Hauntingly beautiful song. It's about something utterly tragic... yet at the same time it's utterly hopeful. They definitely tapped into something special with this one.
@Caspar_17 sorry man, I don't get notified on here (glitch?). I heard John say the girl in question made it through. But, identity protection etc., - only the inner-circle knows, I guess.
John says it has a dual meaning. On one hand, it's laments Robby's ex-wife, but he also says it's about loving someone so much and the feeling you get when they fuck up really badly. I guess I've been the black balloon for a lot of people.
I saw them in 1998, when I was in college and they were on top of the charts. I thought they were cool then, but now that 21 years have passed I look back with greater appreciation and think about just how lucky I am to have seen them, and to have lived through one of the best decades for music. More than just nostalgia, it truly was a great decade--the last before the Internet boom and all the destructive changes it brought.
The live and intimate sessions are amazing! Don't get me wrong, the studio albums are good, the Goos sound just awesome live! Theme songs for my life! 🥰💗
I'm very happy for your visit to Mexico city. I'm a very fan of your work even make home shows with your songs!!! Make my backing tracks 😃🤓 love you dudes!!!
The 90s was full of bands and artists who sound better live than studio recording. The music had far superior quality in both sound and lyrics. No matter the genre!
great version, thanks. where does this come from? ps you may want to rethink the title though, Intimate seems a stretch, they have a fucking string section
I wanted to audition on drums when you guys fired Mike. The guy at W said Johnny wouldn't like me because I'm 6-3 and he's a short fucker. His exact words. He said the guy on bass is even shorter. WOW!!
The strings just make this song. Just incredible
Always loved that harmonic guitar riff in the intro. It plays during the verses too.

Based on a girl with a heroin addiction.
@@PeteNThat which is tragic. The song beautiful ~ which always gives hope.
@@DDD122ATX apparently she made it back.
@@PeteNThat It's rumoured to be about Robby's wife who died of a heroin overdose.

Violins give definitely another dimension to this deep meaningful song.
The violins ROCK....
I love their "strings on strings"!
I am seriously in awe of Johnny's voice (and deeply jealous!) Such warmth, depth, emotion and those smoky husky backtones when he wants. Magical!!
Although this song is about something so sad, I still love it.

My favorite song next to Here Is Gone.
💙🙂
" I thought I lost you somewhere
But you were never really ever there at all" - All too familiar for me. Here Is Gone is my favourite.
Both simply masterpieces. Simply genius, really.
❤❤
I can relate to this song as sad as that is. Love love!!
I don't think it's sad you can relate. You're here :)
Makes me cry when we play it.

Sassy Crafty Sagittarius I’m going to see them for the first time at the end of this month with my girlfriend!!!

Amazing ♥️
Yeap, one of my favorites
Wish I was at a Goo concert🥺💗🥀
Same. :( they’re going to be in Dallas in September and I’m missing out. 😩
You’ve got to see them live! Maybe not quite as precise as this “intimate” version, but still great! And you get audience participation!🎉
Stunning performance
Like the wine, the older the better!
Wow! Just magic 🎶
Hell yeah
Goosebumps.. 😍😍😍
One of the best...
So damn good.
One of my favorite songs of yalls ♥️

Fabulous

It's a perfect mix.
Agreed with this song being the exception. John never does this one justice vocally dodging all the higher notes

Come to Russia plisssssssssssss
Is that Mike on drums???
Yes it is Mike Malinin
😇👏👐Keith❤💛💙Just Archangel Michael Card again I think is our angel of both😇✌💙❤
I love but too low than original version...
hate it when he couldnt hit the higher tune and has to improvise the song
Intimate? 😂 just don’t mind the 3000 people sitting behind the camera watching …
Dizzy is a great LPtho. Not taking away from that!!!
I wanted to audition on drums when you guys fired Mike. The guy at W said Johnny wouldn't like me because I'm 6-3 and he's a short fucker. His exact words. He said the guy on bass is even shorter. WOW!!
I wanted to play drums for them but I'm too tall. I'm 6-3 those guys are 5 foot so and so.
Typical JR vocal harmony tracks. Melanin said he's really hard to work with.
Plus i play guitar like Lynch so i can write. Mike never got writing credits.
But they missed out and all new stuff sucks
