sometimes i wish there was a 100% sure way to “beat” the algorithm or no algorithm at all so i wouldn’t have to deal with all the rps bs and almost go negative every set i try to have fun with spice or less used pokemon. i know it comes down to skill sometimes winning those matchups but it’d be nice seeing more unique teams and using unique mons more often instead of your typical meta lineup or whatever the algorithm decides to throw at you
I don't understand when ppl say they can't run spice. I'm running Vigoroth, Charizard and Lanturn. That's not exactly meta. Other times I switch in Dubwool, Alatarie, Geninja and Poliwrath. There are options in the top 50.

I have exactly 50 wins out of 100 battles in the element cup remix. I've noticed I'll win 3-4 battles in one set, then win 1 maybe 2 in the next set. Then it repeats, and it's done that every day 😏

After years of verbally assaulting niantic staffs i finally got it out of them. Matchmaking is based on your overall rating and NOT ranking . Which means the more you win overall the more youre going to be force to lose . They will matchmake you to lose hence , algorithm. It is not random like the first thousand employees claimed. It is also not based on ranking .
This gbl algorithm of yours is a bit like the system specially giving us highly advanced bots that are supposed to defeat us easily.... I will check it personally and check if the algorithm is real and I hope it will not turn out to be spam because I will have something to write about in the forums (Don't take this as hostility or hate, but I am a person who believes in what he sees or experiences)

How I beat the algo in the ultra league is I run 3 water types that have diverse secondary typing and second moves. It pairs me against venusaur teams, but walrein chews it up then I hydro cannon w/e else they brought. Climbed to around 2200 doing that
Did my 25 battles the other day with Golbat as lead and I saw bastidon as my opponents lead 8 times out of the 25. The next day I used the same team but used medicham as lead and did not see a single bastidon as lead for 25 games, I then swapped back to Golbat today and my second game saw a bastidon as lead. People that say there is no algorithm are just lying to themselves.
Best balancing act Niantic could do is make iv's balanced better, make all fast moves the same dps at base before weakness or resistance, switch from charged moves to a countdown time system that increases each time a power attack is used. That alone would stop spamming and stacking.

The best I can do is 3 - 2 on some sets bc this algorithm doesn’t like me beating the hard counters I can beat if I don’t swap lead
