When I have crazy quilted in the past, my strips did not exceed the sides of the shape. No trimming was required. As the block grew, so did the lengths of strips. To vary the look, strips could be of irregular widths enabling more imperfect scraps to be incorporated and making the design naturally crazy without wasting strips by overlaps and trims . As a finished block your turtle is beautiful.

I have made these and people love them. I don't put the "eyes" on to prevent scratching of floors.
