Michael Jordan vs Charles Barkley | Air Jordan's Philly Takeover

- Charles Barkley had an injured ankle, and Jordan era players still went to work hurt. So Charles Barkley would give it a go, with his ankle all wrapped up. In the first half, with this large cast like wrap on his ankle, Barkley was ineffective. In the 2nd half, however, Barkley stopped wearing the large protective material & he put on a great second half performance.
Maurice Cheeks had some big clutch plays, Mike Gminski put in work, in the post, and even shockingly tossed Charles Oakley to the floor like a WWF pro wrestler at WrestleMania. David Wingate, also banged up, provided his usual wet jumper off the bench, in this contest.
Also, some of you have seen Clifford Robinson play, but you may not have seen Cliff Robinson. Cliff Robinson had a 45 point game against the Pistons, in 1980, as a TEENAGER. Cliff Robinson was an absolutely LEGENDARY shot maker, as you'll see.
For the Bulls, this should have been a lop sided win considering how banged up the 76ers were. However, the Bulls were virtually sleep walking for long stretches of this contest. Brad Sellers, Charles Oakley & Dave Corzine were all liabilities on the offensive end for the duration of the contest. Horace Grant & Scottie Pippen each committed 5 fouls off the bench, and were nowhere to be found when Jordan needed them most. So, guess what folks? Once again, Michael Jordan put the Bulls on his back and took the game over drilling jumpers from all over the court & attacking the basket with precision. This was another virtuoso performance by Michael Jordan.
Also putting even more context w/ Jordan's task at hand... the Bulls had lost 6 straight road games, his supporting cast played undeniably awful on the road, and the Sixers had won 4 straight games at home.

What a game! Спорт
Anyone who saw this guy play knows how amazing he was.
Thanks Bruce
Pippen became a great player but there’s no way he was anywhere close to Michael as a basketball player. Scottie stop it
Look Mj said if he knew it was about number's or longevity he probably would have played longer but he thought it was about Championship's but he still scored 32,229 points in 1,029 game's wit no load management??
Leading the league in steals and scoring and moving about like a work of art. This was the NBA's best era ever vs. the one-dimensional AAU inspired NBA of today. No surprise, the NBA has been having lower ratings since MJ retired.
Leading the NB A in scoring AND steals.

love these timestamps
🐐
Another 49pt game for MJ. He had 10 of them in his career. If he were as stat-obsessed as all these dudes today he probably would've had at least 20 more 50pt games in his career
31 to be precise 😊 50+ games
Seriously! Another ho hum 50!
I am reminded how bad many of his teammates were. Man, Sellers couldn’t finish. Cartwright couldn’t catch the ball. They simply could not score without him one the court.
Barkley was averaging 28ppg and 11 rbs. He was a bad man!
Another Epic
@ The 7:00 mark Sam Vincent causes the ball to be stolen from Pip by creating a screen against his own teammate.. these early teammates of Jordan were horrible!!
1st team all NBA in 1988 : pg magic/ sg JORDAN/ sf BIRD/ pf Barkley/ c OLAJUWON
It's a Bull run!
