick is to make it level if it happens to you or you won't be able to sleep),cant adjust room temp you have to have them come and set it at a fixed temp and bed is very hard. every restaurant demands short sleeve shirts to enter and for breakfast and lunch there is limited restaurants with A/C that are indoor or you can go to an outdoor with heat and humidity and no ceiling fans wearing short sleeves pitting out and soaking your shirt with sweat once again WHY?, so we ate at the same indoor lunch place every day for this reason which was good but it was Italian for every day, breakfast at that same indoor restaurant they packed people in like sardines where there was no privacy and everybody could ease drop on your conversations which wasn't very romantic for our special trip so we never stayed long and usually ordered room service which was good if you don't mind waiting 40 to 50 minutes every time. Dinner the steak house was our favorite followed by Hibachi and Asian which were also good. The entertainment was not good here, very basic and didn't last long and all the bars only had mid to lower shelf alcohol which was a disappointment for the price tag we paid. The property's common area was clean and the pools were very nice, the ocean was one of the best we ever stayed at and we go every year for the past 20 years to different resorts in Mexico. The customer service from the people that work at this hotel is top notch but it didn't make up for and they cant fix all the problems we encountered. We won't be returning here ever again staying home is more enjoyable with better local entertainment and food.

We stayed at EPM in October of 2022. This was our fifth stay at an Excellence resort. (The second at EPM, twice at ERC, and once at Punta Cana.) I had been impressed with the Excellence Brand. However, I was a little disappointed this last trip. It did not quite live up to previous standards.
First, I have to disagree with you on your bar rating. We were not in the Excellence club. I enjoy bourbon, and they had a very limited selection of bourbon and were all low end.
Also, they were very disorganized on Mexican night. We got there about 30 minutes after it started and were told that it would be a 15 to 20 minute wait. All the tables were large and they were not clearing them until they were completely empty. We waited over an hour looking at 25% of the seats empty.
I’m not sure we will go back to this resort but we are planning to try Beloved soon.
