Frankie and his parties are always amazing for not only the music but the energy. You walk in and the vibe is ON! We are truly blessed to have Frankie Knuckles. And as he said, you can't please everybody...but he sure is pleasing me and a whole lot of people!
Thankz for sharing this with us; I can remember listening to Frankie Knuckles at 206 South Jefferson (US Studios) way back in the day. Frankie could move a crowd! Happy Belated Birthday to Frankie, his birthday was in January. Hope that he stays current with his music, but treats the kids to the music of yesteryear, damn I can still hear that train coming through.
Love this documentary ! I must have seen him around 2003-2004 spinning his set "LIVE" at the club "Yellow" in Nishi-Azabu,Tokyo. I love his soulful HOUSE selections. I was in Heaven as he brought his magic into the club. Looking forward to hear more and hope to see him again someday. Too bad "Yellow" closed in June 2008. : (
Thinking back on those days, its really amazing how house music inited people. Blacks, hispanic, whites, gays, lesbian, and straights. This type of effect is unprecedented in music history.
Anybody knows the name of the song halfway through til the end? Please tell me. The vocalist sings "you better walk away..." etc. The song playing when he shows off his music library and tells of his equipment given to him by David Morales
Ron got mad respect, but he wasn't the best blender/mixer. Anybody from Chicago, especially someone that has DJed before knows how much emphasis Chicago people put on blending. Ron Hardy was the kind of DJ who knew what to play. He also took his DJ skills outside the box. You thought you knew what house music was, then Ron would play something you never heard before, yet it fit right in to the deep house. Ron can also be credited with originating fukking with the EQ when playing a track.
Another half ass example of people over valuing the music box, back from 85-89 La Mirage was just as hot if not hotter then the music box, mainly because the music box was a heaven for gay people back then, house in general at that time was pioneered by gay people bu the truly "flame" types hung out at the music box, straight cats who went looking to meet honeys hit the La Mirage or Hotel Continential.
never again frankie!WENT TO ZENTRA 1/18/08 TO HEAR FRANKIE AND HE BULLSHITTED 1:00 AM TO 4:00 AM! ELBERT PHILLIPS IS THE ONLY DJ IN CHICAGO THAT HAS FORCED FRANKIE TO PLAY!(6/06) AT THE SOUNDBAR WAS THE LAST TIME FRANKIE GOT DOWN IN CHICAGO!WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH FRANKIE AND HIS CREW?

the address to the Warehouse was 206 South Jefferson, not North Jefferson. The building is still standing at the correct address.

You dont have a clue some of the finest women in the city was at the box. And no house music venue was better than the music box.

This video is full of misinformation. It should be taken down and Elbert reshoot it with the proper info. Please
