question - before entering T2, why not go to the outside of the track? there seems to be 1-2 meters of distance between the car and outside curb.

No need to cover more distance. Going wider in T2 is more of a DE line. The cup car has more than enough mechanical grip to go shallower.

In case anyone cares, that descent is amazing on a bicycle. The effect of the corkscrew is lost, but the turn at the bottom is a blast.

It’s the gearbox wine your hearing straight cut gears or sequential gearbox’s tend to make that sound

@@Tangster1205 They make plenty of noise from the outside :)
The microphone is probably in the cabin where there is a ton of gear noise from the transmission

-Gearbox mounted in front of the rear engine. Induction and exhaust sound is further away than any other car
-straight cut gear and diff whine is incredibly loud
-Lacuna Seca has a very strict 90db noise limit
On track days at Lacuna you will see even standard cars running add on mufflers and lifting and coasting at certain points of the track.
