@@johnodonnell2093 ...that was the era when there was just enough technology, just enough of a link to real world cars, and a cast of drivers with great personalities - truly the halcyon days of modern rallying... Just bloody awesome!!! The only way to improve the video would be to have Richard behind the wheel!!!
Lots of great shots, but a little too epeleptic editing in the beginning, and music to loud over his voice over, and strange sound from the car. But I am guessing you worked with a tight scedual, and got a lot of shots in a short time frame, but this should have been a 20 minute Carfection style piece with a lot of talking from Chris.
Yeah, just to add another bit of critique: you should probably address the fact I burnt my toast because I was too busy getting goosebumps watching this.
If there is another Top Gear series this year, it would be great to see something commemorating Richard. The only time I remember seeing something significant was on Top Gear during the week he passed away. Also not to forget it is 20 years since his World Title and what would have been his 50th Birthday year.
I’ll never forget that day in Wales, travelling between stages. Spotting a blue Impreza in the distance crabbing along, getting closer realising it was Richard Burns in trouble..
"...looks absolutely square jawed fantastic today." As a die hard fan of all things Porsche and BMW, I wholeheartedly agree with you Chris. Subaru and the myriad of people involved in this car's construction knocked it out of the park. What a fantastic piece of engineering.
I was thinking about Richard and Colin the other day, and today I find this video. What an amazing piece of Rally History. Complete with the cosmetic damage it sustained...
Out here in Oz, the equivalent of Burns was an amazing Kiwi rally driver called Possum Bourne, he too drove such a WRX and won pretty much everything doing so, alas he too was taken too soon from the rally scene in a tragic accident (doing a recce), in NZ. I remember watching him drive here in Tassie through the forests - spectacular stuff.
Was lucky enough to meet Possum a couple of times at the Rally of Melbourne. Even got to hang out with him before the trophy presentation one year. Listening to ROJ popping and crackling through the forests near Melbourne is still a great memory.
@@alistairwhite2906 That would have been quite an experience. I too met him albeit briefly at a checkin point in the dead of the night when he was competing in the Southern Safari Rally here in southern Tassie. I know what you mean by the sound of his WRX. Nothing quite like it.
These were my glory days of rallying and it's great to see such an icon car in that scenery, brings it all back standing on a wet hill watching Richard blasting by
No way. This thing needs to be LS swapped, new sound system with bluetooth pairing and voice command, wider body kit, automatic transmission, rear seats for 3 other people, ROAD tires, new red paintjob, wash the dirt off, bigger rear spoiler and lowered suspension. (Edit so that no one comes burn my house down: This is a joke.)
Hands down the best era of rallying for me. I grew up watching these cars and driving them in Colin McRae rally and Richard Burns Rally. Lovely to hear it again.
Every generation has what they consider the car that defined their era. Exiting my teenage years at the end of the 90’s, this was it for me. Great video of letting the car to the talking.
Few cars have ever made me physically emotional. But this is it. I was there, when Richard climbed out of the S6 after securing victory. Gone too soon, yet leaving legacies everywhere, he and Colin on maximum attack was utterly beautiful and listening to pops and cracks in the Welsh forests, left a breathless energy in the air. Whoever becomes the next custodian of this masterpiece, should, in my opinion, leave it alone, preserved to honour our hero. RIP Richard. RIP Colin. Long live Scooby. Thank you CC and CH. Now I'm going to have a sit down.
Goddamn this video made me nostalgic/melancholic. I sincerely hope the new owner doesn't change anything about this car and just tries to preserve it in this state. Normally I commend people who race the expensive cars they bought, but this is a museum piece.
I had the chance of driving once or twice a 1997 Impreza GT Turbo and, thanks to a friend of us, the very same car accompanied my wife and me the day of our wedding. It is one of those cars which have soul. Magic.
if there ever was a car that screams WRC you are looking at it, I was just taken back in time watching his, every crack and thump was music to my ears! Tremendous A+
@ralle media - THIS is what automotive cinematic experiences should be. Wonderful job, Chris and the entire team. Carfection has met a worthy competitor. "Holy Sh*t!" indeed.
The sound was orgasmic pardon my praising. Fine tuned looker and a monster. Lolz wouldn't mind driving that baby home but alas she was tuned to the driver.
I was never really a Subaru fan, always found myself backing the Mitsubishi's or Toyota's in period. But this car, my lord. What a story, what a wonderful job the current custodian has done in maintaining this machine in all its beaten to shit race car glory!
Jesus Christ guys, WTF, that just gave me goosebumps on another level, to see that car in that location... speechless.
So glad to see that it wasn't just me feeling like that :-) I was genuinely blown away

love your dream build series
100% couldn’t agree more. This was my first remote controlled car, bringing back so many memories.

This is pornographic 🤤

Can't believe it's been that long
This car interests me a billion times more than any current road car. Great video

he wasn't even in the video

Possum always used to say: Back it in and stand on it!
Goosebumps mate, what a beauty. Fair play to whoever bought it and kept it as it was/is

I wanna play Snake on that Nokia while Chris drives me round rally stages.
Awesome
Iconic. RIP Burnsie.
To whoever buys this (as sadly it's not going to be me 😥 )

What a story with this car. I had an RC version of this very car, and I adored it. In many ways it helped cement my passion for cars to this day.
Truly intoxicating way to sell a classic. I wonder what Subaru marketing department think about this.....stunning
RIP Richard Burns, watched his entire WRC career, it was sad to see him go the way he did.
this might be one of the best Subaru video Ever .......... Speechless Mad respect for the owner
I remember when Subaru made some of the best cars in the world.....The 90's and early 00's, such a great time to be alive.

God dammit I’ve got the shivers, an amazing story and car ❤️
Over twenty years on and that car still looks so good and so fast.
Oh My... I am speechless. So many memories watching RB/RR and JK/JR on the stages in these machines...
Fantastic videography, well done guys! Shame it was so short!
What a car...and what a driver.
arguably one of the best car videos ive seen on youtube ever !!! What a history !!! cheers for bring him back
Top notch cinematography!

Great video. Amazing driving and perfect shots of the car tearing up those roads.
gave me chills watching this, amazing to see it being used the correct way. anyone know what the background music is?

El wrc más bonito que jamás ha existido y la unidad del gran Richard Burns que en paz descanse
Just an awesome video and car. You are very privileged to have driven this and Colin’s wrc car.
Although I strongly dislike how they "dubbed" the sound in this video it still reminds me why I drive a WR Blue car with golden wheels and love it.
sublime piece of automotive history

The most beautiful and carismatic WRC ever! whose carried the Colin Spirit!
I had to watch that back. Was not expecting THAT!
So full of emotions watching this. I love my country!
This vid was perfection. Great music, s short precise history, and a great drive. Prefect music engine sound balance too.
We recognise some of those roads! 😃
Absolutely stunning. Unbeatable turbo spool
One of the most better car of history of the world of racing rallys

Holy shit, video of the year!!!!!
We will never see their likes again, neither the drivers or the cars!!! 💙
Considering that car initially caught fire at one point in the same event, it's staggering to see it in such good original condition
