This song is so fucking tragic...
One of the best songs ever written and you can see the pain in all their eyes, especially in the last 10 seconds of the video.
For anyone that doesn't know. Heroin is sold in balloons. Black refers to heroin itself, that is the slang for it on the street.
He obviously lost a awesome lover to heroin... "and angels fall without you there"
Meaning she would guide angels to do the right thing and they would fall if she wasn't alive. She must have been a beautiful person to all around her. Thats tragic.
He also goes over how he almost got hooked on the drug to but was able to pull himself out "almost fell into that hole in your life"

His ex wife ( Laurie Farinacci) is alive and well in Buffalo NY, working as a soc worker. The song is not about her, but about a friend. Catch Storytellers for the info.

GGD are a highly underrated band. They got their just do in the late 90’s/early 2000’s but their music has stood the test of time.
In what world is GGD underrated? They have almost 20 top 10 hits and are still doing amphitheatre tours

@@gawdawful3378 your comment proves my point. They don’t have a single album on Rolling Stone or Louder “best of” lists. They’ve sold over 10 million records but I believe they are very underrated given their longevity & how their music holds up even today, 20+ years after they started.

I good friend of mine now owns the guitar he is playing. He also used it in Black Balloon in Alaska. I have a picture of me holding at and have even played it myself. It's definitely a neat vibe every time I hold it.
