PITTSBURGH - Yale claimed its first NCAA title, defeating rival Quinnipiac, 4-0, in an all-ECAC Hockey Frozen Four championship game Saturday at the CONSOL Energy Center.
As an Elm City kid who never saw the Nighthawks, the Whalers, or the Bulldogs play when I lived here, I remember seeing this game in Atlanta and loving it all night long. This video is SOOOO sweet. One of the finest days ever as a Connecticut man.
It was a very tough year for Connecticut as the people were still getting over tragic events at Sandy Hook Elementary School. And they eventually were able to have a bit of hope with an all-Connecticut showdown for the national championship with Yale and QU. I was very happy to see Yale win all those years ago with me being a resident of Connecticut. I was in kindergarten, so I don't really remember it. But to celebrate almost ten years later, GOOOOO BULLDOGS!!!
There is a great book about this game and the entire seasons for both teams called "Hockey Haven". I highly recommend it for any fan of Yale or Quinnipiac.

I will always remember watching this game. 0-3 vs Quinnipiac during the regular season that year, 1-0 vs them in National Championships gotta love it
It was so sad as a Quinnipiac fan
