Garett as a former teacher and talent manager I can say Great Job of documenting your journey. For anyone that critiques you from the warmth of their couch, you can say you bought Hooligan w your own Money & she did just fine. This doesn’t just take investment, intelligence and commitment, it required “Ganas” = desire. Congrats ❤
The red cap wire connectors you have above your primary fuel filter (you incorrectly call it secondary) are for residential use only and should never be used on a boat. Use butt connectors crimped with heat shrink seal on top.
The RUclips channel "Patrick Lane" had fuel filter problems as well. His solution was to add a Y valve letting him switch between 2 fuel filters in case one got clogged. He had a problem sailing to the Azores
You were smart and got a great sailboat to begin with. I dealt with a lot of junk. Nothing worse than being in waters where you have to be at a destination by 10am before the winds die and the water turns to glass. Followed by a riptide current without an outboard that takes you back at 10 knots. Head to a shore and chuck anchor. Day over!!
I admire you hugely , & have to honestly admit how envious I am learning your parents sail as well..the whole scene if crazy cool. Truth is in 5 years of viewing Tube sailors, your family is the only one to have been sharing an anchorage in your own boats..thats so cool ! We want to meet your folks..are they willing to do an appearance? My list of top sail stories via UTube..Emerald Steel, Salt and Tar, Sailing AGH so tell us what is the part you show with the red slash thru it ? 🌅Aloha Bro from Canyon
The nor sea 27 with the aft cabin would have been so much nicer for what you are doing.. sailing vessel mig has that boat and is behind you in Hawaii.. the nor sea 27s were built very tuff and built to go around the world..

You just change filters and do like he did in the video. Its not that big of a deal.

Makes me want to be troubleshooting a diesel motor in Hawaii.

Awesome adventure. 👌
Where did you learn so much about sailing and weather-tide patterns at such a young age?
Did you sail with your parents as a child?
